I've been thinking for a couple years about making a root cellar like this. I have had my eye out for a non-functional chest freezer to bury, they're insulated on all 6 sides and already has a drain in the bottom for moisture or airflow.
I'm just curious how these root cellars when full of something like potatoes, how they attract moisture and critters and bugs.

Yeah that'd be sweet and I mean if you had screens on your vents I couldn't imagine bugs would get in... You should make some videos of your guys place in NC! that'd be cool to see... and for sure more moisture down by you.
