It's gaining in popularity because it uniquely combines defence techniques, dance, yoga and healing systems. various places in Kerala martial art is performed on stage you should see it's excellent . lots of people still think that martial art was invented in China . actually one Indian monk who brought Buddhism to China practiced kalaripayattu and he taught some of it's practice to his disciples in china .

I'm Tamil, born and brought up in kochi and I'd say, You will never find a place in India like kochi... Ppl.. places.. That vibe... Its different
Although a lot of foreigners gets scammed and has their experience ruined most of the time
I'm amazed to see the local people speaking good English and catching easily what max is speaking and haven't seen this any other part of India

Varkala beach, Kovalam beach with the lighthouse, chilli beef and parotta, churches that are all over the state, Munnar in the highlands with the sunrise or sunset, maybe a beach resort,
Ayurvedic massage, kalarippayattu fighting, Athirappaly Waterfalls, Trivandrum and the bird statute in that town called jatayu, oh and check out the richest temple in the world in Kerala.
Also, check out the Thattukada Chicken Fry (spicy good fried chicken) not sure where, but do ask around or use google.
Also visit Goa, Indias Mexico equivalent (you have to try vindaloo there, chicken, bf, lamb)
