    Very well done! The thing to note is you have to drill out the holes in the wheels and then there's no going back. The piece that acts the same as the lock nut does not have anything to keep it locked in place. One suggestion might be BLUE LocTite. Don't even think about using red because it needs heat to be removed. Thanks, Brad. I'll re-post this on RC Groups.

      Hi John, thanks for the comment. I appreciate the repost too. I assume that accounts for the high views in a short time. 👍
      You are right, you do have to drill out the wheel opening where the nut goes thru, and I failed to mention that, but honestly , there's no choice in my case. However, I can still go back to stock using the stock wheels and hub adapters if for some reason I needed to.
      So far , I haven't had any of the hub extenders come loose and I'm not using any loctite . But you are right, a drop of blue would be a good idea to be on the safe side.
      All good points. Thanks for again brother.

    Nice video.
    Perfect explaned.
    Only thing ..
    There is a downside to hub extenders..
    Bearings wear faster.
    More load on steering components...
    So extenders are needed sometime but don't go wider than needed...

    hi! got a small but really big question... so the stock hub adapter, has right around the center of it around the axle that it goes on, some protrusions (you can see them at 0:41) which make the hub adapter only touch the inside of the hub bearing casing(the outside of the bearing is fixed into the hub, and the interior has the axle through it so that it can rotate). so if the hub adapter only touches the inside of the bearing, there is no friction with the other walls of the hub exterior or the exterior part of the bearing casing. BUT the hub extender you have here does not have these protrusions, which means that it will rub on the bearing casing where it shouldn't, on the exterior edge or on the bearing shields. this i think actually happens to you too, as i can see at 2:16 there are a lot of friction marks on the extender. so.....maybe these extenders are not the way to go? maybe another brand offers the correct ones for wltoys ?

    • @RCinginSC
      @RCinginSC  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, they can rub if you tighten it too tight . The stock axle pin is thin and bends easily. I have since drilled mine out to 2mm and installed hardened steel pins that do not bend and the hub adapters do not rub.

    Thanks a lot for this video and your effort! I wish I had seen it a day earlier. I think I bought the wrong extender for my Wltoys 124018, this has an axle of only 3mm. Do you have a recommendation by any chance for widening vehicles with axles that are 3mm? Simply replace the axle at the 124018 to one with 4mm will probably not be possible, or?

    • @RCinginSC
      @RCinginSC  Před 2 lety +1

      To upgrade the axle size , you'd have to use larger diameter hub bearings, which would require using a hub that could accommodate the larger bearings. I'm not aware of an upgrade kit for that purpose.

      @@RCinginSC Thanks for the quick reply! That's too bad. I have some very nice stadium truck wheels here that I wanted to run on my Wltoys 124018. Do you know by chance an extender that fits 3mm axles and is not too wide?

    • @RCinginSC
      @RCinginSC  Před 2 lety +1

      @@tommygo9185 I did a quick search on Amazon and didn't immediately see any for M3 axle thread. If you do find some, definitely go with shortest length that will work for sure. I've bent a front spindle very easily with hub adaptors. There's so much leverage on the spindle with the wheel so far off centerline, one hard landing and your buying a spindle. Especially with M3 spindle, it will be more fragile. I'd recommend that if you plan on jumping it or bashing it, avoid using extenders all together and simply put your money in wheels that will fit the stock setup. Hope that helps. Have a blessed day.

    Appreciate the video and questions answered. I had the same issue myself. I got wheels for my Big Rock that were rubbing along the steering servo. Ordered a pair of 20mm extenders on amazon for a few bucks hopefully they work. One question that I had that one hobby dude told me. If you get extenders they could screw up the servo and or other parts cuz they’re not meant to go wider. Is this true? First time RC basher ova here haha. Thanks for your help once again. Be safe.

    • @RCinginSC
      @RCinginSC  Před 3 lety

      I'll say that the extenders might put slight more load on the servo , but not much , in my opinion. The servo will only move its designed travel. The only real concern is that if you bash it really hard, the extenders create more of a leverage point and could potentially break the hub. But I don't bash mine. It's strictly a recon vehicle. Thanks for watching.

I’m only running the thing on 2s still so and not jumping it crazy so hopefully I won’t break the hubs. I did get a few diff 20mm hub extenders on the web. Can’t seem to find one that fits over the axel of the Rock perfectly. I’m drilling the opening to make it fit over axel as well as drilling the pin slots larger to make the stock ones fit. The ones that come with are to thin for the axel in BR. Do you think I should be okay with the modifications I’m doin? And if not, do you know of any extenders that fit the BR without doing anything? Do you recommend any loctite or superglue in any spots? i.e. where the pin goes into hub extender, or anywhere else?

    • @RCinginSC
      @RCinginSC  Před 3 lety

      @@bilbobaggens6130 Sure. Some medium strength loctite on wheel nuts would be a good idea since the right side wheels will have a tendency to unscrew themselves. No worries abut the questions. That's why I like to do tutorials.
      One word of caution about tightening the hub Extender....don't tighten it too tight or it will bend the small pin going through the axle. If you notice that the wheel seems to have some drag to it like it's rubbing after you install the extender. Take it back off and look at the pin. Just take some pliers and straighten it and put back together. Good luck and have fun. Share your progress with me if you want . You can email me at rcinginsc@yahoo.com. thanks.
