My husband and I used to have one takeaway a month that I called 'payday takeaway'. Now it can sometimes be once a week because I've had a hard day or don't want to cook. I really want to stop doing that.

I like Klarna,, it started in my country almost 20 years ago, to make internet shopping more secure. I have never had debt to Klarna, I pay the bill when it is due, or before. I started budgeting - for real almost 10 years ago, when I bought a plot of land, and decided to build a house. It actually felt like a pay rise. I spent the first months writing down all my spending, and put them into categories. Many aha moments, no, not the take out coffee that everyone is talking about, or eating out, but food, groceries, I started recording how much food we wasted also, and I was disgusted.. That was an eye opener. I started making a meal plan, and shop accordingly. I started shredding up the cheese bites that was left in the fridge when we opened a new one. Everything from freezing the leftover jar of salsa, slicing the bread, and only take out the slices we need. Then I started going through the flyers from the stores, and made my mealplan based on what was on offer that week. I still do those things. Another big thing is to contact the insurance company for a better deal on your insurances, and the bank to negotiate the interest rate. Thankfully I have a fixed rate on my mortgage until 2029. I budget in some pocket money every month, to meet friends, a gift or whatever it may be.

Mine is I work hard, so instead of saving, it s okay to buy that bottle of wine, lipstick, new outfit or expensive cooking ingredients as I deserve it ?

Absolutely on the money with this video I can totally relate to everything you said. Being patient and trusting that if you work at it, it will get you there….

Going back to 1970 it was absolutely assumed that skool was for reedin n'ritin, incomprehensible useless maths like logarithms and half hour history. The Norman Conquest. Off sick that wednesday and you missed it. Chemistry was for mixing smelly crystals in acid, watching them change colour and fizz. Great fun. Everything boring, mundane, practical in real life we would of course pick up from our families,as Nan only lived down the road, there were dozens of cousins and everyone had that streetwise uncle who knew how to turn a dodgy profit on anything. That was the assumption. As i left school that year it must have been not long before that a class teacher told us,a class of14 year old girls,of course, you girls, you spend your money on make up and pop records. And I remember feeling deeply offended at both her lofty tone and her assurance. Ive made my state funded education sound dire. It wasnt so bad. I was in the comprehensive stream of a Secondary Modern School which I now know.was a post WW2 attempt to combine comprehensive + grammar in one school. They got dissecting worms and frogs,we got cookery!. (Because, lol,we were dimwits!! They hated murdering worms!) Im pretty sure that not just me but other classmates read etc independently and educated ourselves parallel to school anyway
But in 1970 girls got told your (future) boyfriend will sort all that out. Its not approved for you to concern yourself with.
