no, its just that his strenght and life were being slowly drained as soon as he left the magical barriers to chase after his fathers ghost. thats the effect of the Black Mist, if Thresh didnt kill him the Isles would have, and thats why he was falling and slipping all the time. Thresh knew he was already dead, and he couldve catch up to him easily, he just let him reach the boat to crush his hopes

“I’m sure I’ll be fine” said the man to himself as he chased what was clearly a ghost of his father, who had disappeared a while before in the same place, deeper into the island of death known as the shadow isles after nearly being attacked by a wraith the second he put his hand outside the bubble
Guys the reason he kept falling was because his body was weakening. If you read the lore, "Mortals who dare to venture to these dismal shores will slowly have their life force stolen away from them." So this kid was already dying when he left the barrier to chase after dad.
His final fall was actually symbolic of him dying I think. And because the isles traps your soul, he doesn't realise that.

I can't stand the comments that say "omg he is so stupid for falling so much, it is so cliché". But it is almost humanly impossible to survive the shadow isles without knowledge of the place or without any preparations.

Ironically enough, in my experience, it's usually the support who roams around like an absolute madman (no matter if a vanguard-type or the enchanter-type) and dies at least a few times before learning not to wander around (especially near or in enemy territory) alone and without vision all the time.
Saw that type of stuff happening pretty often no matter if I was playing top, mid or ADC... and occasionally also when playing support... _cough..._

The last time the kid slipped, he didnt actually slipped he just died
It looks like Thresh got him when he slipped and fell at 2:28. The second before, you see Thresh winding up his hook, and then you hear an eerie sound, but never see Thresh throw it. When the guy gets up, it appears to be his soul leaving his dead body, and trying to get away, but now that he's dead, he can't leave. From everything I've seen and noted here, it looks like Thresh got him while he was trying to get back to his feet.

and how he see that he won already the moment the kid left the barrier, how playfull he is with his prey and how he moves slowly like a serial killer
