I think the Scuttlegeist's "beast of burden" refer to it being used as labor, the same way water buffaloes are used to plow fields.
Oooh that makes it even cooler. Although using a giant crab for labor sounds like an Ionian thing.
Well Labor or transportation, imagine using a giant crab to get from city to city or instead of a ship
@@Necrit It could just be a mutated scuttlecrab like the Rift Herald, seeing as how resilient and docile scuttle is in-game, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume people would have domesticated them.
As for its size increase, it seems certain isles creatures like Rhasa grow bigger as they consume the living/souls. Thresh and Hecarim are also a bit larger when compared to normal soldiers (or to Lucian in the recent cinematic).

22:04 I think the Armor seen here is definetly Noxian because of the 3 dots or marks on its chestplate that can be seen on a variety of different Noxian armors.

Scuttlegeist is what happens when a scuttlecrab survives a whole game without getting killed as wards and exp for farms.

Necrit Beast of Burden doesn’t mean it was a pain in the ass for them to deal with cause it attacked people or whatever, It means they used it to help them do stuff, like how people use donkeys to help carry stuff

at 22:40 when the quote says "Beast of burden" it does not mean that the beast was a burden to the long-forgotten civilization, but that it was a beast that carried their burdens. A beast of burden is like a pack-mule or a donkey, rather than a hungry tiger or bear. This explains why the scuttlegeist picks things up and carries them on it's back, it was probably used to doing that its entire life before the ruination.
This art and lore is AMAZING, KEEP EM COMING NECRIT.

Well, almost every guy that is fooled by Elise brings a Rose or something to "Express his love".
@@wigfrid6126 well.. Does it even matter if it is him or not, Cause in the end he was either sacrificed to Elise's god or went straight into Threshs lantern. The only way it could matter is if Thresh gets to keep the sacrificed souls.. that would be quite interesting.

The logic of such a partnership is pretty sound actually.
Elise gets protection from the spirit s she has damned (well *more* protection as I would assume her own powers and Vilemaw should be enough to fend off any newly formed undead) and Thresh gets a fresh batch of doomed souls to torture to his hollowed heart's content.

I don't think the ruined king was Noxian.I think its more likely he was shuriman or perhaps even the ancient nation of Faraj(i did some digging), The first thing of note is that Noxus as we know it was not formed until after the ruined kings birth and the succesive ruination. The second is that tucked at the bottom of the bork wiki is a note stating that the ruined king ruled over the Argent throne in "South Western Valoran"- THis would mean either the old nation of Faraj and consequently Shurima, or Targon, which could fit just as well considering the name Argent throne, which is a word for silvery or pale, often used in tandem to describe the moon, so perhaps the Ruined king existed as ruler of Targon during a lunar age of gods or as emperor of Shurima pre founding of noxus- this would also tie together with his lore as his wife was poisoned by an assasins blade meant for him, and we all know shurima had many enemies. The ruined king was(according to the wikitimeline) born almost 100 years before the noxian empire, yet after mordekaisers 2nd crusade, and what we know of his people, though limited, does not fit with mordekaisers culture, which was made up primarily of savage tribes.

No, a beast of burden means it's a beast that does physical labor.
Real world examples would be things like Oxen pulling a plow to help so a field.
So, people burden the beast, not the other way around. Except in the Soviet Shadow Isles.

I think why the Soul Shepherd doesn' t look undead is that it is in the viewpoint of the spirit looking at her. If you will recall Kalista' story "Invocation", the narrative contains:
"Through their bond, the sword-wife saw her differently, glimpsing the noble warrior she had been in life: tall and proud, her armor gleaming."
This was the moment the sword-wife accepted the bond with Kalista. Seeing that the Soul Shepherd has many souls following her, it is possible that there is also a bond that connects them. The spirits bonded with her would be highly probable to view her the same way the sword-wife viewed the glorified Kalista.

Hey Necrit! I'm quite new here but I haven't seen anybody pointed it out so here I go!
In the Arachnoid Sentry the spider can't be Elise since in the Arachnoid Host there is the guy absolutely terrified and at the back (at the door) there is a pleased Elise. I think it's the second picture because it has the same background as the Sentry and we can understand the poor foes fear at Elise's picture.
My biggest wonder is if the shadow isles are a threat to the void? or like have the 2 ever had any interaction, I think that would be an awesome story and would really give us a sense of how dangerous these 2 events/entities are

One thing I think you missed is with the scuttlegeist. A beast of burden is an animal that works for humans (dogs, mules, horses etc). Meaning that blessed isles humans used to use giant crabs for labour.
I cannot wait for the official release. Just thinking about the concept of expansions are giving me shivers
Recalling the scuttlegeist. Beast of burden is a saying used for animals that are supposed to carry burdens, like when horses pull plows or carts.
So the scuttlegeist wasnt a burden to the kingdom, it once simply just was a work animal.

Vilemaw looks like something from the void hough its really unlikely since it can share vitality, and its strange to see other soul shepherds other than yorick, because yorick only survived because of the holy water or something which was only granted to monks.
Great vid as always. Just in case you didn't catch it on the last card you showcased, beast of burden means that it's a work animal. Like an Ox or donkey. So it used to be a pack animal.

Scuttlegeist being a beast of burden can mean many things. It can mean that it was a pet of some kind, i mean it probably was a harmless Scuttlecrab, or as one person mentioned bellow, it could mean that it was used to help everyday's labors, or what you said in the video. Either way, it's pretty cool.

If you look closely to the chest of the man sitting there. You can see them mark of the Trifirax (the three dots). So, the soldier is from Noxus.
The mirror could be the one that Thresh scratched in his story that was bound with the mind of an ancient mage!!!

The last card scuttlegeist is actually based on a real crab! It put stuff from its environment on it's back as camouflage. It's a nice touch for sure!

Is Elise going to get a lore rework to make her mortal again since the real gods of runeterra, Riot gameS, is going to obliterate Vilemaw from existance later this year
pretty sure they won't get rid of an already well established lore/story just because they'll remove a game mode few players barely play. I mean sure, you won't get to see Vilemaw in-game anymore but that doesn't mean he's not canon.
edit: also, LoR is basically LoL story-wise and Vilemaw's in it being, well, Vilemaw w/ Elise and all, so what are you talking about?

I love how half of the spells hit Hekarim's 'centaurs', showing how, indeed, none are more tortured by the Shadow Isles than its denizens themselves.
Looking at the creature and designs here makes me REALLY want Mitna Rachnun as a region for this game i want to know more about Mordekaiser domain and if there are souls that still resist him as well as his generals and army
I thing Elise got some way to summon Vilemaw where she want for a limited period of time (like using spiders to open some kind of portal to the spider cave, and also giving Vilemaw all the livings she can find while hunting the target).

For the Scuttlegiest, a beast of burden usually refers to a working/transportation animal.
8:55 shadow isles might be the one to have one of the new champions with the power to kill people with his fists that RIOT was talking about!
Its so cool that lucian is the only human to go to the shadow isles and come back from it. So awesome.
Ancient Crocolith's description and play effect makes me think it now has distorted views, but it's still a being from the Blessed Isles. It's capturing souls corrupted by the Black Mist before they can cause harm to others.
