for those trying to argue cell max was already completed. this is not what toriyama was referencing in his comment, toriyama references cell as "he needed to be completed as planned" which is in reference to cell being let out too early before his mind and other things were constructed and or programmed, making him not "completed as planned" hope that is common sense lol

Don’t roast me but isn’t manga and anime different? In the Manga they fighting Gas but the anime they haven’t released any episodes in years unless they return and combine the 2 stories.
Genius. I am so hyped for this movie.
I think Chi Chi’s strong will to protect , is why Gohan can power leap so quickly, Vegeta already said half bred Saiyans have more potential but Chi chi is one of the strongest humans and we all know Gohans true potential shows when he is forced to protect his friends and family unlike Goku who just purely wants to push himself
The reason, is that's it dumb
Honestly might be up to something
An interesting idea of how Gohan has great potential due to both his parents.
Actually shit that makes sense
Lmao so you're just ignoring the fact that he has raged out and overpowered foes multiple times because of them hurting or threatening to hurt his loved ones? Literally went nuts on Jiren for trying to kill his friends. Slapped Zamasu around after hearing about the Chi Chi and Goten of that universe. The android 8 rage, the Piccolo and Krillin rage on namek, the rage against Beerus when he threatened to destroy the planet. Goku definitely lives to push himself, but you can't say that's the only reason he fights.
Personally I think its a way to get some of the OG's back into the fold. I like the idea that piccolo and gohan are back on the level and are able to fight heavy hitters with more ease now, as well I like the idea that Broly could be a more regular member around the series with the potential to usurp the destroyer title from vegeta as to me it'd be a logical and actual good idea.
I agree, we need more Broly and Gohan/Piccolo. I also think Gohan is a more interesting character than Goku, and Broly than Vegeta. Because we've seen basically everything we needed to see, and know everything we need to know, about Goku and Vegeta since DB+Z. Like hundreds of episodes were dedicated to them. Gohan and Broly there's a lot of ways these characters can be developed. With decent writing these characters can give interesting episodes.
THANK YOU. The first comment I've seen where someone calls out exactly what's going on. The creators are just doing whatever they want, trying to appeal to the fans. The fans have complained that some of the Z characters so the creators are trying to fix it. Nothing more. Nothing less. There's no fancy reason why Gohan got a massive power. Toriyama said this is what the fuck is about to go down and so it shall be because he writes this shit. Doesn'
t need to make sense.
I think it's 50/50 i don't think Goku would want to be an angel or Vegeta destroyer
I disagree with this. I don't think they need to be on the level of the big two. What I think is they need good stories around them and their level. But that's the problem. Dragon Ball isn't known for its good story.
@@ChaelSonnenMMA I mean Gohan was always known for his immense potential.
Even as a frightened and inexperienced 4 year old he could bang with the strongest characters just by getting angry.
Then he managed to sustain it against Cell only to slack off and lose some of his ability.
The author didn't just pull Gohans potential out of his ass. This is a staple of Gohans character.
In the moro arc after two months of training Gohan is said to be almost unrecognizable by Goku. Then after Moro rips his arm through Goku, Gohan rages out and Moro acknowledges that Gohan got a power boost but not enough to fight him. So if Gohan did some light training between Moro and Superhero then the power boost he gets is a little less extreme of a jump.
Gohan didn't do any training. It was stated in the movie that he wasn't training again. That's why Piccolo admonished him in case a world threat appeared again -- because for some Gohan didn't learn that lesson from BotG, RoF, Goku Black, ToP, and Moro in the last year -- and this is why Gohan needed a rage boost just to access his Buu arc Awakening form again. If he were training none of this would have happened. He literally went from probably at best cell level to beyond ssb gogeta level in the span of an hour.
@@Blaisem not how that works. Also base cell level is laughable. Gohan in the movie says he has been practicing the special beam canon in secret. He wasn’t doing intense enough training to keep his ultimate form but he still trained enough to learn. And in the Moro arc he gained two major boosts in power (one after two-three months of intense training) so his base being cell level is impossible
@@NeonoahGaming Piccolo met him while he was studying and said he wasn't keeping up with his training. That makes it canon. Furthermore, Gohan wasn't able to go awakening without a rage boost. This makes Gohan weaker than Buu saga, both because he had to struggle to reach that form, and most of all because his ssj form is simply weaker than ultimate. That's about Cell's level or a little stronger.
That he mentioned training special beam cannon is either long in the past or a plot hole in some form.
@@Blaisem he did train in secret
@@calinwin445 He did not, or he would have been able to go awakened form without a rage boost.
It's always funny to me how in the Dragonball universe a random scientist can just make cyborgs that are basically more powerful than almost every being in the universe casually and with infinite stamina
This scientist is not random though. This scientist is related to the creator or android/cell.
For real hahaha! Freezer should really be worring about the human race xd

