Hey guys, to clarify - the £500 upgrade was only offered by SEAT as a special deal on top-of-the-range Leon Cupras. SEAT still don't offer the upgrade on the Ateca, but through ABT you can upgrade either car, just at a higher price.
carwow a much higher price. I got this upgrade installed and definitely wouldn’t buy it again! Its not worth the money
@@cupra-400-abt6 Yeah, that's because it doesn't give that extra +50hp. Remap it properly and you'll definitely feel the difference ;)
They don’t offer it in Finland though. I asked them and they said it voids the warranty.

ABT should be offered to Ateca owners for sure. Wonder if anyone will mod the Ateca like they do the golf, a 500-600bhp Ateca would be a real laugh
Hgp has 480 ps turbos for the cupra ateca (or any of the ea888.3 models with the new paricle filter)
@@thomashuygen3246 nice! I'd imagine the Ateca can be tuned in a similar way to Golf R / S3. 600bhp by using meth injection would make it a VERY interesting car, however handing would become the real issue giving its size/shape

@@Felipaugustoex2612 it does look sporty but not many would expect it to run sub 5 seconds 0-60, let alone possibly be running 4, 5 or 600 hp, would give many a shock at the traffic lights 🚀

Considering the weight difference I much more impressed by the Cupra definitely! And in its own class it’s mega.

£500 for 50bhp. Absolutely worth it! And keeps warranty. Wonder why vw don't offer the same upgrade under warranty
As a Golf R owner myself, I can confirm that VW does offer the same upgrade. It's an ECU tune that brings the car up from 292 HP to around 370. I live in the states and VW offers this for around $1500 and it doesn't void warranty. The dealer said that you can get the same tune for around $500 from a 3rd party company but that does void warranty, but I personally fancy keeping my 6-year warranty.

In Germany this Box costs over 2500€!!!
Recently bought a similar device for my A4, 139 euros for adding 32ps and 36Nm to my EA888 1.8TFSI without any other hardware change. Now once the turbo kicks in at ~1500rpm the car simply push itself much faster than before.
In Germany its more expensive and VW warranty is gone, you just get some ABT 3rd party warranty. USA has some advantages there... 😎😉
You do the best drag races, seriously. Every other channel starts with a preview of the race and then talks crap for 10 minutes before giving us the 30 seconds of racing. You get straight to the point. You deserve all the views you get.

It’s a wonder seat didn’t just give it more power from factory, mean their Leon cupra has like more power than the golf R, so why not this thing given its petrol and not diesel
The video says £1500 pounds not $500 dollars, there's a big difference between the two.

Favourite one is a similar one by Chris Harris with an Audi S4 & RS4 with a before and after plug-in tune. Keep up the great work as always.

Leon cupra r is a fwd and Golf R is a awd, so no sense making a drag. Better Leon cupra r ST vs Golf R.

Audi should also offer the ABT upgrade on their configurator in my opinion, for like the RS4 or RS5 for example
Abt is a completely independent family business and has no connection to Audi except that they lead the race as a team in Formula E and DTM. Therefore, Abt will never give accessories in the configurator. Abt only distributes that himself
Didn’t Audi have a collaboration with Abt for the 705PS RS6 Nogaro Edition though ? So i guess they could do that again.
@@Kaisuke971 Yes you are right. The Abt power upgrade was only available in this strictly limited special edition. That's why I do not think they offer it on several models. The power upgrades are also a core business of Abt. That's why they certainly could that, but do not want that, I think. They would lose many customers if that already is available at the Audi configurator.

Really impressed about the Ateca's performance, especially as it allows the driver to go on roads that can prove a bit hostile to a Golf R
Hostile roads with that low profile tires? If by hostile roads you mean smooth unpaved roads, the Golf can do that aswell.
@@leaferrafael in my country some roads feature some fancy 17cm high speed bumps, with a Gulf R one scratches the bottom of it every time while the Ateca is likely to survive that, plus tires can be swapped for something more off roady but nothing can be really done to raise a Gulf R that much

In South Africa they launched a couple Seats (we'd never had them before) and priced them ABOVE the equivalent VW model, because they were 'exclusive'.
How did that go? Well, Seats are no longer sold in SA 🤣
Not only is the Cupra faster, but is 100% less likely to be stolen. A great sleeper SUV.

My younger brother owns the 310 bhp mk 7.5 and it's really fast off the line with very little drama and impressed me every time ive experienced it's launch.so the ateca being virtually identical off the line is impressive.. But £500 for such a small difference isn't worth it. If the golf had the same tune i think we all know what the result would be! However the ateca is v impressive for it's size. Another awesome video thank's, I enjoyed that and had no idea it'd be so close😱.awesome content as allways.j

GTI will always fail against the golfs 4 motion, no point even trying theyre on different levels
@@robtoogood2860 Many quarter mile drag races on youtube which will sbow you the Leon Cupra beating the Golf R due to weight difference. The R does have a better launch but the Leon Cupra destroys it from 30 onwards.
@@conor9530 The GTI has a different engine/turbo to the R. The cupra has the same one, we're talking about GTI stage 1 VS R. A standard Cupra would still struggle vs standard R due to traction. Once rolling I'm sure the Cupra would have an advantage due to weight. The R/S3 is a better car for the UK climate imho

Audi s3 would win to finish its does 13.2 second quarter mile. On rolling BMW m140i or seat leon cupra will edge. Golf r would be last though.
Jokersweet, how you figure that out? Audi S3, golf R both have the same chassis, engine and gearbox with the same power and torque. So not sure how you place S3 first and R last. Cupra and bmw would would do better rolling as less drivetrain power loss and lighter.

After the Ateca lost the brake contest, you should have upgraded the brakes.
I know, a decent improvement in power should've been accompanied by at least slightly better brakes, unless they were more than enough to begin with.

I recently changed my 2016 Golf R for a Cupra Ateca. I added the same Tuning Box I had in my Golf R (TDI Tuning Box with extra 70 bhp). Felt a lot quicker than the golf until I met a Golf R coming off a roundabout from a stop light on a 70 mile road on my way to Liverpool: my Cupra won the 0-60mph hands down. Do I regret ever changing the Golf for the Ateca, No. I have had it for 2 months and not seen a single one on the road. Amazing 😉
