    What a pleasure to have a tutorial that isn't a platform for someones personal music tracks, usually played at ear splitting volume, and 95% of the time of 'music' that you'd never listen to in a lifetime. The other tutorials that have me reaching for the stop button are the mute ones where the 'tutor' flashes the cursor around the screen at the speed of light and expects you to try and follow it. It's bad enough when you don't know how to do something without having to endure distractions like that. So a big thank you to whoever made this one.

    When I record audio I often have multiple takes in one audio file and I have been wanting to have a way to create markers so that I can more easily mark where a portion of a narration starts. Then when I find the next take I can find compare them without having to dig through the file to find the first take again. Thank you very very much.

    Great tutorial, thanks! A few touches from my experience -
    If you have many songs in your album, you can use Zoom in button to see where songs end, also you can copy/ paste word 'Track' into labels, and then add numbering using Export dialog box option while exporting songs. It is much faster and it saves you from wrong label numbering if doing it manually.

    Very informative, but how do I split a live album into separate tracks where there is no distinctive break in the sound. ideally, I'd like to do it while the music is playing (by hitting a simple 'cut' button), when I hear a break between tracks, but I can't seem to find a way of doing this.

  • @rcpilot4970
    @rcpilot4970 Před 7 lety +2

    Hi mate. When you input Compressed formats like MP3 into Audacity, split the tracks, and export them, but it only has the options of Lossless or lossy. This means an already lossy file can either be compressed again making it sound like trash, or turned into a ghost lossless file, a file the same size as a lossless file, but with the same lossy sound it originally had. Can you export them in Audacity without compressing them, and keeping the original file type and compression, without making them huge or making the file quality terrible?

    • @Hordes_Of_Nebulah
      @Hordes_Of_Nebulah Před 7 lety +1

      I was thinking the same thing when I saw him use a mp3 as his source file, he should have ripped the tape to wav and started with that haha. The best way to go about this would be to import the source file as a lossless format and then export into the desired format which is can be compressed or uncompressed depending on your preferred output. I just split a 24bit 192 khz vinyl rip into FLAC files using audacity using this same method only changing the settings. Audacity has a ton of options and you can always download codecs or plugins whenever it doesn't support something.

    • @rcpilot4970
      @rcpilot4970 Před 7 lety

      The problem for me is I download a lot of music off CZcams (Shhhh) and the only option is 128kbps AAC and there is no way to get better off youtube. It becomes impossible to split the tracks without making them sound like garbage lol.

    • @Hordes_Of_Nebulah
      @Hordes_Of_Nebulah Před 7 lety

      Yeah I see the problem here, and 128kbps is already pretty meh to begin with so I wouldn't want to compress it anymore. At least it is AAC and not MP3 so it could be worse but still not ideal. The only way I can think of would be to export them into a lossless format with tagging capabilities like FLAC or APE so that it won't be compressed twice and you can still organize the files better than with WAV. You will still have the original compression to deal with and lots of space wasted on arbitrary data, but you won't have to worry about any extra compression or quality loss.

    • @MrSilvestris
      @MrSilvestris Před 7 lety

      Try this:
      Convert your MP4/WEBm/etc. You Tube files to mp3 using AVC (free & easy to use). I'm assuming you download files that don't grate one's ears!
      Internally, re- record your converted You tube files on a running 'Virtual DJ Home 7' program (free and easy to use).
      Somehow VDJ improves the sound. There are also three rudimentary, but sufficient, pan filters and a gain you can use, but if you like the sound when a file plays; Don't touch anything . WYHIWYG
      Also, what's recorded and saved emerges as a 192 kbps file . This does not, in itself, improve the sound, but it does make tracks easier to read and use in other applications making them virtually problem free. (Handy when transferring files to be used/played in/on capricious phone apps!)
      I'm sure you'll be amazed at what can be accomplished. 👍

  • @XKnightLightX
    @XKnightLightX Před 6 lety

    Thank you. But what if I am not sure what the true quality of my audio source was? I think I did try to look for a program to check it but Im uncertain since it might just read off information that describes the music. Besides, I'd prefer if my music were to use a little memory as possible without reducing quality at all. I mean I can hear the difference when I apply alot audio enhancements (equalizers and wide mid and crystalizers etc)..
