This show was ahead of its time. I wish it were back on the air!
Bring it back
She really shed light on the topics no one else was talking about!
I appreciate their honesty because it tells us a lot about society in general. These women wouldn't have taken these drastic measures if society didn't make them feel like they weren't good enough. It'd be so easy to sit here and judge these women but their reasons to me seem very valid. Everyone wants to feel like they belong..we all want to be loved and appreciated...all things that make us human. And when the color of someone's skin is their biggest barrier to all that, it's easier to change to fit in than to change the way society sees them.
In that case africa is saying What? Oh dear ! The darker the better in my eays.
They’re bleaching but still dark so what’s the point ??
That’s my thought. Nothing wrong with brown skin
This was in the old days. It wasn’t strong enough that bad.
lol.
The purple lady's story broke my heart.
Why wasn’t this child abuse!?!?!?
Was Thinking the same thing
Yes. But they don't t care.
@@jasmineavery4870 same reason why heterosexual adults / parents force their gay children to be straight or they get disowned or condemned.
When the lady in purple started talking about how hard it was being a kid and what she goes through as an adult that I felt her pain 😢
Them wigs were a hot mess lol
😅
Sad thing I just got back from Nigeria and literally in the beauty section are these lightening soaps and lotions. 😢😢😢😢
How can you not like dark skin?? For me the darker the better 😌 thank you very much !!!
Says the black woman with permed straightened hair and a lighter complexion
@@USA-CANADA1480Good for you sister.
I guess it's a matter of preference. Darker the better comment is emphasizing color as well. God made us in different shades, which are all beautiful.
Audience looking at then crazy but can’t deny their trauma . This is the truth of how it is for most Black women smh
very true
Tyra was the Ricki Lake of the 2000s.
Tyra was the Wendy Williams of the 2000s
@@kylehennessey4591nah Tyra didn’t gossip like Wendy she did social commentary similar to Ricki Lake
I've been looking for this episode everywhere! Do you have more videos of the Tyra Banks Show?
Broken black women 🙏🏾
It's tragic.
It’s not just happening in black community. It’s happening in a lot of countries in Asia as well. A lot of arab celebrities I watched growing up have bleached as well, and extreme plastic surgery.
@@NC1195_True I'm half Lebanese and half European I'm saddened to say I may be treated better than other Middle Eastern women because my skin is naturally fair. I was in tears over these women and I totally understand how they feel. It's not about being black it's about being human.
I would say most likely broken women
I have a cousin. She's black and she changed her name so she would be treated fairly in the job market
Well that’s understandable
Unfortunately that’s how our society is
I dont blame her. Probably had a ghetto ass name.
She would be better keeping her name as it is. As much as we don’t like to admit it, we black people do have a strong advantage within the job market in this day and age
Those poor babies don’t even know what it is:( lord have mercy that hurt my heart
What a horrible mom, so colorist she can’t even see that she can do some serious harm
The tyra show was woke before the mainstream
Lmao you must be very young, there wasn’t anything that Tyra covered that Oprah or another talk show host hadn’t covered
Some of them it's deep very deep pain inside. Generational curses they're passing down to their children. And some of them it's about men. They want attention from bm. And it's sad.
Imagine Tyra with these topics today
Phil Donahue show tackled this topic in the 80s
The world just has to change
and her dark son is soooo beautiful and cute
I wonder what they would say if she asked the boys do they like darker skinned kids
Bre is so gorgeous! One of my faves on top model
I just like the judgement when they interview them.. just try to understand
And be neutral
So I just wonder what happened to these women and if they are still bleaching.
Some. Folks. Like too have light. Skin and some chocolate. Likes their chocolate. Skin. Who cares. But. Get theses bleachers. In a place. Where. They could get. Very light. And. Be happy they are light skin. Black once they. Get there
No matter what happens people will always talk about somebody i been through things i love myself for who i am im not changing myself for nobody be blessed be proud for what you have i love dark skin girls and brown skin i been under low self esteem but i got over it and accept myself for who i am a learned a lot so get through it you gonna make you got to believe in yourself
Her model walk at 10:51 iconic
I loved this show.
Cannot blame them...they r just telling the truth...
Their truth . But not gods❤
@@katvogue2871Most are still asleep. Dont know that god is black and so were his chosen people. The Israelites. The whole bible is our history book. This is why they've psychologically fucked us up. To keep us from finding out.
God made everyone have dark skin in beginning. That's why colorism is everywhere.
There's a whole lot of dark skinned women that look better than light skinned women do. Society led by white supremacy has made these people feel they are ugly with dark skin, that's just not true.
Nah this broke my heart. Whew.
Me 2 I feel sad 4 her
Thank you for your honesty
This is sad and sick
I love me some double chocolate. I think that people like the 1990s Wesley Snipes is sexy. For me, it is the way they’ve treated me. I was picked on a lot for not being a brown enough Black person.
these people are insane i feel sorry for the kids they have
Love your self!
This gotta be fake.
Why is Nicki Minaj in the thumbnail???
Tell. Them they have pills
She said she was teased. A lot. She said she was picked on a lot. When. She went too a school that was everyone. That. Had more deeper tones. It. Seems. Like her childhood would of been. Wonderful especially. When most. Folks were. Darker the a paper shack. Brown. Very few. Lights at her school. Well now. They. Have the pills. But it's. Good too see. The victim. Keep her. Pure. Melinion. And. Didn't. Change. It.

So why does society frown upon someone changing the shade of their skin color but changing their gender is totally acceptable?
1:10 Mercury is in Pakistani creams. 100 times above authorized limit for Goree and Kanza.
boycott it right now !
But Nigerian Indian Filipino Thai products are 1000% safe
👍
Skin white pills. Everywhere. U. Could. Swallow. N. Get. Paper white nowadays
More white people tan than black people trying to lighten their skin , but thats no problem
Tanning is natural . Not only white ppl tan. Nice try though . Every race tans and every race tries to lighten their skin .
@@melaninmonroeeee: I'm a black man and light skinned women do not look better than dark skinned women do. These women have self-esteem problems and are brainwashed to believe they are ugly.
@@melaninmonroeeeespray tans can lead to cancer and there’s melenin injections too but I still think it’s bad for both ways
yeah, skin lightening is more an asian thing. 40-60% of Asian women do it
This is so sad.
I think that your racial identity may not play a role for your self esteem. You should build your self worth only by your own accomplishments.
Omg, Tyra trying to be a support for anybody is super laughable. No wonder this show tanked after only a few seasons. Getting life advice by someone who has been spoon fed success and privilege their whole lives lol 😅
