    Can we talk about how cute Samin is every time she eats something she loves? She giggles every single time and it makes me so happy to see someone experience so much joy from oatmeal.

    Samin, I'm a huge fan, but PLEASE try it with whole rolled oats, my dear! You won't go back to instant. You don't even need to cook it. I make something like this at the office with my dried berries, chopped pecans, hemp seeds, ground flax, cinnamon, salt (of course)... I just pour BOILING water over the whole thing, cover it with a plate, and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Then I come back and stir in some milk. Whole oats arr also more nutritious than quick oats. Please, please, dump the gloopy instant oats!

    Now that is a power breakfast! Love dates! I grew up with them to, but in California -- date groves in the desert forever. So good. Thanks!

    I love this girl and all of her creative work. Not in agreement as far as the instant oats, non-processed oats will not come out mushy, I will try this with the Medjool dates, excellent tip.

    Steel cut oats are the best! They take 30 mins to cook but so much tastier and better!

    • @lethiapage4767
      @lethiapage4767 Před 5 lety +1

      I'm not patient enough for steel cut but I think quick oats is always gloopy. When I learned that you get so much better results from old fashioned whole rolled oats I switched over. It's chewier, less pasty. And not much longer to prepare. I love them in overnight oats. I prefer it cold and it's added bonus that they turn out like cookie dough even when I add the healthiest ingredients...so if I can turn superfoods into cookie dough I'm all in. I have got to get on the date train. To me they aren't the least bit appetizing...I like the neutral taste of table sugar and ever since I learned that figs have wasp larvae in them I'm rather turned off by sticky fruits like that. I know it's ridiculous. hahahhhaha

      Soak them overnight and then then simmer them for 10 minutes. Perfect. I add brown sugar and dried cherries and a splash of Vanilla to my bowl, put the hot steel cut oatmeal over it, let sit a couple of minutes. Milk or half & half. Perfection!!

  • @robohippy
    @robohippy Před 3 lety

    Well, I eat oatmeal 5 days a week. Weaned myself off of 'processed' oatmeal, and buy rolled oats at the local Farmer's Market. Entirely different taste, and far better. You can't cook the quick oats without them turning into wall paper paste, which in the old days was basically flour and water..... the taste and texture are well worth the wait. Steel cut oats taste better, but take longer to cook. Not sure if they could be done in a rice cooker or not...

    I would use regular slow cooking oats, plus flax seeds need to be ground to release their health benefits. I like whole blueberries unstirred with chopped walnuts. Granola is too carby.

    At my age (and I am older than our presenter), #1 you're not dead, and #2 you've beaten the odds.
    Without faulting the flavors... how much carbs/non-digestible fiber does the body you inhabit really require?
    Take a stance? The answer is not in the bathroom scale: muscle weighs more than fat.
    It's the mirror.
    You're good when you see abdominal veins under your skin, and you don't feel hungry.

    Instant oats are just finer and therefore result in a faster cooking time. MY DEAR FOLKS, their nutritional value is precisely the same lmao 🌚
