Brian said it was hard for all of them to complete, because Freddie's voice was coming out of the speakers like he was in the next room. Had to be so sad for all of them.

The album cover is one of the most striking I've ever seen. It's a picture of outside their studio in Montreux, where there's a statue of Freddie Mercury looking out over the Lake. But from this position, it looks like Freddie is leaving the band in triumph, as if to say "I've won, I've fulfilled my purpose, see you guys on the other side." There's a true sense of finality, that this is the end.
I like your thinking. Heading off towards the horizon, leaving the other 3 on the shoreline with no choice but to watch him leave, knowing that they too will one day take that same walk and find him again out there.

Have you been? I hope so. It is so beautiful, it hurts. It yanks at all the pain in your soul and forces it out so you can receive all that beauty. Never been able to walk by Freddie’s statue without crying and I’ve made that walk quite a few times from his statue to Château de Chillon (a castle on the water).

It’s also from one of the parts of the queen forever interview with Brian May explaining the forever album I think I’m not really sure I’m going off memory 😂

Because Freddie Was Supposed To Finish The Final Verse, But Never Made It Back to The Studio. That Is Where Brian Took The Verse, Which Is Very Sad. Like He Is Carrying On The Show That Freddie Left Behind...
Emily Carroll, he had to cos Freddie didn’t make it back to the studio to finish it off unfortunately, Freddie is definitely missed 27 yrs on, wish we still had him singing all them classics & new tunes that he had, all lost with with Freddie, but his legacy still lives on with the music he left us 47 yrs ago to the present day.
Freddie's voice is so good in this song, it is hard to believe that he was so close to death. His beautiful baritone voice is so beautiful and haunting.
Fact: According to Peter Freestone Brian was at the time suicidal cuz of Freddies death that he wasent crying, he was skaking and weept a hole lot and John too
My mom died in September of this year, it was so hard. For me, this song has become something special and personal that cuts my soul. Many people may love us, but nothing can replace a mother's love
You could tell he didn’t feel well. He just didn’t sound the same as he did back 10 years earlier. He sounds strained and in pain. But, he fucking killed it. Absolutely lacerated the vocals.
roger noted that freddie's voice was getting "thinner" at the time, and when you compare to how he sounded in the miracle, you really could tell that he sounded somewhat weaker. but even at that late stage of his life, he managed to gave us some of his best renditions ever... really, one of a kind.
@@paresindahouse I think that you'll only really notice his illness in direct comparison. If you wouldn't already know that he was completely sick, you couldn't tell.
It's every Queen song sped up, either in reverse from Innuendo (and maybe Made in Heaven) back or vice versa, from Queen 1 forward. You can also here the beginning of One Vision, the riff from Tie Your Mother Down, and one of Freddie's first recordings, Goin' Back.
2:31 - "I long for peace before I die" is, perhaps, the most chiling line in a Queen song I ever heard, knowing how little time they had left with Freddie on the planet. It would be one of the last lines ever sang by Freddie, for he never came back to the studio to complete the song...and Brian? I can't even begin to imagine how hard it was on him to finish the track, but Freddie's dying wish was to have whatever material they were working on finished even after his death... ...and the band fulfilled that wish.
He long for peace before he died from British tabloids, trash writers and wankers kept chasing Freddie. Just like those kinds have done since the Middle Ages holding a bible in their hand and fork or torch in the other hand. Hypocrite bastards who think they are god.
Immensely powerful song, this legendary man was close to death when he belted out this fantastically touching vocal, so much so that, I believe, Brian May sang the final verse. His band mates were reeling from the reality of his approaching passing and holding it together, performing perfectly. I read somewhere that, towards the end, this song contains a fraction of a second of every Queen record released. Queen = all legends.
I don’t think a lot of people know this but Freddie’s foot was severely damaged because of how ill he was and when he showed it to the band at dinner they were shocked.
The voice of a man who's on the brink of death. Unbelievable. Sounds 100 times better than crock of Shit we have these days. This man truly was a music icon and legend to the core
It probably is. As Freddy died during the production of this track, they completed it by recycling pretty much any and all recordings of his voice they had
The ending is so sad. It's essentially a very rapid rewind of Freddie's life. From his moments at the top, to his first ever song, to childhood. A rich and interesting life that is now over.
@@ttsing Well it's not quite the first, but it's among his earliest stuff. It's called "Goin' Back" released under the name Larry Lurex. It's a fantastic song, you should give it a listen.
this is the saddest queen song. i know some people may say "too much love will kill you", or "who wants to live forever", but i think this song is the saddest
The short complication of Freddie's vocals at the end, especially those from the Wembley concert, just kills me. You can also hear few seconds of every Queen song ever recorded sped through a tape machine, at the very end. Beautiful, but devastating. I can't imagine how difficult it would have been for the others to complete this song without Freddie.
I don't think people know this but the last sample of freddie singing at the very end is from the song, Going back but it is under his first stage name, Larry Lurex. so you are basically listening to his first and last song of his career/ life 💔 😭
Сумашедше трогательная песня! Большое спасибо музыкантам за то, что до последнего были с ним.. Они верили в него и прощали ему его гениальность… огромное уважение им!!!!!

