I handled PR for the Council that had to deal with Michael Carroll, the bin man who won the lottery and then got into all kinds of destructive behaviour, making his neighbours’ life a misery. He blew the lot and ended up needing legal aid when he found himself in court for the umpteenth time. It’s a fascinating thing about the human psyche that some people just don’t cope with life changing wealth. I’m grateful for having an all consuming passion for horses and would know exactly what to do with a stroke of extremely good fortune, I’d be able to help many more abused and abandoned horses. I think helping others maybe one of the keys to real happiness, whether that’s in big or small ways, size doesn’t matter. Very thought provoking topic, than you x

Having enough and enjoying it is a state of peace that has to be realized and embraced. It shuts down the need for moremoremore, but relaxing into the mindset takes practice. Just my experience. Love your videos!

I think that having enough money to live in a nice home in a safe neighborhood, buying healthy food, giving to others and some money to enjoy yourself (like self care and vacations) Having money can give you peace of mind and not to worry about how you’re going to pay your rent, groceries, heating bill etc etc

I overheard somerhing really funny this afternoon and keep chuckling about it. Real happiness would be having someone to share it with.

I can answer this question. With my take on it anyway. I've had money and not had money at various points in my life. And it doesn't change your character,so if you were happy -ish before you'll stay happy,if you were bitter and sad before you'll stay bitter and sad,but in comfort, that bits true, lol. For most of my life I've lived the sort of life of ingenuity and frugality recommended in these vlogs. I've made things and repurposed things. I've lived very comfortably and pleasantly on very little. And of course, human nature being what it is this can get you the enmity of jealous people who can't understand why you, less smart and attractive than them are living so well when they are struggling. (They drink alcohol, they purchase "substances" they eat out at the local cafe every day). I had an inheritance windfall, unsought and unexpected. I gave half to my niece. I spent the rest on -experiences
Trips to Paris. Worth it. Now I've spent it all, just like Viv! But I know I can live like I did before and as I'm a few months off 70 why have it in a bank to be taken off me. I could live another 20 years but my niece has had her share now when she needs it. My Dad sincerely believed that money was invented by Satan and that the World Money System was run by His Satanic Majesty (no not our Kingie, over, who knew) now I think an awful lot of people are also thinking that ! In my experience the worst aspects of having no money (which is not the same thing as being poor) is the lack of choice it enforces on you and the inability to invest in a sudden opportunity.

I love the sentiment, and in terms of human survival- you are spot on. Having financial security does provide a sense of well- being that in itself allows for contentment. You did mention the importance of having enough for a little vacation. It seems vital for humans to have a bit of breathing room in all areas to thrive and grow.
Having just enough may not allow for thriving.
Striving for riches for that point only seems folly. Striving for successes can bring riches.
    Great channel.

I think Paul McCartney wrote the lyrics for 'Money can't buy you love'...... a bit of practice what you preach going on maybe? All his kids are successful in their own right, not reliant on 'Daddy's money' like a certain 'entitled' people ....

He cared so little for money he's now worth 700billion! All credit to him. At the time of the Beatles break up he was the ONLY one who bothered to attend the lawyers and accountants meetings,he actually read all the paperwork,he constantly warned the other 3 they could all lose all their money if they didnt attend to business.
