Finaly someone show how trunk works. Thank you!
No problem!
I have software 2024.3.25 I don't see that settings in lock settings.
Is this rolled out to all models or just highland 3?
@@zz-.- i think highland 3s and refreshed model S and X
Trunk does not use the camera, it uses UWB and you also need a smartphone that is UWB capable
Uwb standa for?
@@nejcribic Ultra wideband
I think the auto trunk uses your phone and not camera? Or maybe both?
Yes, it uses ultra-wideband to detect the position of your phone behind the car.
Yeah - the phone's in my pocket the entire time and you definitely need it on you for this to work!
UMC has gone from 8A to 10A now since the update
Is this update only for the new model 3? I have a 2021 model 3 and haven’t got this yet
Is the trunk only with the refreshed 3?
Is the ‘no hands’ trunk opening feature for selected vehicles only? I don’t see it on my USA( Puerto Rico) 2023 MYP, don’t see the sentry notification update either.
I saw audible at the beginning. So excited for that to be coming. I'm getting a model Y with HW4 soon. Do you know if this software (audible), would be on that? Or is this tied to the fancy update of the M3’s?
Looking at other videos from Model Y owners I suspect audible will definitely be available!
Support for Model Y too?
The autowipers seemed to have a significant update. It was very lightly raining yesterday and they were running almost too frequently. For years I've had to manually tap them to get a swipe occasionally in rain that light.
I just feel ridiculous when it's drizzling and the wipers act like we're in a tropical typhoon. At least now I can turn it down without having to adjust my hands too much.
Thanks for showing how the trunk works...
I tried it out during the day today and it works well.
rather : showing how the new trunk feature doesn't work :( The purpose of the "hand free opening" is the ability to automatically open the trunk when you hold a crate or a bag. Big fail on this "first release". But I'm sure they will improve this in a future update. I'M a bit concerned about how it works, the mechanism should relies more on the position (it has to use the UWB capabilities of the lastest iPhone), so I do not understand why the camera seems so important.
Have a 24 mslr and just updated it and don’t see the hands free trunk option in my lock 🙃
Excellent video and editing skills, keep going!
Thanks!
Do you have to stand that close to the trunk to initiate the auto opening? That seems unnaturally close for me. Also do you have the auto shift R-D-R?
No you don't have to. I tried it at Ikea today where I pushed a trolley to the back of the car and stood at a comfortable distance away. It's been working quite well so far.
Rear autotrunk isn't using cameras, it's using UWB tech, which is located in the bottom left part of the rear bumper
Thanks for testing out the different standing positions for the trunk! Glad they added this. For the gear selector, are the placement for the new and old parking different?
Yeah - to put the car in park there used to be a dedicated button at the top for you to press. Now you can press anywhere along the smaller gear shifter and it'll shift to park.
@@Kelvin273.15 sounds much better, hope to pick up my RWD early next month and test it out :) are you planning to buy the s3xy buttons in place of the removed turn signal stock?
@@81springbrook96 I actually found the buttons quite intuitive to use. I'd be lying though if I said that I don't occasionally miss the buttons. There has to be a specific way you press it, especially the right turn button on the top but maybe it's just me!
Thank you for testing out the trunk features. I'm more certain that I should be getting a new Model 3 over a Y now!
Thanks for watching! It was quite the dilemma on paper to pick between the two but my mind was set after a quick test drive. The car feels more refined and the build quality was definitely better imo. Of course that might change once the refreshed Y comes out but no regrets!
Very informative video Kelvin
Thank's - glad you liked it!
Ooh the wiper controls are so nice, ESPECIALLY with auto next to off instead of beyond 4. I ve wanted that swap for a while
It's raining everyday over here and just one less thing that forces me to take my eyes off the road.
For your case or bag in front of you test, you should try a bit more far from the car.
So I just got 2024.14.6. Pretty much everything you went through except for the hands free trunk so I wonder if it’s only the new M3?
I get the feeling it is for now. Hopefully they are just planning to release it a bit later like some of the other features. Did you get the adaptive high beams?
@@Kelvin273.15 no, didn’t get that either which I think that’s also part of 14.3. Tbh it’s annoying how they do their updates. I got 2024.14 then skipped to 14.5 and 14.6. I also have sensors in my car so I know they focus more on the models without
When update in Europe?
Great vid btw
Thanks! Didn't realise it's not out in Europe yet... I would be interested to know how long it takes for the update to arrive!