The switch to Brian’s voice absolutely kills me. You can hear the sadness and pain in his voice. He lost his best friend, someone who was like a brother to him.
What makes this especially sad is the fact that Freddie knew that his death was now ineviatable. The miracle album in 89 was full of hope and a sense that a cure might be found in time. This song is really about acceptence and preparing himself for the spritual world. What a brave brave man Freddie was. It must have very hard for all those associated with these final recordings to keep it together through such tragic circumstances.
Beautifully said. I think there was also an underlying sense of guilt that he's leaving the band without a leader. Probably that's why he was so active in those last months, so that they could still get some money after he died.
@@emilybailey4457 I just read a beautiful comment from a lady who met him back in the 70s -- she and her friend as teens had been taken to a concert by her friend's mom. They ended up face to face with Freddie and the band and the mother said, "All my daughter talks about is Freddie, Freddie, Freddie!" and Freddie just looked up shyly and said, "Really?" like he couldn't believe it. Later he gave the mother a small prize he had gotten out of one of those machines to give to her daughter. That's the kind of man he was... kind and generous and surprisingly modest.
1:50 He sang and recorded this...... and the next day he was gone. This is just beyond my imagination. How can anyone sing so crystal clear and strong just before dying..... incredible
Truly amazing how he was slowly dying and could still pull off those high notes as well as he could. Wouldn't have even known he was slowly slipping away from us.
I don't think any other song can ever touch my heart the way this does. The lines are chilling... "I'm coming home" "peace before I die" but that ending.... first time I heard that was so emotionally startling, when Brian finishes and suddenly the clip of Freddie.... ay-o... sounding like he was ascending, then being welcomed into the afterlife with rapturous applause, he's come home.. all the queen songs meshed together, queen legacy/lives flashing before our eyes... then Freddie... reborn... as he will never truly die for all of us. Cycle of life.... this was absolute genius ending and such a lovely way to honor him.
This song Mother Love was recorded at their studio in Montreaux....They started recording with Freddie in the summer of 1991, then Freddie left Montreaux to go back to Garden Lodge on November 10th 1991. I remember reading about it, and it is the same day as my birthday.
Maybe they didn't like the song. Maybe they didn't listen til the end, hearing Brian singing the last verse. Maybe they just didn't know this was Freddie's last performance
The last Freddie ever sang. God, he sounds so strong and as perfect as always. I can't even get through the first verse without weeping. Freddie began recording his sections in May 1991. It took Brian 2 years to go back and finish it. It must have been so sad for them.😥
This song is Freddie's last song. Recorded equal to 30 years ago, on May 16, 1991. It was the last time Freddie Mercury sang in the studio and possibly in his life RIP FREDDIE MERCURY (*)
This song did make me cry. There will never be anyone like Freddie Mercury. Hes the best of the best! Aids was ruthless...what a bad time in this world for alot people...Just so devastating...Love you Always Freddie.❤
This song makes me cry. Makes me cry and Freddie's face surfaces every single time. I get goosebumps when I think that this was his last vocals. No one can ever replace Freddie Mercury. Ever! AIDS destroyed Freddie but it could never wipe out his passion and love for music. Most importantly, it could never take away his unparalleled voice. You were truly one of a kind, Freddie! :)
I ignorantly / naively mused in my head a few times ‘surely he could have made it back just to sing that last line...’ Docos like Silverlake Life (on CZcams) reveal up close the nightmare of aids, and how for him to sound this amazing 6 moths before death is a miracle.
+Paolo Lucas And the last verse was recorded by Brian, Freddie's last recorded words are 'Mother's love', he whispers them at the end of the penultimate verse. He was too ill to finish it. What an incredible band.
He was basically on his deathbed. I think it was 6 months before he died. Razorfist did a queen music mythos where he described this song perfectly. Might wanna watch it.
@@pilotamurorei The reason he only sang 2/3 of the song is because he said he was too tired and he said he would finish it later... He never lived long enough to finish the song.
I don't usually tear up at songs but something about the way a sick, dying Freddie absolutely bellows his lines from 1:49 - 1:59 gets me every single time. It feels like an act of defiance, like Freddie was gonna go out singing no matter what. Absolutely haunting and absolutely beautiful.
Just imagine a life where Freddie was still with us. Would he still be touring? Would he still be in the public eye? Would John still be here? So many questions we’ll never get the answer to. We lost Freddie far too soon. Now all we have is the memories, and to us who weren’t around while he was alive, all we have are the haunting vocals and the stories he’s left behind. It’s up to us now. We have to keep Queen alive, we have to keep Freddie alive. Sharing their music, watching videos of Freddie, learning the stories of this man’s beautiful yet tragic life. I still love you, Freddie.
I think they would have made a million more great songs, Freddie loved the audience so much, he would never stop, just like he didn’t stop till he couldn’t anymore, that’s dedication, and I bet John would have stayed, they were all good friends, it’s hard to find that in a band - these guys were and still are amazing
One of the most haunting songs ever written... It really shows Brian May’s enourmous talent in writing lyrics describing the reality.... They recorded this song in their studio in Montreux in may 1991.... Freddie was very very ill and they doubted he would manage to do it but he persuaded them to let him sing... Brian has said that Freddie told him to continue to write songs for him so he could sing for as long as he would have the strength to. Then the others could arrange it, mix it and release it or do whatever they wanted with it after his death but he wanted to sing for as long as he could... That’s when Brian grabbed a piece of paper and the nearest pen and started writing whatever words he could think about.... That’s how ”Mother Love” was written. In a very short time and under very emotional circumstances... They had recorded almost the entire song when Freddie completely exhausted said he needed to rest but that he would come back later and finish it.... Brian realizing Freddie may never come back finished it just in case but they still hoped Freddie would make ut....He never did :(
@ändrew Salter You can't physically see air. Yes you can feel it, but you can't physically see it. No one can prove whether God exists or not. So we're even.
When I listen to this song, I mostly think of John Deacon. Freddie's death hit him so hard, it was all over him, and we could see it. What was going through his mind recording this last album of Queen's legacy, last parts of music they made together? Freddie was very special to John, it must have been heartbraking for him losing his "guarding angel". I miss them both.
Freddie wanted to keep recording music until he couldn't sing no more, so now he is in Heaven having his own little concerts for those that STILL LOVE HIM!! We STILL LOVE YOU FREDDIE MERCURY~~~ down here on Earth!!

