- Hey Good People,
I had a well kept Ford Escape in the shop this week for leaking oil. Customer took it elsewhere for a quote. Needless to say I had a different treatment plan for it, and I was able to save her some money.
In this video I walk you guys through my diagnostic process and show you how I remedy the problem.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Your favorite Mechanic,
Alex - Zábava
Unfortunately, many unscrupulous shops out there prey on the elderly and disabled, just because they think they'll be an easy mark. Those idiots make it hard on the ones like yourself that operate with integrity. Thanks for all you do brother!
My pleasure thank you for your support by watching
Unfortunately they prey on more then the elderly and the disabled. They prey on everyone, Most car owners know nothing about cars and will do any and all repairs they are told needs to be done. Its really sad and its really hard to find a shop that actually knows how to Diag a vehicle properly
Scammer with a wrench are the worst 😮
WoW!!
Integrity to the max!
We need more like you!
Good thing they escaped the first shop and came to you.
Need more technicians like you Alex especially here in the chi I mean Chicago il
I appreciate Alex and his humbleness of not trying to rip his customers off. I live two states away but I would literally drive there and back if I ever needed my engine replaced. There’s only one shop in my city that I trust to replace my engine because they have good feedback on engine replacements, but their labor costs are outrageous. $9,000 to swap in a normal non-performance stock remanufactured engine and for labor. So the people here who have access to a lift or have the stuff to do it in their house garage are lifesavers.
Parts prices are outrageous. A long block is prob 5k for quite a few cars. Then add additional parts found of 500-1000 that may need replacement
Wish I could find honest mechanics such as this man near me
Those escapes are good with the v6. The cats do go bad if an ignition coil went which is common. They have 3 cats but the 3rd is not monitored so you may get away with straight piping. You’ll have an up and down fuel trims while idling.
Not that many honest mechanics like you still out there unfortunately
Nice work. Integrity is given to us by god but it’s difficult for some to earn and keep that integrity. You and the wife have no problem with god your integrity is intact. Bravo team T.C.D.
👍Good stuff. Honesty! Wife’s 07 Chevy Trailblazer still on the road. I do most maintenance myself. Never had an oil leak (knock on wood) Never had the need to replace any gaskets. I must be living right. Almost 200K miles. They ride better & run better when they’ve been paid off many years! Lol!
Keep up the great work! Integrity 👍🇺🇸is everything!
Man I wish I had a mechanic like you near me . Keep up the good work man .
Before putting your body under a vehicle, shake it like your life depends on it. Because it does.
Lol that’s what you meant on the live. Fact every once in a while while doing the test, something will slide loose thankfully, it’s close to the ground and I can redo it and test again
Engine UV dye with the Beast V3 uv light works great to find the origin of the leaks. It glows orange that way it won't get confused with the AC dye.
another good one Alex, I am a picky old mechanic but I think you handled that job as well as anyone could
Thanks buddy
As customer it wonderful to see that there still great customer service and mechanics who really do care about others. Thank you
You sound like a good honest mechanic
Good man Alex. Great catch on the brake lines
Luv your work calm and Kool please open a shop in new Jersey we need you!
you are a very honest mechanic and your customer will tell other ppl to about you and what bad experience she had with the other shop.
Keep up the great work Alex…👍👍
Hard to find a good honest mechanic wish your was close to me trying to chase down this noise on my 1997 mark viii it's coming from the motor mount area but love your channel your the best
Great work
Nice to see an older car that has been taken care of. They brought it to the right shop for an oil leak. Good old valve covers, well it's a whole lot better than a rear seal or the quote from a shop doing things it did not need. I'm an old dude, I remember when you could pull valve covers off in just minutes. I was somewhat mechanically inclined, now days I'm not so sure. I guess if you do it enough.
We love y'all.
God bless you man
1st and 2nd Generation escapes were great vehicles. Seeing that mileage aint nothing for a well maintained escape.
Hosing down the bottom... cleaning the wound... good job doc...... Easier when the customer returns..to look for new oil leaking
Right on!
I knew what he meant . All good
I own this car, and I would say they need to change all the gaskets from the valve cover (front and back) and the timing cover gasket.
They don't need to change the oil pan gasket if it's not leaking .
I did it myself, and it took me a week since I was taking my sweet time. It's definitely a 3 days work if you are serious about it.
The timing cover gasket will always leak at the bottom left rear.
It's a good vehicle but a pain in the butt to fix it .
Wished you were in my area. I have dealt with so many bad mechanics.
