This is actually a massive improvement on the method I was familiar with.
An important thing to note is these locks have a specific formula: first, all the numbers are odd, or all are even. Second, the first and last number are always a multiple of 4 from each other. Third, the second number is always a multiple of 4, plus 2, from them. Using that formula, and an older technique that lets you easily figure out the 3rd number (similar, using finger pressure and basic math), you could reduce the number of possible combinations to 100.
Long story short my old method let you brute force your way in under 10 minutes. This is a HUGE improvement.
Can you give an example of what you mean? For instance. If the first number is 9, then what do you mean the third is is a multiple of 4 from each other?
@@erikaq765 basically, if the first number is 9, the third is going to be one of the following: 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, etc. and the second would be 3, 7, 11, 15, etc.
None of the facts are true for my combo
Almost true, cause the actual tumblers aren't triggered by the correct number, but the right location, and you can be 1 or 2 hash lines off of the 2nd and 3rd number and still pop it, but not the first number. And counter clockwise, there's catches at every 10th spot so if it sticks at 5, it'll stick at 15, 25, 35 and if it catches at 2, it'll catch at 12, 22, 32 but when you find a series where there's an anamoly, like 7, 17, 29, 37, then the 29 is your 3rd number but it will pop at 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31 if you get the first number right and hit the tumbler release on the 2nd catch point. Also helps confirm the first number cause the third number will stick as well when you find the first number but it's not as pronounced as the first number you add 5 two. That's where a lot of people mess up. They pull a l little too hard on the latch and it can catch the 3rd number so if you know what it's not, they won't get frustrated from using the wrong first number
My dial master lock story; my first day of USMC OCS (and a 31year career). we were told to collect our gear. I tried to unlock my locker but even with the combo it wouldn’t open. My DI S/Sgt Henderson was less than patient. He tried it once, didn’t work for him either. He grabbed an e-tool and knocked the lock apart. A fine introduction to The Marines
Fuuny you say that. That first say if OCS was the fastest I ever memorized a combination. Now 21 years later that same lock is in my sea bag and I'm using this video to open it.
Eric Hill I hear you. However I still had the printed tag with the combo-lucky for me
Too bad you didn't use the tactic I learned (?) in Army basic. I know how to open this lock in 10 seconds or fewer, without damaging it. I can open a whole row of lockers in under a minute, close them all up in 10 seconds without leaving any evidence it had been done or how it had been done. Don't use this lock for anything worth locking up if you don't me to be able to open it.
@@geebeerusty5261 Would you like to share this method?
@@geebeerusty5261 yes! please do a video!
Funny, I just found what you describe as an 875 Master lock laying in the street. The lock was unlocked, and had been run over a few times. I wasn't sure it would work at all. But I found your channel online, and watched you decode an 875. I didn't try to decode this one as it was already unlocked. So I followed your instructions on how to change the combination. I changed the combination to one I will always remember. But then the lock seemed to not open. So I then used your instructions, and tried to decode it in case I was one number off or something. I had to try several times, to get the feel right. And in the end it was the combination that I had set, that came out as the code. So I pulled extra hard, and the lock opened. Thanks. I now have a new -to me- lock. Thanks. I do have a few other dial type master combination locks that I have forgotten the combination to. So I'll be watching your instructions again to see if I can find the code I used to use. I'll let you know.
Years ago I took a home study course on locksmithing. A cousin sent me a dial Master lock that the combination had been forgotten. I found instructions in the Locksmithing journal, on how to find the code by drilling the case in a certain spot. I drilled the small hole, and then decoded the lock, and wrote the numbers down. But then I had to fill the hole, and smooth it all down and paint the case to hide the fact that I had drilled the case. I like your method better. You don't have to hide the hole.
Get some lock Lube at the hardware store, squirt it in there, should free it right up. These locks get sticky so they won’t accept the correct combination (tumbler sticks or something). Lock Lube fixes that.
Its cool to see Creed found a hobby after the office ended
Sounds more like the "Funny lookin' guy...in a general sort of way" from the movie Fargo.
😂😂😂
I can't believe there's not a cigarette burning in the background. Great video though.
Your explanation is among the best I've found.
I couldn't understand what anyone meant in other videos but this one I got it! Thank you for this video!
