    Ok. BEFORE you hit that dislike button because I don't love your favorite fragrance, hear me out. 😎
    No fragrance is perfect, and no fragrance can be loved by everyone. So therefore, I don't believe that hyping a fragrance is ever warranted...someone will always be disappointed. HOWEVER, this is not to say that you shouldn't love what you love.
    Subjectivity is both the bane and the beauty of being a fragrance lover. Two people might experience a fragrance in completely contrasting ways, which is incredible. A fragrance might move you to the moon while it moves someone else to the toilet, which is also incredible. Embrace this! Don't be perturbed by someone not liking what you like. It doesn't need to change a thing. Be the you-est you that you can be!

    Over-hype: when something's hype doesn't match reality.
    If something is hyped and lives up to it, then it's just credit where credit is due.

    • @stayfreshproductions
      @stayfreshproductions  Pƙed 3 lety +3

      But that’s just the thing-even if it doesn’t match reality for you, it might match it for other people. It goes the other way too-something might live up to the hype for you, but the person next to you might find it mediocre.

    • @JayMannStuff
      @JayMannStuff Pƙed 3 lety +2

      @@stayfreshproductions Yeah, for sure. As an amateur DIY perfumer, I'm writing on that. Some genes enable people to smell certain molecules, like beta Ionone. Other genes affect how things smell, like cilantro. Even a person's individual memory associations can impact how something smells. Plus, skin chemistry affects fragrances on skin. Plus temperature and humidity.
      However, I think there's a difference between saying "this is a fragrance I don't like or I felt didn't live up to the hype" versus saying:
      "X is overrated/over hyped." The former is a statement about personal opinion. The latter indicates that the hype is objectively wrong or false or misleading, and that those perpetuating the hype are wrong.
      It's a slight nuance thing. But why leave margin for error?
      EDIT: Hype is a phenomenon a community creates, not an individual. In almost all cases. So dismissing the hype should usually be done through saying your opinion and the hype disagree, not saying the hype is exaggerated or incorrect.

    Funny enough the only major reformulation that happened to LNDL was like six months into its release. I had an original batch and it performs the same as it always has. The aftershave was stronger and more masculine than the original Edt. I hate when frags get hyped because it's always to make money. You can buy in bulk the initial batch of a perfume, wait for a refirnulation or two then release a video saying how the new batches just aren't as good as the old ones. Then you got $300 bottles of 2012 LNDL selling off your eBay store. Of course only the biggest influencers can do this. Youre one of the few I trust. I know a prick that hypes any new perfume up and directs you to his affiliate links to blind buy it.

I am curious to try the alternatives mentioned! I don’t know Pasha de Cartier Parfum and Jacques Fath Curaçao bay, but do know that I love the original “Chambre Noire” it’s so smooth and sexy! Have you tried it? For D&G: Heeley Sel Marin or Bvlgari Aqva Marine are way better!

    But JC you recommended Bentley Intense as a good cheapie...and I started to buy it.😂😂😂 I gotta lay off these overhyped fragrances and buy the ones I like. With all the recommendations/reviews in the CZcams frag community, I’m suffering fragrance fatigue. As such, I’m in the process of simplifying my collection to just a few fragrances. As much as I love blue fragrances, I find it redundant to have 10 bottles of blue juice with similar note breakdowns. I just want a few fragrances that I enjoy wearing without being influenced by the opinions of others. That’s no diss to you...it’s stay fresh for life. âœŒđŸŸ

      @@Safefragrance not at all. I was a bit worried as well, but it follows a lot of the same MMM earthy/patchouli vibe as most of the other darker Replica lines. Sparkles in the opening and gets powdery and sweeter in the drydown. Nothing super dank or fresh-weedy though, if anything, it's a faint earthy/sulphuric patchouli. Definitely my fav frag so far out of the ones I have tried. Although first times I tried it especially first time I remember it being waaay to harsh (I gave it like a 3/10). I think it was the opoponax for me because the harshness reminded me of the OG Interlude from Amouage which also has opoponax. But after a short while I started to adore it and now it's a solid 10/10 for me.