Nice to see someone that is not going to bend you over a barrel... An '02 with bad brake lines ??? What did the brake fluid look like. I found out the hard way that brake fluid is not a lifetime fluid.
lets reseal the whole engine - great idea
I wish I could take my charger to him!!
Common issue on those 3800 upper intake manifold. Shops misdiagnose the upper intake manifold for being bad and the heads are actually gone.
I can't understand why some people out here drive reckless with the cost of auto repairs being so expensive
I wish you was in Tx cause I got a bill from the Nissan dealership for 5,876.52 and the only thing I went in for was an oil change the transmission is an cvt slip and low line pressure, evap vent control valve, gas cap,air filter, cabin air filter, spark plugs, lower control arm, I got an code 456 that’s the evap vent control and gas cap small gas leak I don’t know what to do about that please help me I got a new gas cap but the code still come on and the cvt transmission has to filter that needs change but they say it does not need change only thing I need is an transmission flush and the other code is an 101 I have an 2016 Nissan Sentra sv
Look for an honest mechanic in your area. If you are around Austin, I know 1 that is legit . He was a mechanic in a lot of dealerships around Buda and Austin. He just decided to be a mobile mechanic since it's more money
Cvt are junk. Sell that car and get a manual or car with good automatic
Lol I say all timers too .
That electrical splice on that lift is not Osha approved, Lol. I just installed a new pump on a buddy's lift, and as an electrician, those wire nuts can be spotted a mile away.
Yikes 😬 I better call my lift guy… and his name just happened to be the Lift Doctor lol thanks for letting me know
he could of literally made so much money if he didn't tell her damn 💯
Even bolted down those coils look pretty loose
do u do wet and dry compression check!🤔😌😟
I always thought you never spray water in the engine bay
Love your videos!
I did half of the work myself an I forgot fuel injection service
I changed all the gaskets , the fuel injectors, and the 3 cats. It was a hell of a job but it was worth it
What city are you in Sir? I know you need no business because Im SURE your shop STAYS full but if by chance someone I know or myself ever needs your services, you have MY business ANYTIME MR. CAR DR. 🙏🏾
I’m in the Atlanta area! Thanks for you kind words and your support.
How much did they charge for the estimate?
Fear sells. Scare them into emptying their pockets
This guys an all timer
Impressive for an escspe?? Ive seen them with over 250k....
I was impressed because most people dog them out and they don’t make it that long due to neglect.
An oil leak automatically gets a PCV or next higher assy, a clogged PCV is what caused large amounts of oil leaks and its part of the J.O.B. everytime with me, WTF Dude. Its not even on the list of parts from what appears to be a high end shop, maybe its included with the shop supplies???
Why do you have so many cars at your shop .I don't see anyone working on them
Wow that Pontiac looks rough. I don’t like to judge people but that owner looks like someone that is completely cheap. Like there missing a wiper blade on the window the engine bay is filthy and not listing to you tells me everything I need to know cheap beyond cheap.
I bet this is a Midas.
Why do you say an engine is toast just because of a bad head gasket??
Because it got very hot and most likely burnt up like toast But no seriously when an engine overheats, you could warp the engine block along with the heads, resulting in an engine rebuild and lots of machine shop work most of the time it’s just easier to replace the engine
From your videos, it's evident that you are an automotive enthusiast. It also suggests that you have either no or minimal formal training. Have you ever seen a doctor's office being messy. Ever heard the saying? 'A clean shop is a productive shop’. When it comes to getting paid for shop supplies in our state, you must itemize the bill to clearly show the customer what they are paying for. There's no fixed fee or percentage of the invoice. From the looks of things, it seems like the shops in your area are acting more like shade tree mechanics than business professionals. I recommend checking with your state, county, or city to confirm if it's legal in your area. otherwise, you might have to refund all that money back to your customers or pay a small fine. Ouch! Happy wrenching
I recommend you take your trolling elsewhere lol its EVIDENT you don’t know what you’re talking about. Every State is Different. I run circles around people with “formal” training 😂🤣😂 yes I’m happy wrenching… #hater
Please stop adding in your shop supplies that is the price of doing business!
Your comment shows how little you know about the business and what it takes to stay in business.
If not they have to itemize every can of brake clean, brake fluid, degreaser, greases, ect. Even a spare bolt or two. Its much easier and convenient , and way easier to keep up the books, to have a shop supply fee.
Ok, then I'll just go up that much on parts and labor and you'll not see it. At least this way everything is up front and transparent. There is not a shop anywhere that doesn't do this, unless they are going out of business due to poor management.
Good to see a bondsman not rob peeps who no nothing about there vehicle