I thought that was cool as fuck personally. Like technology can keep up.
I just think of it as a scientist who’s mastered gene splicing and cloning which allows him to grow super strong beings.
him being the strongest actually makes sense. Back in the latest chapter Goku asks Whis if the strongest was Frieza but instead of saying yes or no, he says "hmm perhaps the strongest warrior has emerged elsewhere" Its very possible that Goku and vegeta don't know of Gohan's strength since they are gone for long periods at a time
Whis was talking about uub and black frieza is stronger then final gohan
But it doesnt make sense for gohan to jump 4 tiers up just because he trained a bit and got enraged, as much a prodigy as he is, jumping 4 tiers (1 SSB, 2 SSB kaioken/vegeta SSB royal or whatever, 3 UI, 4 MUI/ultra ego). That was just bad writting.
S Broly also jumped hella tiers in a single movie but dude had the legendary super saiyan thing going for him, Gohan as much a prodigy as he is supposed to be, didnt born with 10,000 power level, Broly did, but now beast gohan one shots LSS Broly... this writters 😒

“We all forgot gohan was just…like that” is the best way to describe it 😂 he’s him, enough said
I've always been a huge fan of Gohan since I was a kid and I always took his latent potential as a metaphor for believing in yourself. Gohan was always timid and cowardice and felt he could never be as good as his dad or the other Z fighters. It's only when he is backed into a corner does he find the strength to prove himself a true warrior. I also believe Gohan's entire persona can be taken as a metaphor for the duality of man. The constant struggle of being a man and a beast. A human and a saiyan. I'm not saying any of this this is fact, these thoughts are merely based on my idea of Gohan. I could be wrong but isn't Gohan the only Hybrid to have been born with a tail? I wonder if that has anything to do with his latent potential. If I'm correct I think Gohan's powers are also a genetic anomaly. I dunno, food for thought...
Gohan IS the only hybrid born with a tail. Trunks, Bulla (or Bra) and Goten never had tails once they were born. So Gohan's power as a hybrid makes sense, I also believe that his mothers demon side of the family also has something to do with it.
Gohan is my favorite character I basically grew up with him, so I'm very happy with his power burst
Unfortunately the reason he was born with a tail and no one else is is because toriyama forgot Sayans had tails 😂

tbh i like these new unique forms that toriyama has been making like ultra instinct, im glad goku and vegeta didnt just get more super saiyan power ups. i think goku and vegeta should go the "ultra" route, gohan should go with the saiyan hybrid route as he does in the movie. Broly should get ssj4 and goten and trunks should continue with the god ki route
What I liked of the movie was “the sins of a father” sub plot line that no one is talking about. Everything in this movie is dealing with a fathers past and how a fathers past (or even grandfather) significantly caused the actions for this film. From Goku to Gohan.Gohan to Pan. And everything with the RR army.
God i love the music "Sin of the father" such a masterpiece
Great point and you right I never seen anyone talking about this! This even applies to piccolo who constantly gets called king piccolo in the movie
Damn it's almost like they stole that entire sub plot from the android and cell saga
@@Asmokedetector "stole" k.
Not only that, it also lines up with the sub-plot of the cell saga.
In the cell saga, goku wanted to prove the new generation of fighters surpassed the old ones, which was represented by gohan beating cell. The narrative of dragon ball is now that goku and vegeta are training away with god-like beings to achieve a higher power , a new defender of earth must take up the mantle. That role is being given to gohan. Normally, goku and vegeta would have just gotten strong enough to beat cell max but thats no longer possible.
The way i see it is gohan is the frieza for saiyans. A being born with a massive amount of sheer potential and raw talent that demands respecting. I just hope super hero is the start of gohan being that guy again.

That's the thing that people don't understand about Gohan - it is his potential that is unreal, and he may not be stronger on a base level than others, but his ability to get stronger is WAY easier and faster than anyone else, and he can reach heights higher in less time and with more precision than anyone else.
BS. Gohan only got that strong because the plot required him to get that strong. Remember future gohan? Yeah, he's not that strong is he now? He didn't get way stronger easier and just died pitifully. Also, are we just gonna ignore that goten and trunks easily went super saiyan without any real training while being younger than when gohan first achieved ssj? Doesn't that made goten and trunks have bigger potential than he has? They got stronger WAY easier and faster than any other saiyan in history. See what i mean? Don't justify bad writing lol.

