    Once again a top notch through review. I was thinking about these because of the awesome accessories, but am very sensitive to emphasis on treble. I will think hard, or maybe go with a more neutral to dark IEM. Thanks for the detailed test results, emphasis information, and comparison as it really helps.

    comparisons with many other iems is very useful as it let us position the s12 pro relatively to other iems we already heard in the past. taking the pain to give them grades to position them more precisely is an apreciated effort few reviewers do. but instead of speaking the ranking with words in the video please consider doing a graphic as a picture is worth a thousand words. it takes 5 minutes in google sheets ;)

    Nice review! Personally I had a hard time with comfort on these, presenting pressure points after about 20 minutes of listening. Also it’s good to note there is a non-pro version that has identical sound for $120. A stellar value.

      @@ArefinGamingandWork Comfort is very specific to each person, you may not have an issue. I know some people were able to get a bitter fitment by swapping tips and cable. Personally resin earphones tend to be more comfortable for me. My favorite Planar IEM I've tried is the TinHiFi P1 Max. It has a more neutral tuning and a more comfortable fit.

    I have Timeless and S12 Pro. Not sure what your hearing at all but Timeless is definitely more detailed than S12 Pro especially in the mids and vocals. That being said at the moment I listen to S12 Pro more due to more bass and a slightly better replay for more genres of music. Timeless can sound a bit stale on electronic music but absolutely shines on live instruments. Incredible really.

    That intro music that you use is awesome. On a completely unrelated note, do you have any in ear monitors that have verticality to them? I do not recall you mentioning any of them in your reviews, but I could just be forgetting something.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  Před rokem +1

      The Andromeda comes to mind; they pose SOME verticality. IEMs just don't have the capability to present verticality like headphones might. Then again, it's hard to find a headphone that presents verticality.

    As always an excellent and very detailed work!
    One question: do you use them with silicone tips? I can only listen to IEMs using memory foam tips. I know they lower the high frequencies a little. Would using memory foam tips make the S12 PRO calmer in the treble?
    Thank you again! Greetings from Brazil (Rio de Janeiro)

      Ah, thank you very much for the answer. Well, now I don't really know what to do since I bought it first and researched it later =)
      It should arrive next week. It was relatively cheap for its normal price (equivalent to 99 dollars).
      If it has any resemblance to the highs of the Sennheiser HD 560s, it will be bearable for me.

      @@adrianomoreira1341 Hi there, there is a database with EQ's for MOST IEM's, these included. Most of the big reviewers have their own uploaded on there (crinacle, RTings.. tons more). Definitely worth looking into. It's really really easy to do using open source software. One is called 'Peace' and has the autoEQ button in there somewhere which lets you search for your set/who made the EQ. There are plenty of guides on here on how to do it.. I'm terrible at explaining lmao

    about s12(pro version is only a difference in shell color and cable), i confirm it is slightly sibillant, what i ended up doing is putting s12 in one ear and olina in the other ear, our brain mixes the 2 signatures in our head creating in a rich and complex sound which i prefer over s12 in both ears or olina in both ears, this iem mixing in the head is a simple psychoacoustic trick more people should try.

    Hi... I am a music lover and a guitar player.. I listen few hours a day music. I just started learning about DACs, headphones, cables, receivers. I am interested in how much better is usb dac + akg k361 headphones which is around 400$ more than the average laptop/pc/phone + cheap headphones? Comparing that 400$ to 4000$? Where does the law of diminishing returns? I wish I had an opportunity to test this stuff.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  Před rokem +6

      The common audiophile talking point that spending more gets you more is a fallacy. Money has very little to do with performance or sound signature, and also is a poor indicator of construction quality. There is no objective price point at which diminishing returns occurs, and you have to do careful true A/B comparisons to figure out what sounds good to you.
      There is little to absolutely no audible difference among dacs. Dacs are very much the second least important aspect of your audio chain, "audiophile cables" being the very least. Anyway, most modern laptops and phones and tablets have good dacs, and their real limitation is the amp sections, which tend to be fairly underpowered. Dongle dacs usually are more efficient and provide more power.
      The bottom line is that headphones/IEMs all have their own different sound signatures. A cheap headphone doesn't necessarily sound worse or better, just different. There are plenty of excellent headphones well under $200, and many mediocre headphones that cost several hundreds or several thousands of dollars. It just depends on what you're looking for.
      You might want to first decide what type of sound signature you want from your headphones, then do research about the options available. Ignore the hype and BS behind dacs and amps--that's mostly a load of malarkey. You'll end up saving yourself a ton of money and frustration.
      Hope this helps.

      @@NoThemeReviews Thank you. I appreciate your practical way of thinking. I agree that the best thing you can do is try for yourself. For example audioquest cobalt. • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  Před rokem +1

      @@igorperic5232 Speakers have their own sound signatures which is different from sound signature from headphones. You will hear a difference--but that's the difference in the tuning of your speakers and headphones. As for any audible differences between your laptop and the Cobalt, I can't predict that. Assuming your laptop has a good dac, it's unlikely there's going to be any difference in sound signature. The Cobalt should provide more power output for your headphones than what you'd get from your laptop by itself. It is a physiological fact that the louder a sound appears to human, the clearer or "better" we believe it to be. That's why some people claim a dac or amp "sounds better"--because they failed to volume-match if they did a comparison at all.
      Anyway, I think the Cobalt is way overpriced for what it provides. Before you buy it, you may want to do more research on dongle dacs under $200.
