    First Digit:
    Rotate the dial clockwise with a slight upward pressure on the shackle. You will feel and hear a click in one location where the wheel gets stuck. The first combination digit is this stuck location plus 5. In the video it's 10+5=15
    Second Digit:
    Rotate the dial counter clockwise, again applying mild upward pressure on the shackle. The lock will get snagged again at only one point. This is your second number. If the dial gets stuck at multiple points, reduce your pressure on the shackle. In this video, the number is 29.
    Third Digit:
    Find this last digit with simple trial and error OR use the method as described in this expanded video to find it by feel. In this video, the number is 23.

      Correct. The 2nd number is the only tricky one to find really. The first is very evident. The third just quick trial and error. But that second number is key!!

    My hands are tiny! So I had some trouble getting the right pressure!
    So instead of using my index finger pointing UP, I turned the lock upside down, and put my middle finger instead. So I used my thumb to push up!
    Thank you so much!

    At last! The mathematical method didn't work for me, even using the fancy online calculators. Even your earlier, shorter video had me stumped. But this expanded video did the trick. Once I knew the third digit for sure and it still didn't open, I realized I was doing something wrong with the first two. Turns out, when dialing the second number, there is one case where you do *not* go past the first number: when they are the same! My combo was 0 - 0 - 32. Thank you Apache Pilot!

    Took me a while for the REAL 3rd step: I found these points
    First set: 0 to 1, 10 to 11, 20 to 21, 30 to about 31.2
    Second set: 4, 14, 24, 34
    Third set: 7 to 8, 17 to 18, 27 to 28, 37 to 38
    So 30 to 31 is the odd one out
    And my 3rd number was 31

    i think i know the 1st and 3rd number but i cant find the sticky point for the second number. Also i ripped off the back and looked at the discs and found the 3rd number but no idea what the second number is
    First number is 3, Third number is 8, Hard stop point is 30
    Edit: After playing with it a little bit and checking the discs while i was turning it, i have found that the second number is 21. i thought i felt a little resistance around 20-26 area but the lock is a little beat up so i assumed it was just from that

      The first bite point where his was 1 is almost impossible to go past but the second bite point I think his was 9 will be easy to go past so be careful not to go past. The second number will be a slight resistance to your turning motion so it’s very hard to feel, you have to go slow and try multiple times to see that your right. I followed his instructions and was able to crack a random lock I found on the grass. I think you will be able to do it

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  Před rokem +6

      The one way that has helped some folks is to practice with a lock that you know the combination for. Then increase your pressure just enough to be able to feel it “hit” on that number consistently, and try to get a feel for why that number is different than others and build some muscle memory for how it feels. I hope this helps!

    • @michigancitizen9548
      @michigancitizen9548 Před 7 měsíci +1

      But if you already know digit one and digit two ... then last number is easily found just by pulling up on shackle every 2 numbers while turning for last number. Or if you want, pull up on shackle on each number. Simple, easy, fool-proof! Makes absolutely no sense to try to do any 'pressure' or 'math' if you already know first and second number. @@ApacheRanch

    Found the first and second numbers using your techniques. 30-24-? The last number has been a struggle for me. I’ve tried going through your system of finding where it’s more loose (has more play). And yet im still not able to unlock it.
    Maybe it’s because my lock is a “Dudley” brand? But it is also a combination lock from 0-40.

      If you know the first and the second numbers ... then why look for the third number. Seriously, if you dial in the first and second numbers properly, then simply move dial clockwise in increments of 2 and pull up on shackle .. and the shackle will release itself when dial hits last number.

      I have watched dozens of these How to Pick a Master Lock Combination Lock videos. They always demonstrate on locks they know the numbers for. They need to start with a brand new, unopened packet, and discard the solution on the back of the lock. I went and purchased 12 new locks, peeled all the solutions off the back, then jumbled the locks up to make sure I didn't know the combinations beforehand. My success rate following the 'How to' techniques was 2 out of 12 locks.
