I so appreciate the openness about the struggles of academia. I don't wear nearly as many hats as you, but I still find the PhD process so draining sometimes. Thank you for being open with the fact that it's ok to love what you do and still find it completely overwhelming at times.

One of the best signs of a good leader is the ability to effectively delegate and the wisdom and discernment of know when that needs to happen. I think you and I share a need to have a lot of different things going on to be happy yet there is a very fine line to walk between "interesting variety" and "overwhelming". I also hear you on hating to delegate the parts I like, even though those might be easier to delegate. I wish I had a solution but I think the main one I have is making sure there is some flex time in each day for when things go wrong, and making sure there is some time each week to be totally "off" intellectually.
The dinner is brilliant. It looks filling and not overwhelming.

Remind yourself that comprehensive exams are only happening once. Once you finish them you’ll be able to put as much attention as you want on your business. You might not want to hear this but you might have to let go of that part of your business for someone else to take over it. It doesn’t mean you don’t care. You just need to prioritize comps right now. Your human, it’s okay not to be able to do everything at once at the moment.
