    I bought this exact same saw not knowing how to start one of these. The seller said it was a return no start, but he bench tested it brand new worked perfectly. I took a chance and bought it. I could not get this saw to start at all unless I held the throttle wide open and almost cutting my leg off a few times. My buddy was into the tree cutting service and had a large monster one of these and had the same issues. It would only start if you tacked it right out. I found out from a simple youtube video that you need to read directions and follow common sense when starting these. Press the primer 6 or 10 times, move the lever to choke to lock choke and high throttle, it should only take 2 pulls on a bad day to get it to bark off, then without touching the throttle at all, move the lever to the normal run position, pull it and let it rev out for about 5 seconds or so then she will be good to go. This year, it does none of that and only runs if I pour 2 cycle gas in the cylinder with a new plug, it still doesn't run at all leaving me to believe its a major carb issue. One of the reasons why i'm here so thank you for going over this saw with us. These are just light duty homeowner specials and no one wants to work on them, but this saw ran for 7 years straight every year until this past year when it didn't.

    Working on autos you can never just go by the customers diagnosis. Gotta check for yourself. You can use their diagnosis as a jumping off point and I imagine it's the same with small engines.
    I got stupid and mounted a 14" OREGON Bar and Chain on my Ryobi 18V cordless 8" Pruning Chainsaw. Best thing I ever did. I'm not expecting to be felling 200 year old cedars with it, but it clears the trails of downed branches and trees perfectly. I can get better reach with the 14" bar and it cuts so much faster and cleaner than the 8" bar and chain that it comes with from the Ryobi factory. I pondered getting the Ryobi 40V 14" chainsaw but ultimately the excessive weight and size became an issue with that.
    It was a direct bolt in swap that took less than 15 minutes and came at a cost of $30 for the OREGON bar and chain.

    Thanks for the videos sir. I was wondering, what type of grease are you using when you are applying grease to the needle bearings on the clutch of the chainsaws you are working on? I've been watching you use the squeeze tube grease, but haven't been able to catch what kind of grease it is. Thank you for your time.

      If thats all you use it than most any bar and chain brand will work but remember, you get what you pay for. If you get the OEM stuff then you know it will fit and work properly.

    I have the Husquvarna 440 x torq. It has been gutless out of the box compared to all the Huskies I have had in the past, EXCEPT when it runs out of gas. The Last few seconds of gas the saw performs like a champ. Any thoughts or insites would be appreciated.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Před 9 měsíci +2

      When it runs out of gas its running lean. The engine will naturally scream when running lean but continuous lean running will ruin the engine. Its possible the carb is set too rich on the high speed but its also possible this engine is just slower than the other models you have.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes they have adjustable carbs but I'm curious about your starting procedure. Prime, choke. If you pull more than 2 or three times with the choke on you may be flooding it. Pull till it pops then take off choke and pull till it starts. It will start on fast idle till you hit the trigger.
