Do you cure after the primer:base coat? The one after dehydrator and before the gel?
@@123mlj123 nope! A primer is designed for adhesion. Not curing.
You put on a sparing amount of primer to cover the whole nail plate, then you can apply the base coat on afterwords (once the primer dries- which takes like, 20 seconds).
And then like she says in the video, you will cure the base gel (for half the time of typical gel) then add the gel x tip.
Dehydrator goes first, because it completely strips your nail of natural oils or tiny microscopic debris you can’t see, then the primer is designed to make things adhere to your nail much more efficiently. Then the gel products go on after that. And of course, anything that’s gel, gets cured. Because it can’t harden on its own, without exposure to a UV light source
@@doggy4070 oh thank you so much!
@@123mlj123 yeah of course!!
The type of glue plz
I’ve been using gel-x extensions for a while now, and they never got to last. I followed this tip from a licensed nail tech that immediately made a difference for me: stop using buffers! Buffers actually smooth out the surface, which isn’t what you want when you want your nails to last as long as possible. Use a regular 180 grit file or e-file to your natural nails and on your gel-x extension before applying polish to make it last as long as possible. This creates texture on your nails which allows the product to ‘cling’ onto your nail a lot better! My nails now last weeks since I stopped using buffers.
NOTE: Please do your own research before following my advise or anyone else’s. Please, do not over-file your natural nail or damage them.
I've also noticed that buffers don't work for me (they just make my nail shine even more), but I thought it was because my buffers get used up too quickly (turns out that was not the case).
because 180 grit file creates texture unlike buffers. and also dont use cream and oil day before the manicure.
just for clarification, a 180 grit buffer would be bad, but a 180 grit edge file would work?
@@taylorswiftsucks use file lightly in order to just make the surface rough. Don't overfile it.
@@katyad3113 thanks
i never put the tip all the way to the cuticle, i always leave space and that prevents lifting
it usually depends on how long your natural nails are. i also use the aprés nail tips which have a higher apex to keep the nails strong. my nails are very short so i have to put the nails all the way to the cuticle to line up the apex of my nail and the nail tip.
The skin you push back, is actually called the "eponychium". The cuticle is the Dead Skin, that stays on the nail plate AFTER you push back the eponychium. Hence, the name of the liquid you used was called "cuticle remover", because it's removing the Dead skin(aka cuticle)😊
The cuticle is the translucent, thin membrane made up of a dead skin cell layer produced by the eponychium and is present at the lower end (the proximal part) of the nail. While the eponychium is the thickened layer of living skin cell layer present in the proximal nail that produces the cuticle.
@@JulStar13they already said that?
we know this, we call them cuticles in the industry anyways because it’s easier for clients to understand, none of us say “i’m gonna push back my eponychium” lmfaoo
@@OpinionatedBluesthey didn’t. Read it again, wrong terms were used.
They renamed the “skin you push back” to the “proximal nail fold”.
Recommend not using any cuticle removers if you are doing extensions. Especially full cover tips. Manicure your nails the day before. The product sinks into the nails and makes it almost impossible to fully dehydrate. Also remember to not wash your hands after dehydrating!
Oo yes i wash my hands after cuticle softener
If you wash your hands and use an alcohol wipe it dehydrates your nails
Very complicated, I take care of mine using foundations and they are huge, as it takes a lot of work, it's easier to take care of
just a tip. make sure to cut your natural nails short because this can help prevent lifting on the end and it could rip your natural nail.
Ohhh the hearts are SO cute on these nails!
I wash my hands a lot and they start popping off at the one week mark
😢 I didn’t think about filing the fake nail near the cuticle. Genius! 😮
The first step is to buy all those other things
Is it really necessary to put dehydrator and primer to the nail?
Yes! It helps the nails stay on and stick to the nail longer, if you want to put the nails to their full potential these steps are necessary! Prepping the nails are very important ^^
I only apply rubber base to my natural nails and they last four weeks. The rubber base I use is from JR
I like! The first look without any polish caught my eye. I like it without anything on the extensions.
Girllll these are some good tips!!! The backup nail tech did me wronggggg 😩 my nails began to LIFT on the 1ST WEEK!!!!!!! 😰
Same first time I just did them! Grrr
I’ve been doing my nails for two years and I still have this problem. But I wash my hands 10+ times a day

Sunscreen on your fingernails, OK?
@@sherrymiller8167 yes, hand and fingers
Sunscreen on your hands! Yes prevent skin cancer, freckles, discoloration and premature aging hands AKA wrinkles.
I’d just love to find a manicurist that can DO the gel extensions! All I can find are the people who do the powder stuff and they file into your own nails and ruin them! Then they look so thick and lopsided when finished.

