- Planning Self Cleaning your oven? Don't, before watching this. The range heats up to a temperature of 900°F in Self-Clean mode, so large amounts of grease will start to smell, create a lot of smoke, and will catch on fire. The fire can destroy the electronic control board and lock the door from the inside. #shorts

And the worst time to do the Self Clean is on Holidays because it would be almost impossible to find a technician to fix it for you.
"Don't use self clean, but do use it regularly"
Instructions unclear took a shower with a plugged in toaster, now I sense when the remote for the TV is being pressed.
His advice is very clear
Some people are just slow.
I was about to say the same thing
@@seepassthebs ah, you sense the remote too
I clean ovens professionally... and your vid is the most sense I've seen. I usually watch these videos to laugh at how "vinegar and baking soda" will work 😂. Your advice is actually accurate. More people should listen.
Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU!! Almost had a fire!!
Glad all is good now!
I haven’t any problems with the self cleaning oven feature but you are not supposed to use the oven cleaner spray because it contains toxic ingredients. I often use open windows for ventilation, and to clean off the remaining deposits with soapy water and with a garbage nearby, I don’t use rags or you literally might put dirt back into the oven I don’t use the self cleaning until the oven is really dirty and eventually I want to bake using a clean oven I also have sensitive knees that lock up if I apply too much pressure on it.
Maybe they shouldn't include the friggin feature to begin with!
The only benefit to a self clean oven is extra insulation which makes your oven more efficient in the long run.
Thank you, I got the answer of my question about self-clean.
Happy to help!
Thanks!

I've got the same GE oven you have here in this video for 5-6 years now, I've never done a self clean and it's definitely a mess and yucky inside, should I attempt a self clean? Seems easier and the heating element itself is in the way of my huge hands to try and clean underneath and the bottom.
Since it's really yucky inside, there is a good chance that your range will overheat and malfunction after the self-clean. I'd manually remove the largest chunks of the grease first and then hope for the best.
I used the self clean feature only once. Never wanted to do it again because of the smoke. And my oven wasn’t very dirty at all.
Had doors and windows open. An extra fan blowing smoke and air out the back door and the smell still stuck around the house for days.
An overnight soak for the bottom with baking sofa and water works well. Steam cleaner for the sides.
oh wow. thanks.
Thanks for watching!
A toothpick felt inside the oven hole . I'm scared to turn it on can it catch on fire?
I never use self clean and just clean it myself but how long should I wait to use it again after cleaning it, I clean it with vinegar hot water and dawn dishsoap
It all depends on your personal use of the oven. After you use it a few times and it gets a little dirty, it's OK to start the Self-Clean. But if the oven is heavily greased-up, it's best to wash it by hand.
OK... but cleaning manually - how do you get the bottom element out of the way? Mine just raises slightly
It's difficult. You have to unplug and unscrew the element from the back.
But no need to remove it. First, clean up as much as possible by hand. Then, do the Self-clean regularly.
Oh Deng! I already pressed on self clean! It was my first time but now I will turn it off lol
Can u spray oven cleaner inside ?
Yes, you can. But do NOT run the Self-Clean function at the same time... clean it by hand.
Also, when you spray the chemical cleaner, avoid spraying on the heating element and the door gaskets.
That's so true I hate self cleaning function 😆
Sooo say you did start it and it caught on fire for like 30 seconds went out after you stopped it how would you open your door again after that?
If it was a short fire, the door could open itself after it cools down. But if the lock got stuck, every model has different ways to open it... but you may need to call a tech to do it for you.
@@Your-Self I had to let it cool to room temp I thought I broke it 😂thanks though!
@@honeybeesyikes863 the door finally opened after it cooled down?
Oven got stuck in self clean. Had to go to circuit breaker and turn it off.
Been waiting 5 months for a new oven.
Self clean is a trap!
Considering the temps ramp up to 900F and 1000F, the control board might have shorted out or malfunctioned due to the amount of heat produced. Better off with a steam clean feature if you have one🫠
If you want to use self cleaning, don't? Lol wtf
Wish I watched this before it happened to me
Don't use it. But if you use it use it regularly. Got it thanks
