During the first year or so of suffering with tinnitus I found myself doing everything I possibly could to avoid it. I was stressed and miserable and mourning the loss of silence. This just exacerbated the problem. Then one day, I decided to take a different approach - I bathed in it. I actively listened to it and very quickly my brain began to tune it out. I can now go days without recognising it.

Fantastic advice as always… just going through what I’d hope is a spike and it’s a bad one. It was just getting somewhat comfortable with the current baseline. I was going through for the past four months or so. The Spike is much louder than normal. It brought me to remember just exactly what I went through the first time the stress and anxiety are overwhelming. Thank you for videos. It’s nice to know we are not going through this alone.
Trying to get some good sleep while going through Spike is next to impossible. Do you still have the same routine to get sleep or have you changed that over the years?
    Regards,
    Derek.

Hi Derek . Yes spikes are unfortunately part of the journey. I just been through a bad one myself and am only just coming out of it . The important part to remember I think is that you will eventually get back to a better place. You probably already know that but sometimes it’s nice to have someone remind you. Stay strong 💪 . Going to have a lot of new videos on this channel and I hope they help if you get chance to see them. Sending best wishes. Jack

Ive had this for 20 years and really been up and downs. Having problem with "spikes" even after "low level sounds" like a meeting for example or just somebody showing something on their cellphone can send my TT ballistic. (i also got Hyperacusis and fear of noise)...... What is your view on protection for the ears? Do you protect only when on loud event like music etc or do you protect from even "normal day noises" like a meeting, dinner with family, doing the dishes, going for a walk etc?
Watched your other video and i can relate alot to this "phase 2". i have got MAJOR spikes 4 times (sadly permanent ones) from Carcrash, concert and a motorcycle backfiring in a garage and all the times im back at square 1.... im SUPERAFRAID of getting my tinnitus worse now so really appreciate hearing from you that you actually "can have a good life" even with severe tinnitus. Im living like a hermit ATM and really struggling to enjoy life. I dont even dare to go outside most of the time for the fear of garbagetrucks, dogs, motorcycles etc etc.
    Thanks for giving me hope

Hello. Really sorry you have been having ongoing issues with your ears. I think what you mentioned is something that only a doctor can advise you. Sorry I can’t be more of help. Jack

This mockery of life is horrible: There is nothing if this sounds stays. Tinnitus is the prove that god doesnt exist and our body is weak. We are not here to suffer, I think Im gonna end it and punish my body.

Hi. I’m really sorry you are going through a bad time with your T. There are some help lines available if you want to talk to someone . Tinnitus UK for example have good helplines . There number is on their website . I’ve been through some tough times with my T but they always get better. Sending you best wishes .

Dr. Susan Shore’s Auricle Device will be approved by the FDA hopefully this year in the US. Depending on its distribution… it may be actually in clinicians hands by the end of next year. Even if you don’t live in States … you have to hold on for this. This is the world’s first double blind / placebo controlled studied treatment that actually lowers tinnitus (by an average of 65%). So hang on …. I’m going through a brutal time too …. But we have to hope that thing will work and will actually become available in the near future.
