  • So I've been running this Turntable for a over 5 years, and about a year ago a video gave me an idea on how to improve it. After a few days of work implementing my idea and a few months of reliability testing I finally decided to document my modification.

Today's video is late due to scheduling conflicts with the WARCI meet tomorrow. I'm thinking about skipping video releases during weeks with swapmeets and or substituting monday video releases of a walkaround at the meet.
And here's the video about modern stereo 78's • A New Stereo Audiophil...

I got one of these recently. Seemed a bit flimsy at first but once I replaced the bulbs, fixing the power switch and got the 33 speed adjusted it does quite well. Philips had some interesting TT back then, I also have the 777 fully automatic with built in tone arm scale.

I work electronics too. There are some really bright folks out there. Very well done!

That is a very elegant solution. I recently picked up a GA-212 myself and am going to refurbish it the best I can--replacing caps, lamps, etc. While I'm in there I might consider you modification. Have you documented the mod elsewhere on the interwebs (audiokarma or other forums)? I would love to know more about your process.

I haven't documented it on the net yet. I'm planning to make a video about it in the coming weeks.

Wonderful job! Love the way you added functionality without disturbing the clean design. Yes! Please do a video detailing the modification to the 212 turntable. I have one that I bought new in '74. My wife now has 78's from her grandparents that we'd love to play. I couldn't handle the electrical mods but my son (the EE) sure could!
