Thank you for watching our Acura ILX side view mirror replacement video. Hopefully, your mirror never breaks but accidents happen. We love to make these "how-to" videos, not only to show off our products but help folks save some money. Replacing a side-view mirror can take anywhere from 20-45 minutes but most shops will charge you the full hour. You only have a couple basic tools, so there is no reason you can't tackle this project on the weekend. Acura's are very easy to work on as well, we really love their engineering.
TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a Phillips screwdriver for the door panel screws. You will need a plastic removal tool but you can also use a flat-head screwdriver. Just be sure to put a tow around it so you do not damage the soft plastic. Lastly, you will need a 10mm wrench for the side view mirror bolts.
PROCESS:
Let's get this started! You will first need to remove the door panel to access the wire harness. Every door panel has a few screws scattered about. There will always be a screw behind the door handle. Just gently remove the cover and unscrew the first screw. The other screws will vary for each car or model, but there is typically a screw on the armrest and, or under the electric door control module. We did take the tweeter off before just in case there was a screw there, there wasn't. Use your panel removal tool or flat-head screwdriver to remove the panels gently.
Once all the screws are removed you can take the door panel off. Start by pulling the door panel out and pushing it up. Just let the door panel hang or you can disconnect the wiring. We let it hang because it doesn't break anything and we like to do less work. Now the nuts are exposed for the side view mirror. Remove the 4 nuts with your 10mm wrench. Unplug the mirror and install your newly painted mirror by ReveMoto (wink-wink*). The removal was very easy and the installation should be just as easy, if not easier. The only difference in the installation process is that you want to make sure your mirror functions properly. It's a pretty bad feeling installing your mirror just to realize that it doesn't actually work. So, turn the car on and make sure every feature works. Once you are satisfied, secure all the screws and install the door panel. We love Acura's (made by Honda) because they're so easy to work on. We hope you save some money with this install and please subscribe if this helped you out!

Just did the right side mirror on an ILX. No need to remove the door panel…just pop out the tweeter speaker and then unsnap the molding surrounding two of the four mirror mounting nuts. Remove all 4 mounting nuts, then cut the mirror plug harness (leaving a tail you can grab in the next step). Remove mirror.
While depressing the plug’s locking tab with a small flat blade screwdriver (see your new mirror’s plug to identify location of that tab) pull the harness tail and the plug will easily pull out of its connection. Now you’re ready to install the new mirror !
Do you have a video on changing just the skull cap?

You don’t need to remove the whole panel. Snap off the tweeter and pull the panel just enough to where you’re able to disconnect the mirror. Install new mirror and snap panel and tweeter back in. 10min
That is true, but it’s easier to show the viewers this way. Go to www.reveMoto.com for any autobody parts you need

wondering if you have any tips on getting the last door screw out? I can't seem to get the soft plastic out
nevermind got it, if you have a toothpick with a flat end, you can go underneath the control panel well and poke the soft plastic out
Hello Henry! Yes, it can be a pretty tight squeeze. Thanks for the question and solution. 🤘
Is it the same for the 2016-19 models?
I have the 2019 version is it the same instructions
Hello! Well, its will be mostly the same. There will be the same size screws and they will be in the same spots. There might be and extra screw for the door panel or not. Essentially, every side view mirror is removed the same way on every car. Good luck!
This looks the same as my 2021 ILX mirror. Same process to remove? Maybe only need to remove the little speaker rather than the whole door panel? Can you just buy the black housing or is it all one piece?
This could be similar process maybe not exact. Look at the new mirror and see if it has a long wire harness. It does then you will have to take panel off. This mirror the whole thing has to be purchased. Go to www.ReveMoto.com. That mirror you need already comes painted to match your car. Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any other questions
Hi, where is fuse for mirror heater?
My mirror heater dont work in driver side(
Hello Artem! I believe all the ILX mirrors come heated. Checking the fuse is a good start. Simply google "2015 ILX side view mirror fuse location" and a lot of sources should pop up. It could also be that the mirror you have is faulty. We sell a ton of mirrors and its pretty rare for it to be broken but it happens. Thanks for watching!
Look like we don’t have to take the whole door panel out
Just the little piece there lol
That's correct. We sometimes take the panel off for the videos sake but we wouldn't if we didn't have to. Thank you for watching!
