Makes a really, really fun and cool range toy. Not sure it's anything more than that though...

Thank you for a very honest review. I had a vector for a year, and finally sold it for an LWRC SMG 45. I cannot stress enough how much more i love the LWRC. All of the original issues garand thumb pointed out on the LWRC are no more, and its such an incredible gun. Pricey, but when you have a fully ambidextrous lower, interchangeable charging handle, reciprocating barrel, you are set. I would definitely look into the SMG 45 if that is something you would be able to get your hands on. Mags are very sturdy, and it is fully ambi with a non-reciprocating charging handle. Custom AR lower on a UMP 45…. Doesnt get better than that!

One nice thing about being a lefty with a Vector is that even holding it by the front like designed, you'll never hit the bolt catch. All my right-handed friends that shoot mine fire a couple rounds, then get a "malfunction" because their thumb rests right over the catch. I make it a point to tell people to watch where their thumb is when firing now.
I think part of the problem with the stock is that it's just too high. It's not in line with the barrel like most other rifles, where there's just a little more height between the stock and your sights. Even just that half inch makes a noticeable difference. I hadn't thought about getting a riser for my sight since the height over bore is already so high, but i might consider it after my next range trip.
The only malfunctions i ever had were with ammunition. Had some Winchester Ranger that it just did not like. Jams, fail to feed, fail to extract, etc. Changed to literally any other brand, problem solved. Fewer problems than my Beretta 92.
I've been using some ETS 30-round (45acp) mags with no problems at all. Reliable, cheap, and they look kinda cool with a fully loaded clear mag sticking out the bottom. :D
One thing that wasn't mentioned is that you can swap the lower and presto chango, you have a different caliber. The only difference in the upper between your 9mm and my 45 is that the metal piece inside the ejection port is shaped differently on the 45 to allow the larger brass to eject properly.

I've been a fan of the Vector forever. I got my CRB 2 years ago and really like it. I don't have the luxury of having "range toys" so whatever it has to do is what it has to do. I planned my setup and know it well, so I don't have any problems with the controls, and I'm use to the ergonomics (right handed). I haven't used an AR in a long time so I was kind of a blank slate when I started using it. Biggest con is the weight, especially with attachments, but I just think of that as a reason to go work out more. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. No two-piece mags here, and it has run great! I disagree with a few things here, but I really appreciate you saying different stuff than all of the other vids out there about it.

I say it all the time: SMGs don't make good semi-automatic weapons. They rely on their high rates of fire to really take advantage of the low recoil of a pistol cartridge, while still remaining very dangerous. A single squeeze of this gun at 12-1400 rpm is about 6-7 rounds. Imagine 7, .45 acp rounds hitting you all at once in relatively the same spot. Even if you have body armor, you're going to sustain internal injuries from the trauma alone. Now neuter the gun to semi auto and it has all of the same capabilities as a pistol, without the low cost, weight and profile. Really needs to full auto to be effective, otherwise bring a rifle that fires blackout, 308 or 5.56. Now in 10mm, this gun starts to shine again, where you can make follow up shots much more accurately and quickly due to the structure of the gun than you could a pistol. But at 9mm and 45? I just don't think it's worth it. Maybe just for the controllability but is that worth all of the other downfalls?

I have 7 extended mags between a 9mm and a 10mm variant, zero issues with all 7. I also leave them full all the time. maybe I got lucky.
Additionally, I've said it before on multiple vector videos and I'll say it again, in the owner's manual. If the charging handle feels really tough to pull, it tells you to put your fingers as close to the body as possible when you pull the charging handle, it is a much smoother action instead of having your fingers towards the outside, almost making it feel like it's binding. Additionally, my entire action has gun grease instead of oil and it made it feel a lot better.

The weird ergonomics are much easier for right handed folks to train with and get used to. I have a braced pistol configuration in .45, the "enhanced" version, so it has the mlok rail up front, and I use an angled foregrip, which allows me to hit the mag release with the heal of my hand as I'm releasing my support grip to reach for the next mag. Once I figured out that setup and technique, my reload speed became on par with my AR reloads. I love running my vector and wouldn't hesitate to use it for defense, but I definitely wouldn't if I were a lefty.

I agree it is funky. Glad I went with the 45 though as I haven't had a single issue with feeding from the extended mag, unsuppressed. The Super V is kind of lame, it honestly feels like you could make a chassis with a 1911 hanging off the front and it would recoil about the same.
Edit: I just want to add that it is delayed blowback, the delay comes from the sharp ramp down that the bolt forces the carrier into upon initially leaving battery. It's a type of roller delay. IMHO that's why they added the "Brass check function" Just pulling on the handle would have been way too hard so there is mechanical advantage built into the lever and camming action.

The follower catches at the bottom of the Glock OEM mag and the top of the Kriss mag. If you sand paper down the front of the follower to be more round and less sharp it will not catch. I know this shouldn't be necessary but my Kriss mags worked flawlessly after I did this. Go the idea from a forum.

I know this is an old video and you may never see this. But, if you remove the top picatinny rail, you will see 3 screws that hold in the trigger group. remove the middle one. measure it and get a longer one. not sure how much longer you need, but you can file it down to suit your personal feel. this will remove the "slack" in the trigger and make it more crisp. When tightening it down you will see the trigger move back. before doing this figure out how much slack is in it and where it becomes tight, that is where you want to adjust it to. the only thing you want to be sure of is that you get the same head screw so it will clear the rail when remounted.
