Great video as always. One doubt I had was whether the MacBook Pro was worth it over the MacBook Air. The only things I see different is the TouchBar, a Fan, slightly longer battery life and a slightly improved display.

i was going to wait for m1x/m2 but then they didnt come at wwdc and i needed a laptop for starting college in september. Then I saw the sale on dell and have a maxed out XPS13 with the 4K screen. only cost about £1400 too with 3 years of extended warranty which was a steal to me, as i wouldnt have even been able to get 512GB of stoarge and 16GB of ram on the macbook for me. I really like the XPS, its a great laptop but im a bit bored of windows and often hear the fan on it, plus battery life is pretty crap with me getting about 4-5 hours with half brightness. at least i can dock it though for dual 4k screens (one of the reasons i didnt get the m1). I have managed to slightly bend the left corner of it though from having it in my bag all day, leading to an annoying tap in the bottom left corner when typing, but I have since bent it back and its fine. I still think I am going to sell it and get an M1X/M2 14" macbook pro when they come out if they arent a stupid price with 16GB of ram and 512GB SSD minimum

And let's not forget all the class action lawsuits - Crackedscreen, green screen, connectivity, thermal throttling, keyboard (ya'll getyour $395 settlement check yet?)

@@msp5138 I have top of the line ThinkPad T14 ryzen and in past used Asus G14... Actually been using Windows for almost 15 years now. I can assure you, if I need touch device i will use a Tab/ipad with stylus. I don't need my Laptop to do that because it's not supposed to do that. Windows / Mac OS both are not friendly with touch. It's just not designed to do that.
5G? I don't need that on laptop, I use portable wifi dongle or make my phone hotspot if I am in that situation.
Crackedscreen/GreenScreen I've never ever seen anyone in my personal group, everyone is using Macbooks ruff use full day, no complaints whatsoever.
Thermal issue? That's a joke. The apple silicons are extra ordinary in thermal performance. It's like a mobile phone. No fan, no heating, no need to shut down, always ready. Instantly on the moment to open lid.
All in all, Macbooks are 10 steps ahead of Windows laptop now. That's a fact. You like windows more that's your choice. But don't blame Macbooks for that.

I'd rather wait for M1X. All the issues with M1 MBP are just software based and others are probably gonna be fixed on 14 inch M1X. About Linux, I would just for windows or Linux to finally optimize their OS under Apple Silicon

I'm in engineering, and I bought a regular laptop with high specs. But I just didn't care about graphic cards that much at that time. And I regret it now. I wish if I bought gaming laptop for school. Same price tag as a regular laptop but much stronger and can handle solidworks much better, specially when you do assembly video in solidworks works. Regular laptops and computers (even with high specs) can't handle it. But a gaming laptop was able to handle perfectly. Hope that was helpful

I love the build quality of the MacBook. I bought one about six months ago for all the performance upgrades, but I soon started hating it because of macOS. I know other people love macOS but it’s not for me. I find windows much better for multitasking having everything exactly as you like it. I love using iPhones, AirPods, and the iPad, but the thing I like about Apple on the phones and iPad seem to be the reason why I hate macOS. I felt like it’s more form over function. The simple action of deleting files was annoying as you can’t just select the files hit delete button to delete. You have to either drag to trash or right click and select move to trash. It’s just one example of why I couldn’t get used to macOS.
I tried so hard to like the MacBook Pro because of everything else about the machine. So, just a fair warning to everyone who has never used macOS before; just see if you can burrow someone’s laptop for few days to try out macOS before actually buying any macOS products, especially if you’re used to Windows.
you can delete a file with command + delete; i also recommend installing rectangle bc multitasking on macos is pretty bad by default, but rectangle makes it pretty good imo!
@@abhikahuja3773 good tip. I realized macOS relies on a lot of shortcuts to be efficient. I’ll try rectangle. I’ll give macOS a try until my I go back to school. The reason I stress this is because I’m a CS major student and being good at both os is a good skill to have.

@@abu.goldjunge There is no cmd+shift+x on mac files. it is either cmd+c cmd+v or cmd+opt+v the opt and cmd buttons are right next to each other so I usually press in between like hitting a button. You can also customize the commands if you want.
MacBook’s p3 color space coverage is SO much better. People watch a lot HDR content and p3 coverage is the most important part. I would choose Mac. All apple devices now are p3 (system UI, wallpaper and more) while windows is still in srgb.

I have both the M1 MacBook Pro and dell xps 13 developer edition ( Ubuntu, 16GB Ram , i5 ) has an equivalent battery life …but I would still go MacBook M1 Hands down because of reliable it is in every department.

The only problem with M1X/M2 is that they will probably start at 1599/1699 for the lowest configuration, so better picking up an M1 imo.

I’m thinking of getting an M1 MacBook Air but I don’t know if I should get 8gb or 16gb of ram. Note: I’m going to be using it for school work, casual gaming, and some editing. I also want to keep the laptop at long as I can (hopefully 4 years or so). I am also stuck on the storage because 256gb sounds little but the 512gb is a big jump in the price. Basically I have no idea what options I’m picking for this MBA all I know is I’m going with the 7-core instead of 8 since many people have said that it doesn’t really have a difference. If anyone can help me out please do.

The XPS is cool and all, I really like the design - but the battery life advantage of the M1 is undeniable as a student, not having to constantly be worrying where to plug it in, what the screen brightness is at and whether your task is too intensive for the remaining battery life. Plus the fact it’s faster and runs cooler under load than an idling Intel laptop seals the deal.
We I can deny it and so can standardized battery test
My XPS Plus gets 13-14 hours of continous CZcams viewing
50% brightness, battery save on, background apps off
But the truth is most of the school students are not gonna worry abt mic and webcam as we gonna never unmute in classes 🤣

DELL has a 1920x1200 resolution not 1080.
Without watching this... both are overkill for school... too expensive to be stolen or spilt drinks on in the dorm... waaaaay to expensive. Neither. Later in life sure but these are absolutely unfixable machines and also non-upgradable... if you are a student buy something sensible that you can plug an extra stick of ram into when the professor throws MATLAB at you and you realize that 8GB was a stupid idea.

I sold my XPS 13 and 15 to buy an MBP 14. The only advantage of the XPS is the 4K touch screen. Mac takes everything else. Nice video, mate!
