  • Discover the incredible benefits of elliptical machines in this insightful video! Ellipticals offer a unique blend of cardiovascular workout and joint-friendly exercise, making them a top choice for anyone looking to improve their fitness. Unlike high-impact activities like running or jumping, elliptical machines provide a low-impact yet effective workout that minimizes stress on the joints. This design feature is particularly beneficial for individuals with joint issues or those carrying extra weight. Additionally, elliptical workouts engage the entire body and can be easily adjusted for resistance, allowing users to gradually build strength and endurance without risking injury.
But the advantages don't stop there. Elliptical machines are also more weight-bearing than other forms of exercise like swimming or cycling, making them an excellent choice for strengthening bones and combating age-related muscle and mobility issues. Whether you're looking to lose weight, maintain fitness in later years, or rehabilitate from injury, ellipticals offer a safe and effective solution. Pregnant women can also benefit from the low-impact nature of elliptical workouts, helping them stay active and healthy throughout pregnancy while minimizing the risk of falls or strain.
In this video, we delve into the various groups of people who can benefit from using elliptical machines, including those looking to lose weight, older adults seeking to maintain mobility, individuals rehabbing from injuries, and pregnant women. We discuss how elliptical workouts can help achieve fitness goals while protecting joint health and supporting overall well-being. Watching this video, I learned that elliptical machines are especially good for old people, pregnant people and people recovering from injury. So if you're not very old and healthy running would be better.
I was interested in home use elliptical machines which have smaller range of elliptical movement so you would move on in like on a stepper. How would the exercise effect be different from the regular elliptical machines with wider range of elliptical movement? Would the effect of these home use elliptical machines with smaller range of elliptical movement be too restricted compared to the regular elliptical machines with wider range of elliptical movement?

The larger range of motion is better for your joint mobility and glutes (because you stretch them more under tension). The shorter range of motion can be better for joint strength, quads, and cardio.
You can change your position a bit (for example, alternate between standing upright and leaning your torso forward) to get better glute activation.
Anyway, my honest take is that gym equipment in general is better than home equipment (more durable, more features), but high-quality home cardio machines do exist and if you don't go to a gym, they're definitely a second-best option.

screw working out to lose weight. Fasting is the way. Fast 2 days: -5000 calories. Thats' 5x 1000 calorie workouts. And that would be 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs in the gym for 5 days. I'd rather sufer the 2 days of not eating (not that bad once your through that first day). Conditioning is another matter though.

That's a valid perspective. However, some people (like me) can't do fasting unfortunately 😀
