How I do gel nails:
1. soak nails in warm water + hand soap
2. Push back cuticles
3. file/buff nails
4. Apply Primer to nails
5. place nails under UV lamp
6. apply whatever color gel polish
7. place nails under UV lamp again
8. repeat steps 6 and 7 until you get the shade of color you want (The more coats, the darker the color)
9. Apply top coat to nails
10. Place hands under UV lamp
AND I'M DONE!
(I forgot to add, apply base coat after your primer had dryer with UV lamp)

Great vid as always Gabby! One thing I'll add as well is that when I do gel nails at home, or even when I go to the salon, I like to put sunscreen on my hands in advance 😊 it protects your skin from the UV lamp (works well if you're also doing your toes)

But wont it wash off when they tell you to wash your hands after they put cuticle oil on after they dril the acrylic.
@@JESSICA-jq4kj if it's just gel that you're doing, then I don't think you need to wash your hands :) so it won't come off! I can't speak for acrylic nails because I've never had them done. So if you do gel polish on natural nails, you can give it a go!
for sheer nail polishes like this, paint your nails with one coat of white and then continue and you won’t have to put on so many coats!!!!

I only do acrylics or gel. But these days, let me tell u!!! Gel mani is like $35 & acrylic is like $30... I can't be doing that every 2 weeks. So I guess doing gel at home is the most self sufficient way! Cuz I'm not trying to learn how to do acrylics; u gotta shape, buffer, drill... Too much

I agree. Too much and not all nail techs are careful with those drills. Save that money and cuticles.
I feel you, my nails grow very fast, I can’t justify $30 a week, and my last gel application was not nice quality.
The lamp shes using is $250 tho
Just some advice when you are curing your base cote or top cote you can cure it for 60 secs for a better result and it can last longer ❤️

I live in Southern California, and what do all the salon owners do get together for tea, and decide how much to increase the prices? Because I know what I used to pay, and now a Mani-pedi with gel polish +tip, is running around $80.00! So I invested in a nail machine, don’t go to Ulta, because they only carry one brand and they are way over priced. I haven’t used it yet, but I’ll be due for my gel manicure in a few days, so I better start looking for a really good polish.❤
I really like the look of gel nail but I don’t want to be spending 30$ at a nail salon 😂 so I bought a led lights that cures 5 nails and now learning from CZcams how to apply. 👍🏻 wish me luck

I've always wanted to do this as have natural nails. You make it look so easy (I hope) lol. I've never used a cuticle base just plain painted them these look amazing. I have the curing thingy as do resin. Now I can practice. Thank you 😊

I enjoy all your videos and especially your ideas. I have concerns about the affects of gel & curing my nails for myself. Years ago, I did acrylic nails from a professional manicurist 1 time. My body's reaction was negative & couldn't wait to get them off. It took two years to get my nails and fingers back on course, heal and healthy. So I hesitate to anything that's not plain nail polish. This video makes me want to try, then my sensitivity stops me. Thank you for sharing.

I love doing my gel nails I’m so good at doing them and I get so many compliments asking we’re i get my nails done and I’m like I do them myself but I always finish my gel manicure with jojoba oil p.s. it’s the best oil for nail and hair growth so I put that on my cuticles and some lotion

For everyone doing diy nails at home or practicing on self. Make sure not to over expose your skin to the products I've done nails since June I went way over board taking product off after one two and three days to keep up with posting and I've contacted an allergy to all products gel polish poly gel and acrylic which sucks !!!! I was careful not to get monomer or gel on my skin and still I broke out super bad a week ago after trying New acrylic set hoping once they've healed up it's not too late. A lot of diyers like me didn't research allergies to products I heard in tutorials about contact dermatitis I thought oh that'll never happen to me then bam I'm stuck with it. Just be super aware of the products your using and get a practice hand rather than doing multiple sets a month on your own hands !!! I wish I'd done more research on all aspects of nails before going nuts on my own nails.

I just bought a gel nail online. Had to buy a lamp wasn't expensive. But I had to after I got the color the way I wanted and put it under the lamp. I put a nail hardener on my top coat it dried nicely. Without it didn't
