This is accurate. I’m black and Filipino and even in the US, my Lola would do things to keep our skin light. Like the products and even straightening our hair when my mother (who’s black) said not too.

Well to tell you truth lighter skin just looks better that’s just how we were programmed. Lighter skin means less sun exposure which in terms means less hard labor. I grew up around so many family members that would inject substances just to get whiter skin and they out there broke but still has time for themselves because they deserve it. They work their ass off for pennies and if it makes them feel better I say go for it, I know it looks like they pushing their main problems away but in all honesty aren’t we all.
