- One of my guilty pleasures is sitting down on a quiet evening mid-week and watching some of the dastardly driving deeds exposed on the Dash Cam Owners Australia channel on CZcams.
Beyond entertainment, however, the purpose of dash cams is to capture a moment in time as proof of evidence in the event of an accident.
Most of the devices on the market today allow you to pinpoint the exact time, date and location of a collision or event, not to mention showcase what was happening in and around your own car when the accident occurred. For less than the cost of a GoPro, you can mount a dash cam to your windshield and use the technology to capture footage that could help you with an insurance claim if you’re involved in a crash.

Thanks for this comprehensive review!
Very well narrated and extremely helpful video thank You
very meaningful review, thanks mate!
Very helpful and informative video.
What do you think of the Navman MiVue 755 2.7" Full HD Dashcam with GPS Tagging? It’s going for $103 at Jb hi fi
I have a nano cam plus in the car and it seems to be ok. But if I'm just going on short trips like to the shops I usually shove the GoPro in as well.
the navman had the best image quality according to my eyes
I have been using the previous model navman gps dash cam for last 4 years in my job as a driver, have some interesting footage, when people accuse you of doing something wrong, video does not lie, good investment, navman.
Had a Navman camera/GPS thing in a work truck that worked well and from what I can tell here, it's either the Mieview or the Bimmer. I'll um take the Navman.
how can you guys completely miss the best bang for your buck price range, the around $100 range? In this range you get cameras that have 2k resolution, record decently well at night, connect to your smartphone to show you clips, hell the one I have even has a rear facing camera too, though that only records in infrared which isn't a huge deal since it still records decently. I was shocked you guys just went right from $13 to $250 like that. there are plenty of acceptable cameras at the $100 range. I have personally used products from the VIOFO A119S which records well any most any time of the day, and the AKASO Trace 1 Pro that is my current camera which is pretty solid, but doesn't record as well as the VIOFO did at night. the only reason I switched was because when I first got the VIOFO I dropped it when installing and broke the screen.
How does the BMW system work in the rain? I know with my KIA reversing camera, once it gets dirty or water on the lens, it's pretty useless.
My Kodiaq camera washes with the wipers, great feature
@@user-gs3kt7vs3y No it doesnt wash all four cameras in any Skoda.
It get's dirty and the BMW system works poorly. It either saves footage when the car decides there is a crash or you can only save about 40 seconds manually and if you don't manage to do that within 20 seconds, you may be too late. It's idiotic.
I have had two Blackvue 650GW-2CH systems ,first one just died and I do find that with no pictures your not sure whats going on plus problems with getting it on the cloud .Navman is going to be next.
I'm appreciative of this review, as I want to purchase a dash cam for peace of mind.
Currently looking at the Navman MiVue 830. Wondering if anyone has any personal experience with this? Price seems right, and I'm wanting something with a rear camera included. Don't need all the bells and whistles, just want something that does it job well! Would appreciate any help! :)
You're an Australian car-focused organisation and you didn't even bother to mention capacitor vs battery. Seriously?
Very informative thanks
Should of got a Viofo unit. Have been using for years and easily the best value for money. Had the A119s and then upgraded to the A129 Duo for front and rear cameras. Never had an issues and with the parking mode hard wire kit, can’t go wrong!
Did you do hard wire yourself or an auto electrician/other?
Here to reiterate the ~$100 options from Viofo. Nice try though
$13 dash cam to cheap 🤣🤣
Dashmate and Waylens both destroy these brand reviewed here. Waylens even do an OBD dashcam that records performance data like 0-100kph times and a lap timer. Dashmate do a 4k dual camera with OLED touchscreen and it's half the price of the Blackvue.
Thanks, mate! That's good to know. I'll be checking them out now, for sure!
i checked dashmate and all they do is put their logo on stuff designed in china.
Screen isn't a plus, I don't want one.
@@Brian-jv8iy they're all designed in China 🤦
What I can’t understand is how the BMW drive recorder using the 4 onboard cameras ,is only available to models from 2019 onwards
When the earlier models have the onboard cameras as well, Also I can’t understand how the owners have to pay for something that should have been included in the first place..Money grabbing B….
You guys missed the most recommended budget dashcam option out there (under $150) that would do enough for most people.
Which is?
Here's an idea. Since the cheap 'wish' chinese brand is poor with viewing angle, buy 3 / affix one in the centre and 2 on the outer edges ( maybe not the right drivers side though). = 3x $13 = total of $39 for crappy dashcam . lol

Your life achievement?

BMW is the best cars and car company. Always innovative and value for money. I wouldn't drive anything else. Good to know for my next purchase.