I love soft gel tips omg so much money and time saved
I guess u can say she (nailed) it
I tried to like this video twice it was so helpful
I put a layer of glue on natural nail and then on the tips and cure it works great for me.
Do a short on how to apply rhinestonessss 🎀🥰
Wow🤩 thats amazing!
this only works if your nails grow slowly. honestly if you wear nails, slow growth is a blessing!! my shits are grown out in a week which is love when growing out my natural nails (esp rn cuz i damaged em), but boy does it suck for keeping extensions and color looking good lol!
Thank you this information was really neat. Did I was doing my nails and forgot how to do the cuticles and it was right there, so thank you so much for making this video.
Thanks for explaining the why to each step ❤
Do you have to apply a pre layer on your natural nail first?
I love love my natural nails
I love this ! I’m going to start doing my own nails soon !
I just did my own nail extensions with the exact same products that they use at the salon. When I got them done at the salon they lasted me for weeks! When I did them myself, they started lifting within days 😭 I’ll try adding a thin layer directly to the nail before applying to the tips. Hopefully that makes a difference!
That's really good KK dizzy nail polish 😊😊
This was the step by step I needed, thank you!
Thank you! I'm doing gel x and I didn't know some of these tips

What is the difference between gel adhesive and rubber gel, in gluing? What holds more? What is more recommended?🙏🏾
Gel adhesive isn't thick so when your flash curing your nail, you have to hold and apply pressure so you don't get air bubbles or lifting during the flash cure process. This is a good option but can be difficult if you dont have an easily accessable UV light while your holding the nail tip during the flash cure. For the most success with this option & easiest is if you have a goose neck UV flash curing light.
Rubber Gel base is thicker than normal Gel base coat, the thick formula gives reinforcement to your natural nails. It is flexible & bends with your nail to give strength to brittle, thin nails. You can use it make a structured manicure to extend your nails without any kind of tips, on top of full coverage tips like soft gel, or even create a hybrid with tips (you'd normally use for acrylics) with polygel. It's like builder gel but suppose to be healthier for your nails & better formula. I personally haven't seen it be used as glue with soft gel tips but that's what Rubber base is.
I'd recommend Solid gel adhesive because you don't have to worry about flooding or air bubbles & lifting because you don't have to continuously hold pressure while flash curing with any shaped UV lamp easily. You can re-adjust it if it's crooked without worry before flash curing etc.
Bottom line- traditional Gel glue is a good option, and done the easiest with a goose neck UV lamp. If you have a small UV lamp that you can't easily hold the nail tip while your flash curing, I'd recommend solid gel adhesive.

@anupriyamitra3196 what is the name of the gel adhesive? I'm about to start using polygel, im awaiting my kit, I want to use tips, this method seems to be exactly what I'm looking to do, I used to be a nail tech, thank you ❤❤❤
@@nadialittenstein332 It is not adhesive but gel itself, it's called UV soak off soft gel. It's available in a Nail Polish like bottle

Is it easy to take it off.

I hope I’m getting a lot of nail stuff on my bday bc i wanna do these so bad! Even tho it won’t turn out as good lol
You’d be surprised!! I just did it for the first time myself and I’m obsessed they are perfect! With the tips it’ll be easier to do the polish if your real nails aren’t super long just yet. Practice makes perfect you’ll get there and it’ll look great! Have patience for sure and go slow.

Super usaria
I don't see the description to find the type of glue
The three dots in the top right, press this and you'll see an option that says description
When you apply the gel to your natural nail, what does that do? I've always just applied my gel glue to the fake nail and pressed under the lamp. Does the glue applied to the natural nail protect them or something?
It makes it so that your natural nail is protected and it’s a barrier between your natural nail and the fake nail bc your nail bed produce oils that can make the nails lift faster.
Also bc if it lifts and it "jumps off" it will take a layer from the gel and not from your natural nail, damaging it
@@jesaea thanks a ton! I started doing it after seeing this video and they stay on the same, but with less damage to my natural nails like you said. This is a great technique!

Cute 😊❤
What do you use to apply tips onto nail? ❤
I'm asking the same question ❤❤❤
Amei coisa linda ❤❤❤
🤩💕 after etching the nail tips should i just dust them or use an alcohol pad inside?
is there a benefit to using gel to apply the tips as opposed to just nail glue? I don't mess with gel at home because the risk of developing an acrylate allergy is not worth it to me
So depending on the brand of tips you buy regular nail glue won't work. Normally if your using pre-colored/pre-design press on like from the store you have to use nail glue because the UV light can get through them like with the clear tips you see here. You can gel nail glue or solid gel (my preference because it lessens the possibility of air bubbles when your first flash curing the nail you dont even have to hold the nail if some really thick solid gel adhesives). I've seen a girl use nail glue as a preference for clear soft gel tips tho. But I think as far as longevity and depending on the brand directions/process that's why it's suggested to use a gel glue.
Yo ya me puse de ese material y 10 de 10
is it better to have the full nail or is just having a tip good too?
This would take me sooooo longggg 😭😭😭
Love
Can you use regular nail polish on soft gel tips?
TS3 Goths from Sunset Valley are purple!!
No matter how careful I am I CAN NOT cut my cuticles I just don’t understand I cut my skin every time even when I know I have dead cuticle skin once I nip it , it bleeds
After you push back your cuticles, you may or may not see a line of extra cuticle. IF you see extra cuticle, snip it off. If you dont, dont bother. Cutting of cuticle is an EXTRA step and varies depending on your skin. If you have looked at videos and tried everything and nothing works, it's okay to skip this step ❤
yeah because we're not supposed to touch the cuticle let alone cut it off in the first place 😭
Yeah I’m just leaving it alone lmao I’m done hurting myself!!!

If i don’t dehydrator is better to file my natural nail instead of buff it for long lasting results?
Woo 😮
Can a regular file be used for the underside of fake nail if I don't have an electric buffer?
Yes! I have both, the electric drill helps. But if you have a small file it will work just as well!!♥️🫶
my manicure makes my gel nails last for 2 months, if I don't take them off they won't come off lol
