Yes. I am a graduate student lecturer and we had at least three lectures from administration about relationships with students during our ONE WEEK training. They made it exceptionally clear that even friendships with students are prohibited and if anything close to that begins to form, we have to alert our superiors immediately. The reigns loosen a little with graduate students having frienships with faculty, but not much.

I don't think she knows what tarot cards are meant to be used for or how they work. Tarot cards do not tell you specific details, they tell you ideas and expose inner problems and potential solutions for example, but never meant to be used to solve a freaking crime. Interpretation of tarot cards depends on the practitioner. Interpretation does not equal hard facts. Also, you don't have to be psychic to use tarot cards and other divination techniques. Tools such as tarot cards, tea leaves, and runes are meant to be an avenue to find answers and does not require innate psychic ability.

Accusing someone of murder is already terrible, but doubling down on it and continuing to run their name into the dirt, even after being proven wrong by evidence, makes it clear this attack is purely malicious and delusional. I know she won't see time in jail due to the nature of this case, but she deserves to spend some time in jail for this. My favorite thing that people do to discredit and trip up psychics is when they ask them to find 'missing people'. They'll bring in an old photo of a child and ask them where they are, what happened to them, etc.
And without fail, the psychic will typically spin a story about how they were murdered by their kidnappers. Some particularly vile ones will even point to an actual physical location where a body was 'dumped' or suggest a 'suspect'.
But at the end of it, the person will reveal that the picture was actually an old photo of themselves or someone nearby.
It's absolutely glorious to see those scammers get so embarrassed and upset.
I would LOVE to try to do something like that with her, just to see what absolutely insane bullshit she'd try to spin, and to see how she'd fight back against the truth once it was revealed. Sadly, I don't live in Texas.

Imagine spending your entire life working and going to school in order to establish an exemplary career, teaching young minds, living your life and minding your own business, when all of a sudden, you're dragged into the spotlight by a stranger who invents a series of lies about you doing everything that goes against your moral, professional, and ethical code---for TikTok clout.
The four young people who were murdered were the victims, of course, but this professor is also a victim of this whole sorry mess. I wish I had never heard the professor's name, because none of us had any right to know it. Forever after, any time anyone meets her, they will immediately associate her name with this tacky drama that had absolutely nothing to do with her.
What the TikTok psychic did was a different kind of "murder," she killed Rebecca's right to be known for her own merits, her own character, and her own work. She took away everything that the Professor worked for, took away her right to define herself, and turned her into That Professor Who Got Defamed, Doxxed And Accused By A Phony TikTok Psychic Tarot Reader.
Believe it or not, people still have the right to define themselves, to be known for who they are to the people they want to invite into their lives, and for their own merits and achievements. TikTok Psychic stole that from her, along with her privacy and right to live her own peaceful life on her own terms.
TikTok Psychic is not the victim. She is an awful person who tried to elevate herself by inserting herself into a tragic crime by wrecking an innocent person's life and reputation. There is no dollar amount that will ever get back the privacy and peace that she stole from Rebecca. Suing her for defamation doesn't seem like it goes far enough to get justice, but since it's the only available remedy, I hope the judgment against her is huge and she spends the rest of her life making restitution. I also hope that part of her punishment is that she is forbidden to use the Internet, and maybe the court can order her into therapy.
She hasn't learned a single thing from any of this. At least now, she has been exposed as a crazy person who has no qualms about ruining anyone else's life, but if the judgment doesn't take a layer off her backside, no one will ever be safe from her harassment, lies, and false accustions again.
I could not be more disgusted.

Her defense at one stage of the defamation suit is that SHE was not accusing Scofield. The cards were. She's just relating what the cards told her.
But "republication" of defamatory statements made by someone else can still be defamation, if she had a reasonable basis to doubt the information. The "reasonable" part of this means it's a community standard. Not what she thinks is reasonable but what a reasonable person would make of it.

She tried to pull the “my truth” BS in regards to the professor being guilty when it’s objectively true that she is or isn’t involved… it’s not a subjective answer. She tried to justify her nonsense and discredit the judicial system by saying “well something can appear to be true but that doesn’t mean it’s right. Like my gps has told me turn left here and it ended up taking me to a dead end and if I would’ve listened to my gut I wouldn’t have hit that dead end.” The mental gymnastics this woman goes through is unbelievable.

She doesn’t actually believe this. She’s trying to save her ass now that the accusations can ruin her life. She’s a narcissist and can’t handle being told she’s wrong and that she now has to face consequences for her actions. She’s deluded herself into thinking that the professor is responsible for ruining her life and reputation and is using that as justification to continue slandering her. She’s delusional enough to think she’s smart enough to talk her way out of this in court and win. But I 100% don’t think she actually believes that her tarot card readings actually mean anything. Or maybe she does and that makes her even more scary and dangerous. Either way the previous points I made still stand

Is this about the Moscow murders? Because that’s my town. That makes all of this super personal to me. Have her show up to a farmers market and ask how much support she’ll get from the community. I was afraid to leave my house for months. How dare she fear monger like this!

Super personal because it was in your town? Why would she also go to the farmers market and ask for support?
Not to mention, I’d hate to be the family of a murder victim and talking about how their murder is “personal” to them purely because you lived in the same town. Don’t use someone’s murder to try and gain attention/sympathy.
