Absolutely sure the plug is fully seated? Was the motor damaged in someway? Maybe check a fuse in case it popped due to some resistance. If anything you can disconnect the battery for 10 min and try.
I tell you more - you can also buy only the framework and the mirror surface, and replace only this parts, but not the whole mirror! It will be much more cheaper. Especially if the camera and all the electronic stuffing is intact.
Since the insurance quoted it, not a body shop... I’m thinking they wanted to cover all their bases. But a second quote isn’t that hard to do if a shop says more work needs to be done.

What if I only need to change the glass
Haven’t tried to remove just the glass but on a lot of cars you can pop it off by reaching behind the glass. I think I saw a video out there somewhere

Do you know it’s hard to remove ours from the CTS & V? I removed mine & it’s not easy! You have to be very careful! I painted mine Candy Apple Red.