First Try.!!! Mr. Keys...you saved me a TON of hassle. Thank you so very very much! 🙏🎯
I came across an old brass and oak post office box with a combination lock. I didn't think I was going to have any luck getting it open. . . . Until I watched your video! Thank you!!!
Took me a few hours of tinkering, but THANK YOU. By far the easiest and most straightforward method!
You Sir, are a very excellent teacher/ communicator. A rare and oh so valuable trait. Please don't understimate this gift, if you don't already use it a lot You can affect people greatly with a talent like yours. Plus you're very pleasant to listen to. Thank you.
😂 sounds like some one got the hots 😂😂😂
@@dexter-df1tvlol, " Got the Hots", !!! 😂 I haven't heard that in a long time! He's a married man and seemingly a good human being so whether or not I would or could or do," have the hots", for him, I do mean all the good I say about him or anyone I share my positive opinions with 😁✨, because that's the kind of world I want to live in .
I’ve watched a few of these to reclaim an old lock that I had forgotten the combo to. Your explanation was by far the clearest for me to grasp. Thanks for such great content.
Did you manage to open it?
@@danielmcpherson9062 no
I must be a total idiot cuz I’ve watched 4 of these videos and cannot figure it out.
I'm going to be honest with this man had to say is correct. I did exactly what he said I did get a little frustrated but he explained it very clearly and I am able to pop my lock open now. I went over to combination several times to be sure I was correct. I want to say thank you
This is exactly how I imagined a lock-pickers voice would sound
Sounds like Rich hall.
check out lockpickinglawyer
Yeah lol
So you've never watched LockPickingLawyer
@@sudonim7552 about a thousand vids now
i have done this for like 2 and a half hours. I tried the math way, i tried 20 different videos, this worked
So I start law school, and they give us a locker. I still have my Master Lock from high school from like 2001. I think I remember only one number. I follow his first step and fill a pull and I suddenly remember the other two numbers. This man is a legend. The internet remains undefeated.
This video was the only one that worked for me. Thank you, it saved my ass!
After watching several variations of this technique, I landed here and darned if it didn't work. Thanks!
LETS FREAKING GO! OMG THAT WAS SO SATISFYING! After 10+ years! Thank you so much, that was so much fun!
Thank you! I watched a few other videos with no success. Your explanation was the best! I got the combo in one try following along with you.
Recap for when I try later: Add 5 to first number, pass number, feel for 2nd number, for 3rd number, first try with subtact 2, then subtract 4 each time and try. (His was 6, 32, 18) Thank you!
Thx
I bought a Master Combination lock out of curiosity - I am a hobby lockpicker and none of the locks sold in stores near me pose any challenge. But I have never done a combination lock before.
Opened my lock, peeled off the thingy on the back with the combination without looking at it, stored it away in my wallet.
Tried this method, works like a champ. It was my first time doing it, so took about 10 minutes. Not too shabby at all.
Thank you for this explanation. Got a lock for free at a garage sale because who's going to pay money for one with a missing combination? Tried several other videos before this worked. I imagine there is variation between individual locks so different methods might be necessary, but I was getting frustrated and I really appreciated your patient and detailed descriptions.
U are exellent no1 teacher i open my lock 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰thank u very much
Thank you so much I watched four videos before this and they all didn't work for me. But yours did! Thank you thank you!
fyi i tried your method and it worked on my daughter's lock!
Just tried this on an old lock id lost all hope on- and was about the throw away because I'd forgotten the combo.
This worked!!! So pumped! Took me a couple tries but I got it :)

How many numbers does this combination lock have and do you have have all numbers of combination to open it
Saved $3 Sweet!!
I watched 2 others' videos before trying this one. This is the one that worked. Thank you.
THANK YOU! I had my lock stuck on my bag for years. Tried many different hacks from videos I’ve seen, none of them have worked until now.
I went scavenging in my school lost and found and found a lock like that. It worked! Thank you!
Awesome.
Out of all the diff ways ive read and seen i think this was by far the easiest and best way, thanks man.

I couldn't get the tension right on my lock, but you wanna know what happened? I kept getting a feeling that i remembered the 1rst number after watching this video, so i started using that as first, and after rotating and trying numbers twice the code just popped in my head (10 years later). LOL i'm so happy 😭
Nice!

