The problem is our society which says that being a woman/being feminine means you cannot also be powerful, authoritative, or strong. I'm gay and I've believed for years that a lot of homophobic behavior stems from sexism! I lived in Spain for a while and their behavior towards the lgbt community is WAY more lax, like pretty much everybody I met was very accepting--men/women and old/young alike. I also found that the men there were a lot less aggressive/dominating and they were much more inclined to let women hold positions of power and make important decisions. Just some thoughts.

If you're same-sex attracted but want a traditional marriage, don't let anybody talk you out of it. I think its absolute hypocrisy how people can be so accepting of straight men who are "gay for pay" but are disappointed in a gay men who wants a traditional family. Let this be a lesson to the LGBT community: just because somebody is same-sax attracted doesn't mean they want to pursue that lifestyle. Franco Zefferelli is a famous example.

Just like we saw with the married couple, he still needs to have sex with men otherwise he doesn't feel fulfilled, but she wants monogamy and a deeper connection that he as a gay man can't give her. So he got the "traditional" family, but at what cost? Now neither of them are happy. Now, if that person is bisexual, then that's totally different. Generally speaking, a bisexual person will not have to make the sacrifices that a gay or lesbian person would in pursuit of that "traditional" family.

I think your partner must be informed, agreeing and relationship should probably be open. Polyamory might be a good solution. But just being monogamous with someone who doesn't attract you is... well, okay, but a bit worrisome. Your partner will feel like they're unworthy for not being able to satisfy you whenever you express discomfort and you'll feel bad for making them feel that way because you're being yourself. It's difficult.

I was born gay and I am so glad I was!! I'd never want to be straight. I knew I was gay as a kid. If a fairy godmother came down and could wave a magic wond and make me straight I would run for the hills. If I wasn't gay I wouldn't have the humour I have or the friends I have. I don't think think you can change who you are; gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, etc. no matter what you believe about yourself; if you are a gay man for example, you can want a different lifestyle and you can marry a woman, but I don't think you can really ever love her in the way she loves you and you will have "cravings" for what you really love; men.

I think its absolute hypocrisy how people can be so accepting of straight men who are "gay for pay" but are disappointed in a gay men who wants a traditional family. Let this be a lesson to the LGBT community: just because somebody is same-sax attracted doesn't mean they want to pursue that lifestyle. Franco Zefferelli is a famous example.

Just like we saw with the married couple, he still needs to have sex with men otherwise he doesn't feel fulfilled, but she wants monogamy and a deeper connection that he as a gay man can't give her. So he got the "traditional" family, but at what cost? Now neither of them are happy.
Now, if that person is bisexual, then that's totally different. Generally speaking, a bisexual person will not have to make the sacrifices that a gay or lesbian person would in pursuit of that "traditional" family.

I think your partner must be informed, agreeing and relationship should probably be open. Polyamory might be a good solution. But just being monogamous with someone who doesn't attract you is... well, okay, but a bit worrisome. Your partner will feel like they're unworthy for not being able to satisfy you whenever you express discomfort and you'll feel bad for making them feel that way because you're being yourself. It's difficult.

When I was 14 I had something like a deadline. When I approached 21, I nearly had a nervous breakdown. Then a very sympathetic professor sat me down and in so many words told me to give up the quest of trying to be straight if it's not me. It's been a long road. People should just be able to be true to themselves and be able to accept who they truly are without fear or hatred, without feeling like they're somehow lesser humans because of who they are, without having to constantly hide a part of themselves from public. People should just stop judging and hating others and try to get along. Happiness is important. If you can't be happy what is the point? This is the main problem with society these days. Some people keep thinking that being gay is a choice but I never chose to be straight. It is just my innate attraction. I couldn't force myself to be gay if I tried. People's brains are different. We don't all work the exact same way. Just because the majority of people are straight doesn't mean that the minority is wrong. As another example, most people are right handed but that doesn't mean left handedness is wrong. These days people don't usually get picked on or harassed because of what hand they prefer to use. Why shouldn't it be the same for other things that some people still discriminate against? As long as you don't go around harming others.