Will the trunk automatically open if you are standing next to the car and some random person walks up to the trunk?
I tried it just now where I stood by the driver side door and had someone try to activate the trunk and it doesn't automatically open.
Handsfree trunk game changer. Bigger font on speedo great. I'm sure the crate issue can be worked out with future software
Have you figured out how to switch the gear in N ?
Good question - i'll have try tomorrow. Though I suppose there's always the buttons on the overhead console.
@@Kelvin273.15 indeed, that’s what I used yesterday, embarrassed with my car on the automatic car wash, 30 minutes after I received this update.
Hold down the N at the bottom of the gear shift on the screen.
excellent breakdown
Thanks!
Nice video ! One more reason to replace my 2019 LR with a 2024 😋
Would you get the Performance, LR or RWD?
@@Kelvin273.15 LR ! No need for 510HP to go to work :)
so cool!
Best part is that it's free lol. Makes me wonder what else they'll release in the coming months.
Personally would never use dark mode in daylight. You see much more reflections and fingerprints... Looks cooler though :)
I think that's fair enough. I said it at the time but upon reflection it doesn't make sense from a safety perspective!
I want the blind spot cameras to show up on their respective sides. (Left blind spot on the left side of the screen and right blind spot on the right side)
It was pretty confusing on my RHD model when I first used the indicator and had to look at the left of the screen to see the blind spot camera. Didn't feel very safe. I've since moved it to the right so at least it's closer to the stearing wheel when i'm driving which helps.
I wish the turn signal view could be made fullscreen much larger. With the wide angle lens, I find it difficult to pick up a car in the lane with just a quick glance.
Ot doesn't use the camera, it uses your phone, still, great video!
Thanks - just some late night musings while editing this video at 3AM! I actually went to Ikea today and did groceries and it worked great.
wow! can't wait to get it too!...i seem to always get updates way later then most owners
Yeah I got it while on the train to work which was a nice surprise (at ~8am 3 May AEST). Wonder if it differs by region.
I have the new model 3 and I still don’t have this update ☹️
Hopefully you get it soon! I'm based in Australia so not sure if its based on region or some other factor.
Very cool update I have a 2020 Model 3 I don't believe my car will get this upgraded UI.
Hopefully they release it gradually over time. How's the car holding up after ~4 years?
@@Kelvin273.15honestly I think the car has held up amazing after 4 years and almost 70,000 MI I'm looking at selling it and trading it in for the New performance variant.
So the trunk doesn’t open when you actually are in a situation where your hands are holding something and want the trunk to open 🤷🏻♂️
I wonder how Tesla tests their software.
NO STALKS. Hell no. Handsfree trunk would be really unsuitable for where I live. It is gonna hit something.
Half of this features are not available on 2021 cars and Intel can definitely run it. Just after 3 years they are outdating our Teslas such disappointment! 😢
This is my first ever EV/Tesla but all the reports you see online definitely makes it hard not to worry about the longevity of the vehicle. I recently visited China and it's scary how many locally manufactured EVs you see on the road. It'll be hard to compete when you can get one for as little as $10k. The flipside is that a lot of them looked really dirty and I'm not sure the owners care enough to have them washed either!
@Kelvin273.15 unless something really surprising happens with some lower end Teslas, they'll likely be primarily the performance go to in the automobile side of the company before long.
Intel atom processor in your Tesla barely opens a website. So I don’t blame Tesla for not releasing the update for your car.
I have auto trunk on my car, a Volvo.
Works every time and i can also close it hands free.
This car is from 2017 (my 18).
Tesla is kind of lagging behind more and more.
But… it’s a volvo…
@@thomasstroem Yes, i know. Something that actually work. =)
Wipers are the only thing that I don’t like. They just leave their own life.
Did a short drive today in the rain and had to keep adjusting between auto and the lowest setting! But at least it's easier now...
I farted
Tesla sales are dropping. Elon Musk has fired two senior executives. He fired the whole team that worked on the charging station. Global layoffs is 140,000
Global layoffs is not 140,000 lmfao
@KoncealedCinema I made a mistake 140000 global. Do a search then. Tesla layoff is the search I did
@@bobjohnston5527you mean 14,000 layoffs? ~10% of its workforce.
Yeah so what? Google also layed of more than 100,000 people. Ford too. It’s just Tesla gets the headline news.
@terryv1554 It's 20% 140000. I did a search on it last night. I know what it said. Do a search on it and you will see what it says
