- School of Saberfighting is one of the first teams in the world that specialises in public performance of duels inspired by Star Wars, and also provides training for those who wish to learn this form of stage fencing.
Many of our trainees have won the highest stage fencing athletic titles in various Russian championships, and acted in fencing combat scenes in theatre and films. They also collaborated with a Combat Choreographer from Hollywood, and performed during the World Fencing Championship 2015.

Me, after learning one lightsaber move and watching a ton of videos: a yes the classic Obi ani swing an interesting choice for a dueling scenario seeing as it is best at blocking blaster attacks from the front and behind, although I suppose it could be used as an intimidation tactic or an offensive maneuver designed to produce fast swings at a faster rate and push the enemy back, or to cause a standstill in a two on one, although this is a one on one so that’s kind of redundant

I thought the same thing, but watching more slowly it looks like he kicked the handle, not the actual blade itself.
Yes, although, if you would like some closure on the subject, just imagine they are training blades, not meant to inflict death on the opponent, although it still hurts like a bitch to be hit with one. These were generally used in sparring, as well as to train younglings.
2 scenarios: he hit the handle or the blade. If its the later, its a training blade. A sith doing that isn't exactly crazy since they get power the more angry they are.

The Blue Channel - Tutorial And Unboxing-Watch unchoriographed lightsaber duels, they more often look clumsily and silly, like two people scared to get their fingers whacked. Performances like this may be scripted but at least they hold up to what we as fans think lightsaber duels should look like.

That was Satele Shan, a descendant of Darth Revan. She used a force ability known as Negate Energy, which can also be seen by Yoda when he absorbs or deflects Dooku and Palpatine’s lightning. This is not an ability to easy harness or master for force sensitives without the proper midichlorian count and only few had this ability.

To everyone arguing about him kicking the lightsaber, number one if you play it at the lowest speed setting and pay close attention you can see that he kicks the actual blade so that is correct, if he kicked it with a regular boot his foot would have been hacked off. Number 2, if we get into the world of starwars, it is not uncommon for some force welders to use the force to hold, block or grab the blade of a lightsaber to stop an attack. It takes a lot of power but if the are powerful enough and concentrate hard enough, it is possible. The Dark side is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. Also, some sith assassins especially inquisitors have been known to wear saber resistant armor that is able to withstand weaker lightsaber attacks and to defend small amounts of lightsaber attacks to give the sith an edge. For instance the metal baskar used by the mandalorians and ancient sith

In lore it isn't completely unheard of, both Legends and current alike.
There exists a technique in both material, called Tutaminis, in which the user actively absorbs, or deflects, attacks using nothing but their hands, or any conceivable surface of their being that could be used.
In Legends, Satele Shan used this against Malgus during the Battle of Alderaan, and Luke was even known to be an advent practitioner after Ep6. In canon, we don't actively see it used to deflect lightsaber attacks, but Yoda uses it with great efficiency during his fights with Dooku and Sidious

That being said I must say that my problem with lightsaber fights are that there is too much fluff in them. Mix all those twirlings moves with the fact that most of the attacks target the blade of the opponent instead of its body and it get me out of the fight.
Well to be fair the Force Users have the Force and while it isn't covered much in the movies it's expanded on in the EU in that it basically gives them superhuman reflexes to where they get kind of a "spidey sense" when they get attacked and how they're getting attacked. It's also how they can deflect blaster shots.
As for the "fluff" there is a bit of fluff, but some of that DOES fit in the lore. Jedi were trained to be defensive and try and tire their opponents out so in that regard they will try to just block and defend and if that plan works their enemy will be tired and they can force them to surrender or kill them depending on the situation.
Sith were taught to be more offensive and aggressive to try and wear down their opponent or try and get a quick kill and this can be done by trying to knock their enemy's blade out of the way and get a killing strike.
Of course there are variations based on the fighting styles and preferences of the individuals along with the individual forms of the fighters(Mace Windu used Vaapad when he needed to and it was a very fast and aggressive form, but he was picky about who he allowed to train in that as the user had to channel a bit of the dark side) but those are the basic concepts.
Well to be fair, Ryan vs Dorkman 2 was better. Granted, they had the convenience of not doing their duel live, but the basics of their duel were better. They targeted each other with their sabers and not just each other's blades. They didn't parry with just the front 3rd of their blades and there wasn't as much Flynning as in this.
This was a dance. Their video looked like a fight.
That's why you just watch Game of Thrones- Star wars edition.
of course saber fighting in star wars is functionally stupid. the only one smart enough to put a hilt on his blade is kylo ren. there should be way more handless sith and jedi than in the movies. it looks cool though and that's really the point

Idk if you slow down the playback speed to 0.5x. It looks like the top of his foot kicked at the other guy's hands and/or the saber hilt/handle. While the saber was in a downward motion pointing away from him. But I could be wrong though since it was really fast.
If it hit the saber, then yes you're correct. But the choreography was most likely about kicking the hands away instead of the saber. XD