I know how tragic the story of this song was but with that aside, it’s still such a good song. He wouldn’t want you to focus on his death. He would want you to focus on his life
He was so close to death when he sang this song, how did he find the strength? I take to my bed for a headache and he’s enduring such pain, such weakness yet he keeps going. How did he do it? What love and dedication it took. Also, Brian May, you are an extraordinary person and friend to help Freddie with his last wishes to record such a beautiful song, to finish the song alone. For the band to complete this the way they did, including a few seconds of every song Freddie recorded, ending with a baby’s cry. Beautiful, hauntingly beautiful. ❤️
It's the most absolutely chilling thing put onto a recording. The singer...is gone. And he is NOT coming back. Brian most beautifully comes in to carry the song out to its only rightful logical conclusion with a rewind of Freddie and QUEEN's history!
Hard to believe its 31 yrs today since you left us n this world miss your voice, talent and the incredible showman you were and yes to still be able to sing this song in your powerful unique voice shows the talent n kind of man you were RIP FREDDIE MERCURY ❤️

As I said before, in my two comments about this Queen album that was released in 1995… it is the best and Freddie Mercury will always be the greatest vocalist in this band forever!!! King Freddie Mercury!

Completely i agree sounds haunting but beautiful at the same time i think.
I agree Emily. Freddie couldn't finish it and it had to break his heart. What a beautiful song
"Mama please, let me back inside" - this line always gives me chills
Freddie's voice is so good in this song, it is hard to believe that he was so close to death. His beautiful baritone voice is so beautiful and haunting.

You could tell he didn’t feel well. He just didn’t sound the same as he did back 10 years earlier. He sounds strained and in pain. But, he fucking killed it. Absolutely lacerated the vocals.
I’m not gonna lie, I think Freddie’s best studio recordings were in this era. His upper register in this time was just perfect
roger noted that freddie's voice was getting "thinner" at the time, and when you compare to how he sounded in the miracle, you really could tell that he sounded somewhat weaker.

I can't even begin to imagine how hard it was on him to finish the track, but Freddie's dying wish was to have whatever material they were working on finished even after his death...
...and the band fulfilled that wish.
freddie lived the cold war, think, freddie predicted the end, because when he died the cold war ended
As he said in a previous song "the show must go on"
J.J. Gillmen Absolutely chilling. They are truly phenomenal human beings.

Oh, so that explains the end
Brian sounds so devastated in his vocals.
Rest easy Freddie.

Yeah that bit from Wembley is quite haunting in this track

4:12 Heartbreaking eeeoooooo. But Freddie is still here. Legends never die
Freddie was very giving.

How can you hear this song and not feel emotional. Freddie was in it till the very end, RIP Freddie
John left since Fred died if he was still alive John would have probably stayed in Queen Freddie kept him stable
Brian realizing Freddie may never come back finished it just in case but they still hoped Freddie would make ut....He never did :(
There is no song that is more beautiful and devastating at the same time to me.
