Unfortunately Terence sounded more defensive than necessary. To contribute to this discussion, I wish he’d properly share his experience in the school rather than continuously defend his school

Hi BoiceInPink, thank you for this! Our eyes nearly rolled off their sockets during this discussion.
Nonetheless, as painful as it is for us to admit, it goes to show that Terence's school has done something right to have him remain loyal and proud of the school.
How about yourself? What was it like in your school? :)

Won't love to but there were 3 other people! Didn't want people to say it's always about me like the typical AC boy. Haha jokes aside, I did think I was sharing my experience but perhaps that's not how it came off.

KC represent! After kcp, many of us could have gone with the better 'elite' schools but (at least during my time) a large hoard of us went to kc anyway. We are not slack, we just have fun. And while we have our bitchy mean girls side, all of us were family! And IJ friends are friends for life! Funnily enough, although many of the kc girls come from more affluent background, we generally don't have the elitist mindset. We may be a privileged lot and we acknowledge it but we never make it a reason to distinguish ourselves like that.

Hi jaylene, could you be a little more specific with your critic? That way we can take notes and make improvements in the future! Can't wait to hear what you have for us. :)

DELLAA their examples, their views are really vague and , how do i put it... i really don’t know how to explain clearly but the whole discussion became very pointless.. other than having good command of English, i really feel they don’t give any good suggestions or pointers.
Jade was a great host, the guy from the neighbourhood school spoke too little, and other two from the two good school just using very personal judgements (not representing the schools they were from well..)
I’m not good at explaining this but I hope it helps

@@jaylenehong I appreciate your point. The challenge is to fit everything on such a complex topic into a short conversation. Also, generalising for such a matter may not be appropriate, in fact it runs the risk of losing credibility as it projects a personal experience or thought on others, which may not be accurate. What doesn't resonate with us doesn't mean it is necessarily pointless. Nevertheless, your point is an important one as it raises the importance of knowing exactly what you are looking for. Once you do, you will be able to articulate specifically why you felt the conversation was pointless, and find the answers you are searching for.
I believe the key for us is to ask why we speak. Is it for us to be heard? Or for us to hear others? Or to enable others to be heard? They may not be mutually exclusive but neither is it a given that they all come together.

As an adult looking back, I am glad that I was part of the IJ fraternity. I couldn’t imagine what life would be like without the foundation laid during my time at IJ. Neither can I imagine my mom’s horror if I didn’t make it to IJ. So mom! Thank you for moving so close to IJ so that we could gain acceptance, also thank you for passing down the IJ heritage to me!

Schools don’t accept donations anymore. I scored 241 and my Father tried donating $300000 to ACSI but they rejected

Is it because the donation wasn't high enough? WE ARE KIDDING! *cough*notkidding*cough* Totally kidding. ;)

terence need to realise that not all schools are like ACS, where they have the ability and the money to holistically develop their student, and make them a 'well-rounded' student. he seems like the basic example of an elitist.

    • @terencelim4123
      @terencelim4123 Před 5 lety

Actually I do know that not all schools are like ACS. That's why I appreciate it and am proud to be an AC boy. Never taken it for granted. And I never once said that AC boys were better than everyone else, except RI boys 😁

Wow fellow AC boy haha #TBIYTB
Everything Terence mentioned is true though bout AC. Our day to day school life was actually more focused on being an all rounder rather than pursuing perfect grades. Legit no pressure for getting straight As. Got 40 over points L1R5 for midyears & prelims in sec 4. Failed everything except English. Cant believe i failed Malay too! Terrible LOL. Studied last minute & did okay for O levels to qualify for JC. What I liked was teachers in AC would always share with us their life experiences and whatnot during lessons. If you faced certain situations in life in the future/presently, is this what you should do or should not do? Is this right or is this wrong? There were a lot of critical thinking & thought provoking sessions in class even though they were suppose to be teaching us math or geog or bio or chem etc haha which was definitely memorable & molded us into fine young gentlemen.
GEP (Gifted education programme) kids were not well-liked as they should be sent to RI lol. Book smart peeps but socially awkward and weird for the lack of better word. That boy scout statement though. So true cause dad was from RI & he was in scouts. LOL🤣
Sports excellence was and is indeed an AC thing. Top Boys School for sports and games for decades. I rmb every year our principal (who was from RI btw but changed principal alrd) would grant the entire sch a day or few days off school if say AC Rugby won grand slam (A, B, C div Gold) or Water Polo got gold again likewise for Swimming. Which was awesome! Never got to experience it again post-secondary :( Also we had to go down to various venues to support our classmates in whatever major nationals finals there are in be it Cricket, Tennis, Squash, Sailing, Rugby etc etc. Which was a timely break from our usual weekly timetable plus its a nice exposure to different sports. I rmb our sec 1 orientation for 3 straight days, compulsory tryouts for every single available sports CCA in AC. Plus it is compulsory to have two CCAs throughout 4 years of sec sch life. Shag AF. On top of Eng, higher mother tongue, 3rd language, double math, triple science, double humanities, music, arts, PE and whatever electives we have. Somehow or rather we were able to juggle everything. Wouldnt trade the experience for any other schools. #ACpride LOL

Lol TKGS was never one of the top 10 schools. It was always just an above average good school but not to the extent of elite