*****Best instructional video - thank you for being so thorough!
I FIGURED IT OUT!! I found a lock on the floor in the art room of my school and was determined to firgured it out
This worked easily after I really focused on the tension of the shackle! Thanks man
Love it! I figured out my combination 😅 now I can use it when I go to the gym 😎
excellent video, Mine opened after the 3rd attempt. first time in over 20-25 yrs in having this lock and forgetting the numbers. I kept it for fun and trying to open with no success during the years. I gave it to my 11 yrs old son so he can play with it and keep entertained in trying to open it. Today I got a little serious in trying with him and it finally opened. Thanks again,
Thank you!! I have a ton of these from work & wayyy old ones from school I couldn’t get. Imma try this!!
Definitely using this on one of the empty lockers at school so I can have two! thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for the help really needed to break in the locker of my friend ❤❤❤❤
7:22 Haha holy shit I miss K-Mart!! Well at least 80's/early 90's K-Mart with the awesome cafeteria, blue light specials, and Tuff Skins pants. Good times.
Thanks for taking the time to show us!
That’s awesome. I have one in my side table for years now hoping the combo comes back to me because I have used it since high school lol. Now I can figure it out. Thanks
Worked like a charm and salvaged an old padlock. Thanks!
Hey thanks! Took a few attempts, but got it fairly quickly following your instructions.
Thanks a million ....I had forgotten my combination..but this method allowed me to open my lock...great job ..appreciate much
As a small child I really had fun picking up combination locks and had to stop it was annoying if you just steal the locks instead of driving, now after 45 years I'm starting with lockpick and it's even more fun! want to learn everything!
After like 2 hours of trying other videos on youtube, i finally came across this video, FINALLY I GOT IT!
It's not so much getting in somewhere or opening a container but solving a puzzle set before me that drives me to understand lock picking.
Thank you! Decoded my gym lock that I forgot the combo to, you just saved me from buying a new lock.
Excellent process , your method worked for me after going through a lot of different videos. Thankyou
THANKS KEYZ, HAD THIS LOCK IN A DRAWER FOR DECADES, WASN’T SURE WHY I KEPT IT WITH NO COMBO. I WATCHED 3 HOW TO VIDEOS, YOURS BEING THE THIRD AND THEN SUCCESS. AWESOME
Wow, thanks , it worked, your instructions were perfect, in patience and guidance 💯💯💯💯💯
Its like magic😁.. I remember the comination lockers back in the day also.. I will be opening a lock I have around here that don't have the combination.. lol
Hint; lubricate the lock to get a better feeling for the clicks. The instructions work like a charm; thanks for sharing this information
Nice and easy ! Figured it out in just under 2 mins after watching
Thank you I have finally unlocked my combination lock which I have been struggling to open for weeks so thank you so much for this video
It even worked on my princess' chastity belt. Thank you Keyz.
Jesus Christ I hope you're joking
Wow ! This actually works exactly as he explained. I had a Fortress lock that I used before all the gyms closed for Covid lockdown. So of course by now I couldn't remember the combination. It took me just two tries to get the combination. As he says in the video, this is not a high security device !
Thank you !!
Hi Bobby, first time viewer and new sub. Enjoyed your explanation and demonstration of the most common combo I've seen in my lifetime. Can't wait to get my hands on one and give it a whirl. Thanks much and Cheers!!
I’m so shocked that worked! Thankyou!
That is awesome I need to try this some time. Thanks for sharing this stuff
Thanks man just got my locked opened up thanks to your very helpful video.
Wonderful. Now I can get into just about any school locker no problem.
Thank you!!! I watched several videos for how to get my lock open but this one is the one that finally helped me get it open!
I cant find it yet
THIS WORKED! I think different methods work for different Master locks. This one worked great on my lock.
It worked exactly as you described and so easy. Much better than others that I’ve seen dealing with this matter of combination locks.
ya this method looks a lot easier than the math one! i got a bunch of combos i will try this on! thank you mr keys for the new method!