While it is impressive that Goten and Trunks got super saiyan at 7, you're forgetting that Gohan got super saiyan 2 at like 9 or 11. If by different you mean making less sense than most characters then I'll agree. The Saiya-jin hybrid potential is one of the worst things Akira could've created. But, some looooove to eat it all up 😂
Gohans anger boosts have always been insane, and we haven't really gotten a proper one since his Cell fight. He got stronger from the time of Cell through his potential being unleased and further training with Piccolo before the TOP to the level of gods, so honestly its not that surprising that after getting another anger boost with that insane base power already there that he would skyrocket above the levels everyone else was at.
Kinda ruins the narrative of the cell saga though as that was supposed to be the culmination of gohans rage up until that point
This boost in power is trash. He’s NEVER gotten this strong out of nowhere for no reasons at all. Literally the most ANY dragon ball character had jumped before super was a 4-500 times as strong and that’s being generous as fuck with gokus ssj3. At the same time though like you said I liked that Beast Gohan didn’t screw around and drag out the fight any longer than necessary , just got straight to business and took it seriously
If it was Goku and/or Vegeta the fight would’ve been 5x or 10x longer for sure bc of they tend to have way too much fun dragging out a fight with a stronger opponent
That's good to know Superhero's placement in the DB timeline. So, we'll have a long way to go before Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo are in the anime. So excited for the anime to return. Gohan my favorite character outside of Vegeta. Dude is such a monster and I love his Gohan Beast form.
I’m interested if they will show Gohan unlocking Beast pre-the big fight in the manga. Throughout the movie Piccolo assumed Gohan wasn’t training enough but Gohan was adamant that he was okay the whole time, as relaxed as he was. When he turned beast he seemed to know that he could do it, wasn’t shocked about achieving that level of strength or anything so I feel like he’s done it before. Anyway, good video!
I just imagine that if Max Cell didn't broke out of his chamber, we would have seen his perfect form.
perfect cell MAX!
Thats not how it works, he needs to absorb the other 2 androids to become perfect cell
@@TheSadMusician It would’ve made perfect sense for him to absorb both gammas to turn into perfect cell it’s a shame
@@TheSadMusician that’s exactly how cell max works, you’re literally just spewing bullshit
@@TheSadMusician I don't think that's how Max works, since he emerged in form 2 without absorbing anything. Plus Cell (OG) didn't have some weak spot in his head, I wonder if an evolution would have accounted for that somehow.
I think it's because Gohan is one of the few that has real human emotion in this show... and he is just very emotional guy to begin with. Makes sense since he is half human. The others kinda feel like robots when it comes to emotion. I think he taps into that human emotional state to easily raise his big burst power. Since that's what seems to happen when the others get emotional. Thats usually when they get a new form.
And because of that, Pure Saiyans like Goku and Vegeta will never be as strong or as fast as Gohan can be. If he never stop training all his life, not for the sake of power or glory, but for the sake of protecting his family and his planet, he will always have the immense strength he needs to overcome the forces of evil. Once Gohan’s ready and is at the highest of all of his dormant potential, he won’t have to have Ultra Instinct or Ultra Ego.
I think gamma 1 and 2 are weaker then saitama chapter168
@@calvinkopp1735 future gohan train for all of his life and dude never past ssj 1 mans got whoop by android 17 and 18
That actually makes a lot of sense. The Fighters get a burst of power when they get emotional, but because saiyans aren't very emotional to begin with, it rarely happens, so they resort to training.
With Gohan who is really emotional, his potential is through the roof. So they balance him by making him not train as much.
The human adrenaline he can get with his absurd saiyan blood is insane. The average human can lift hundreds of pounds when tapping into their forbidden strength. This is the reason why I think gohan has technically more potential than gotten and trunks, because while they can tap into the same adrenaline, he’s a lot more emotional than they are. They are more carefree and even in harsh moments they can get lost in what they’re supposed to be doing. Gohan on the other hand releases it from his heart and almost never gets in front of his emotions.
I think they meant the "Strongest Battle in Earth's History" which makes sense. I would say it outclassed Beerus vs Goku only because Beerus never took the fight seriously and held back the entire time. I also agree that Piccolo was comparing the androids to SSB Goku & Vegeta as it is really hard to quantify UI or UE since the user's mental or physical state determine their power respectively.

