If pain has no purpose, why is it there?
I can see it's physical reasons. As well as how it makes you stronger.
I mean it's why rich people make their children get jobs. So at least they'll be capable to take care of themselves in one aspect.
There's a great deal of wisdom that one can not learn without suffering.
That being said. I can see why in the Bible a third of the angels tried to kill God and take over. Totally can see why.

I remember reading that back in the day, since the pain of labor was considered women's rightful punishment for the whole apple thing, if a women had an easy birth, she was considered to have made a deal with the devil. The family/ midwife would rub a little fireplace ash into her poor abused vagina to give her a (hopefully) minor infection, so she and the child wouldn't be ostracized and punished. My dad was murdered in August by a kid driving 120mph. My mom was also in the car, she spent a few days in the ICU and then 12 weeks in a combo back/neck brace. Fathers day is coming up, it'll be the first one without my dad. Its amazing how many people have tried to tell me to seek comfort in their god after everything my family has gone through. None of them give any regard to the insinuation that in their fairytale it it was their god that decided that all of my family's suffering was part of his plan. Anyway, in 2021 one out of every 93 deaths was due to a preventable vehicle wreck. Drive courteously, please. No one else needs to die the brutal death that my father did because of someone else's free, willing, and cognizant decision making.

My dad died when I was 14 and the female Bible teacher at my Christian school took me into an isolated room and told me that I had the devil in me. Some little girls there had asked if I was saved and I was honest and told them no. I was then bullied into getting ‘saved’ when my family had different Christian views of being saved (my family believed you have to be baptized first.) I was done with religion by 15! It's an endless conversation, but one that is worthy of deeper consideration.
One school of thought is that "HaSatan", literally "the accuser", is the father and instigator of suffering. His objective has always been to falsely accuse YHWH of evil to try to convince others to abandon and reject YHWH. He causes evil and disaster to happen, then whispers in their ears, "If your God really loved you, them why did he let this happen to you?" YHWH is seen as the father and instigator of all that is good. He allowed pain to occur as a means to communicate that something is wrong. If I break my leg and then I go to stand up on it, it will hurt. The pain tells me I need to get it checked out. If there was no pain, I would walk around on a broken leg and cause the break to get worse and worse. The same principle applies indirectly in a moral/spiritual sense. Mortality is a sobering reminder of the complications produced by evil - injustice, calamity, absurdity, etc. The kid choosing to drive 120 mph was an evil choice. For me the greatest consolation is my faith that life continues beyond the grave, and that there is an omnipotent Deity whole ultimately balances the scale of justice over the course of eternity.

God speaks to him that it was all a show of his power & since Job remained faithful in spite of all the absolutely unnecessary suffering as Job was a good person, God returns everything & makes his life even better than before. Basically Job gets all the winnings in life for his suffering, but we’re expected to suffer for life & then reap the benefits in death…. The big Unknown during which we very well could just be worms’ meat & have embraced all that suffering & more in virtue of “God.” Seems like sound logic to me if there ever was any!

Even as a child, I could not accept the teachings of that book (I used to be Methodist, not by choice but because of my mother). Just the way his children were killed off because they were just his property, and how his wife coming in with relatable reactions and questions was just rebuffed. I asked my mother and the church leaders why Job's kids were killed off when Job was the one who was being tested. And they said things that weren't in that book like "maybe they were bad people". The worst was when they said "well Job got better children later" and all I thought was wow, that's so scary... so my parents can just kill me off and get better children later?

Except HIS KIDS are treated as "winnings". His kids were killed so God went "here ya go, have some spare ones I had lying around".

I had a similar reaction to my dad's response coming home from the sermon about Abraham and Isaac and how the dad was going to sacrifice the son. I was pretty scared. So I asked my dad if he'd sacrifice me if god told him to. He didn't even skip a beat, immediately answering, "Of course I would! Any good christian man would do the same!" So not only is my dad to be feared, but so is "any good christian man." When they say Family Values what they mean is that their family does *not* come first.

Felt this like a sword in my throat. I'm a former Christian, and though I love my family to death and have genuinely good relationships with (most of) them, they all still believe this hypocritical shit. Every time something good happens they tell me that was god, and every time I'm struggling with something they tell me to seek his wisdom and that he's trying to "teach" me something. I still haven't found the courage to tell them that trying to follow his so-called wisdom and seek his will for years just led me to being bitter and judgemental and unhappy. I've loved who I am since abandoning the faith, and ironically I'm far more at peace now as an atheist than I ever was under the "king of peace."

This is based on my own interpretation and i don't associate with any religion, but i think a lot of people misinterpret this concept. Many religions emphasize the fact that there needs to be good and evil, destruction and hope, etc. The main takeaway shouldnt be that your god(s) want to see you suffer, but that we need that contrast. We couldn't be happy unless we are also sad sometimes. It's what makes us human, and i personally think that's something to celebrate. My life has not been easy, and I'm still finding my way, but at the same time I'm ultimately okay with what has happened. I've learned a lot that i might not have known otherwise and i think I'm a better person for it. It's the best way for me to come to terms with my situation, but i didn't exactly get there overnight so i definitely understand how hard it can be to hear that while you're still emotional and raw. I'm finally at a point where I'm seeing glimmers of light, so that also helps.
Also, i don't believe that you could do anything and go off "gods plan." I believe everything is predestined, but that includes your behaviors/attitudes. So like let's say i want to be a teacher. It could be predetermined that i will be, but it would also be predestined that i work hard to get good grades and graduate college. Even if i start off lazy, at some point it is my destiny to change my attitude and eventually succeed. Life is about growth, and i think your successes along with your failures are all "part of the plan." Just trying to bring a new perspective. I kinda think all religions are essentially describing the same energy, so I believe in all and i believe in none. Anyway, thanks for listening and feel free to disagree

They always quote that "suffering" chapter and I think its taken out context. I could be wrong but My God doesn't want anyone suffering 50% off the day
