Norway is building the world’s first cruise ship tunnel. The project, called the Stad Ship Tunnel, will cost $260 million dollars and will help ships bypass the dangerous Stadhavet Sea along the Norwegian coast. Stretching 1.7 kilometers and with a height of 49 meters and width of 36 meters, the project will be truly enormous. While construction was first planned to commence in 2022, it has been pushed back and is now planned to commence in late-2024. It will take between 4-5 years to build and, once finished, will be the first of its kind around the world.

This video as well as this project once again validates and proves Nprways 12-century-old maritime tradition. Great nation, Great country. Thanks for this video !
Such a well made video 🇳🇴🇳🇴
Great video. Let's see you appear yourself more often too - good to put a face to the voice!
How random just to travel to norway for that. I hope you do a step off to the Mediterranian before returning.
Amazing video, thank you! Informative, also very impressive, that you came to visit the site!
Great video, but I have to question your use of the term 'cruise ship'. The tunnel will allow the passage of ships with a maximum of 16,000 Gross Tons, so smaller ferries will be able to use it, but not even the tinniest cruise ship. Cruise ships being built today range from 60,000 GT to 250,000 GT, averaging about 125,000 GT. Even average sized Scandinavian ferries will not be able to transit the tunnel, however it will be a very valuable asset for smaller vessels.
Maybe the thinking is that a larger ship can tackle any condition. Don't google Viking Sky.
Correct! It's a misleading title. Cruise ships were never the main purpose or inspiration for the tunnel. It's not referred to by that terminology.
Americans, not big on the detail...
The tunnel will be able to carry Hurtigruten Norwegian coastal ships, which are listed as cruise ships on their website. So, while these ships are smaller than typical transatlantic cruise ships, I’m only sourcing information provided by the company itself.
You might want to look up the definition for Cruise ships Dave, the tonnages you're putting out are completely irrelevant to whether a ship is a "cruise ship".
If it is a ship and takes people on cruises then it is a cruise ship, put "smallest cruise ship in the world" into google and it gives you the Celebrity Xploration at 320 tons as the smallest currently operated cruise ship.
And as said in this video the Norwegian Hurtigruten ships are correctly defined as "cruise ships".
This video is amazing! Even your sponsor edit was entertaining. Love these kind of videos. Keep it up!
Wow what a great video, i'm happy to come across to this page :)
Great video as usual keep up the good work 🎉
Really liked the videos styled like this
WOW great Video!
what other paces in the world might future ship tunnels be built.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Face reveal
Did you just go to Norway only for the video? Considering you are from the US, that must have been really expensive.
The most expensive part wasn't getting there but being there.
Norway's fuck-o expensive!
Went to make the video but also just for a fun adventure!
Why did you reveal your face man ?
I love a low key face reveal. 😎
No way

MN isn't an abbreviation for 'million'. It's just M.
they meant Minnesota
Mn is definitely an abbreviation for million. Remember that in many European languages they still use milliard to refer to 10^9
