    After several experiments with different cooking pots, I've settled on old Revereware copper bottom stainless steel pots and pans as my go to stuff. Heat quick, east to clean and cheap at the thrift stores. The best ones are the older ones, they have a thicker copper cladding and are identified by a large (silver dollar size) logo on the bottom.

      Thanks so much that’s great to know I’ll have to find some of those I actually have a couple of the newer ones and love to use on the stove but will keep an eye out for those logo bottoms

    The Dietz no. 8 Air Pilot is a great lantern. I have a couple of the Hong Kong versions and both burn great with a nice flame. Good video and thanks for sharing.

      Yes they are fantastic I agree and actually the air pilot was my first Dietz lantern so it does have a special connection to me 👍

    Godzilla, Speed Racer, and a couple lanterns - all a man-cave needs.

    What a wonderful upgrade, you've hugely increased the practicality of your lantern.
    I was going to buy the Dietz 2000 but after seeing a video in which the straight out of the box stove had multiple manufacturing faults that rendered it unusable, I bought a Feurhand 276 Baby Lantern instead!
    I've found myself looking at my Feurhand Lantern and wondering about doing exactly the upgrade that you have done.
    Having watched your excellent video, I will actually do the same on my lantern.
    Thank you for sharing your excellent upgrade and inspiring viewers to upgrade their lanterns. Subscribed.

    Very cool ! Still throws the same light, and you can heat up a can of Chunky Soup. A win/win in my book. Thanks Ken !

    Neat little project that you did to the lantern as a neat little cooker & provides light too! 🙂🙂 The electrical box ring is called a mud ring ( a drywallers term ) 🙂🙂

    Try denatured alcohol as the fuel. It does not make any soot. :)

    please don't spill any food on your beautiful Diets No.8 Air Pilot (streamline).

      Not just a mess, but it seems like a spill may risk cracking the globe from thermal shock.

    • @morayjames92
      @morayjames92 Před 3 lety

      @@pauljs75 These globes get used outside in the dead of winter so spills are not likely to crack the globe. You can spill and make a mess with any kind of burner/cook stove and this is not any different. Maybe just do Ramen noodle in a cup that way you are only heating water so there won't be a mess to clean up other than your cup and spoon. You can cook a lot of dehydrated meals in plastic pouches. add boiling water and place the zip lock bag into a pouch made from the reflective windshield reflector material. The aluminum coated Mylar which is usually in the form of a bubble wrap will keep food hot while it cooks or keep a dish warm while you cook other parts of your meal. It is a very useful cooking system and it flat packs and weighs next to nothing.
