Husqvarna 440 Inspection/Tune Up

- Told a cowork that I'll inspect his Husqvarna 440 because he has allowed me to hunt on his land. Other than a great things needed cleaning and the idle bumped up slightly, saw is ready to keep cutting.

Good luck in the woods buddy. I've had a few shots here in WV but let them pass waiting on the big boy to cross my path. I'll get a few does in doe season, like to have my freezer full. Have a question for ya , why won't my chain stay sharp and why is it so hard to get an edge when I do sharpen it? It's a rather new chain only had it a year it came on the saw when I bought it last year at tractor supply
Hard to sharpen could be a couple things. You hand file and if so, the file is no good and has rounded over, time for a new one. If using an electric grinder, you cam quickly heat the chain tooth up and cause it to temper and make difficult to sharpen by hand but may also not carry an edge so well. You could also he hitting metal in the wood and cause it to dull very quick.
To idle it up,.did you turn clockwise? In the video you did but you said that you had already adjusted it before you actually turn the screw clockwise?
Turn clock wise yes. The screw and the taper on the screw move in and the part of the linkage that contacts the screws taper opens up the throttle blades moreallowing the idle to be adjusted.

I know nothing of Jred saws. My goal is to day branch out more and learn about more models asomg as I can get them cheap and study them.
