I am a longtime PC user and I bought this winter a 4TB MacBook Pro M2 Max with 64GB of RAM. I am very happy with my purchase even if it cost me an arm and a leg mainly because of the 4TB upgrade. I didn't want to edit with a SSD connected to my laptop and needed the space to store all of my active projects. I am glad that I went this route cuz my laptop is 50-90% full all the time.
Before I clicked I was asking myself why I didn't take any computer courses when I went to college in 1980. After your video: I passed computers 101! I'm definitely going to check out your other couses.

You can sometimes find some amazing deals in the local used market. I picked an i5 business laptop for less than the cost of a Chromebook at a local used computer store. I didn't have any ambitions of doing video editing, but I've been pleasantly surprised with how powerful it's multimedia capabilities are!
Wow! Wow!! WOW!!! This video was perfect. I will be the first to admit that I know just enough to be dangerous on this video’s topics. This really clued me in and decluttered a lot of my confusion when it comes to this. I am so glad I watched it. It covers ALL of the bases and I loved the opinions and pointers. I would add one thing that I found in a few months of intensive research before buying a computer myself: the 11th, 12th, and 13th gen Intel desktop and (to a somewhat lesser extent) laptop CPU's have hardware acceleration for video editing built into their integrated GPU's. This consists of media encoders and decoders that are very effective in sorting out computer-slowing 4K footage created with later-model mirrorless cameras, recorded in h.265 & 10 bit
Absolutely great video. Very fair and solid overview. I am a Macbook pro user but I'm ecstatic we bought a new Lenovo gaming desktop because it is much more cost effective than buying a new Mac laptop. Apple Soc is not upgradeable but our pc can make the leap from 16 gb to 128 gb ram easily. And many components can be upgraded and are user accessible. My next personal computer may well be a Mac again but I am happy we have a pc workstation here with gaming and massive media production capability
Great video. Im getting mixed opinions on Macbook Pro 14 M2. Would running the base model (16gb ram 52ssd) be sufficient for 4k drone and go pro footage. Im pretty fresh on video production but want to set myself up for success. Will also enrol in course.

I feel like I would get a mac for my dedicated editing machine even though I hate mac's. But with the optimization they do in their os, ram usage etc it's really good.

Wish I had seen this before I bought Mac Studio, had I known how you spaced yours I wouldn't have been it was ok to drop from my decade long tradition of 64 megabyte of ram to 32 as I was told they would be equitable. I guess it might be for photo editing but I was hoping to re-make all my old videos so they would appear good on large 4 and 5K TVs. I uploaded all my old stuff to CZcams before they allowed files above 100 megabytes.
So i just spent the most i could on an ipad pro 11 inch M2 model. I couldnt even afford the pencil or keyboard yet. But i got an iphone to film with an i want to edit on my ipad and from what you said onwards is that apple chips can keep up with higher powered machines. I was only able to get the 128GB base model with 8GB of RAM but seems like it can be adequate for just starting out. Learning davinci resolve an plan to start making content. From what i can tell the iphone with the ipad is more
Great video, thank you. Thinking about getting a Mac Mini M2 upgraded to 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. It's $ 1k and I think it should handle my basic 4k footage and basic editing well. Or should I bite the bullet and pay 30% more for the M2 Pro? I'd rather not.