Forgot my gym combo due to COVID. This worked. Thanks you the man
Thank you for this tutorial😊😊 i unlock my padlock for just 5 minutes😊 thumbs up for this😊😊
Well spoken , very well step by step training . Good job! Thankyou
thank you i found this video and it helped me so now i can open my lock
Just used this on a different type of master lock. Same shape and rotational dial and all, but it only goes up to 19 with bigger spaces between the ticks. For posterity's sake, if you're here with the same lock, after the first sticking point, add 3 instead of 5. For the third number, since there are only 19, just go through every tick till you find it. Thanks a bunch!
This is the only method that worked!!! I tried 5 or 6 others before I found this one!
worked like a charm! thanks! it took me around 5 minutes to get the tension right.
Great video. I was able to open my lock in 53 seconds.
Thanks. I have a drawer with a few locks in it that is like to get new use from. I appreciate the education.
I have a blue colored master combination lock that I’ve had for several years. I misplaced the combination and so I hung it on my garage wall until I could find it. I haven’t found it but did find this video. Your method worked perfectly. After only three tries it unlocked and so now I have the combination. Thank you!
Lee Centner Sweet, I'm really happy it worked out for you.
Lee Centner LOL, and now so does everyone else!
You are a god send, I needed to get my flak and Kevlar out of my locker and I found your video. Helped me out so much!
Wait what? You have a flak in your locker? Lucky.
@@legoengineworkshop5171 yeah where do yall keep yalls flak?
@@Charlister_ wait I thought you meant the ww2 kind of flak
And Kevlar as in an armoured helmet or clothing
@@legoengineworkshop5171 no lmao my Marine Corps issued Flak
THE combo lock when I was in school was a Dudley. I'm sure no longer made as I never see them. And the cheapos were gold in color and decoding them was a breeze. Just pull and turn, the first # was it. Go other way and when it stopped, that was it too. Sameo for 3rd:-)
you are very good with teaching... thanks a lot.
Oh my gosh! You are a genius!
New sub. That was an awesome technique! Now I have to go buy one to do it my self!!
I know what my combination is, but I still tried it though. The first number was so close to the first number of the real combination number. This way of decoding didn't work for my lock. But great vid. You explained the action very clearly! 👍👍👍👍👍👍🙂🙂
Fantastic! This is the 6th or 7th video I followed and it finally worked. I think it has to do with your detailed explanations of how each number should feel, rather than how they should sound, that helped me get the lock back, Thanks!
Can’t tel you how about dial locks I’ve gone through having forgotten the combo ... thanks for this informative vid ...
Only took me 5 minutes...again thanks a million
Thx my sister had a 3 ywar old lock and it took me 2:36:54 seconds to do it and i found the code out was worth it.
This might not work for ur lock but everyone in a while locks have the same code mine was 8-15-7
Nice decoding,
I used to love all types of combo locks. But then a little website opened and started off. And by the time it was a big deal... It killed all my lock knowledge at that point. Good old CZcams. Then I decided to never need a combo or key ever again. And even though a key is my preferred method of entry to my home. I don't actually NEED it.
I just did this with a lock that I had forgotten the password 5 years ago, super simple
I hate when I forget my locks password.
Your video was very helpful thank you
Worked for me, TYSM.
Oh goody! I'm getting a new bike!!😂🤣🤩
Great tutorial,thanks for sharing 👍👍🔓😘😘😘😎
Good work, yet again, Bobby!
thanks, it is really amazing. i unlock one just now
gonna print the link to this video onto a bunch of tiny pieces of paper and spread them around a campus when the next school year starts
Can't wait to try this out. Nice thourough explanation and demonstration!
Thanks, I just got done putting my lock lab back together.
I try and explain the best I can. If you haven't seen vid 7 or 10 check them out too.
Cool, I've a lock with long lost combination..I'll try it!!
I watched a few videos about unlocking these locks. My lock is a fortress lock. You just have to do what he said. It's all in the feel. I was able to get the my lock open in 30 seconds. I'm amazed. You need to apply just the right pressure. Find the first number, then I went the other way around and felt in drop in to the next spot. Then I went other way around. I wasn't even paying attention to the numbers. It just opened. It's like picking those cheap 3 digit number combo locks. You just have to feel it.
I can imagine:-) lol
That's cool, thank you