love these vids ngl, appreciate the in depth info fr
I always took it like this:
Life has a funny way of balancing things. Saiyajins have some of the strongest potential in the series, if not the strongest period - but this power is unlocked seemingly through emotion, and the species itself is almost caveman like in temperment. Even with the scientists, in general they see physical strength and power as a representation of their worth. When it comes to emotion, they don't completely lack it and I won't go so far as to say they see it as a weakness, but bottom line is I don't think they perceive it the way Humans do or really understand it. There's a genetic thing there where they are more feral despite being civilized beyond a wild animal.
This is pretty obvious given the contrast between Vegeta, and Goku, who is himself something of an exception because...well, he literally has brain damage. He was a crazy, angry, normal Saiyajin child until he fell on his head and suddenly became a loving "son" for Grandpa Gohan and basically grew up into the aloof derp chad we know today. As a result of this, Goku, despite still struggling with basic emotion and basic every day life like Driving and such, still tries to protect his family and explodes with anger when people he loves are hurt or killed, such as Krillin's death to Frieza triggering his SSJ transformation. Vegeta on the other hand, a full blooded saiyajin with the upbringing of one and no brain damage (lol), literally states he could not comprehend how Goku did it and that he even originally started a family as an attempt to form a connection similar to Goku and his loved ones in hopes that it would help him trigger the transformation as well, and it did basically nothing for him all the way until Beerus put hands on Bulma. He even casually kills Nappa because he lost to Goku, and these dudes grew up together. Also didn't give a damn about Raditz either. Vegeta is something of an exception and is pretty cold even among his own species, but they are mostly pretty much all that way.
Humans on the other hand are very emotional, but physically weak by comparison. Not quite opposites to Saiyajins, but pretty close. Because of this, they rely on technique and spirit instead of strength and raw power - this is another thing that heavily influenced Goku and why he is so strong. He is somewhat of a representation of both worlds, as a result of his head injury as a child and the upbringing that came after that. All the raw power of a Saiyajin, with the techniques of Humans and capable of more emotion and connections, stunted as they still are, than the rest of his species.
Gohan however is the literal representation of this, being a half breed. Essentially he is the "All of their strengths, none of their weaknesses" trope - All of the power and potential of a full blooded Saiyajin, with the unhindered emotions of a Human fueling the power.
Gohan beast is honestly one of the most thought out named transformations in the series. If you watch Z, the narrator describes gohans hidden power as the “beast within” multiple times. So to go that far back in the lore, the name sticks, and it sticks well.

I'm still in disbelief about the leap that Gohan took without any sort of training or anything. Call it fanservice or bad writing, but it just feels wild, even more so than when Broly did it in his movie.
Well Broly is not only unique but also genetically unstable so it makes sense how but Gohan yeah that I get
I see it as Gohan's power "maturing" with his body. Teen Gohan was insanely strong. Gohan Beast is Gohan if he had just kept up witth his training and trained with Goku, Vegeta, Whis, and Beerus. Think of it like this. Since Cell Saga, Gohan has been hyped as "potentially" the strongest. This movie just brings out that what if and makes it reality. Gohan literally went SSJ2 cuz of his anger and potential. He literally did the SAME thing in this movie. It's not bad writing or fan service. It's just realizing statements about Gohan that's been said since Saiyan Saga.
Honestly a lot of it is spectacle at this point, at least to me. It's too bad. I enjoyed my first watch-through of Super but the more I thought about it the more cracks I saw. I wish SSJ Blue had some sort of grounding to make its power more "real" and palpable. DBZ did that fairly well (all things considered) throughout but yeah, it's a great lesson against power creep at the very least. After watching something like Hunter x Hunter my perspective on manga/anime power systems has changed a lot.
Don't worry, I'm no HxH elitist nor do I wish to put other series down, I just really love it and it helped broaden my perspective on the execution of shonen tropes after only having seen DB/DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach. I hope Togashi is doing relatively well considering his situation.

It feels really weird that Gohan, after not training for a few years after the ToP, he gets a form that pretty much is only there to bring him back up with the top tiers. It's still really cool that he got a new form, but it really felt forced, I think it'd be better if he trained just a little. Because keep in mind, he did no training, at all, and then got stronger than basically everybody. It just really doesn't feel earned. I like the form, but it just doesn't have any worth to it. UE was awesome to see because Vegeta was training for a long time and didn't really show off much until then, it felt earned mostly because we knew he had something in store, or something he was preparing to show off. I hope this clears up what might've seemed like me hating on Gohan's new form.

Think about how many years it took for goku to progress to the level frieza is at. Took goku a few decades when frieza never trained a day in his life. you also have to think that even in his weakest form frieza could vaporize a planet.
