  • What's the difference between a rosary and a chaplet? This can be a bit confusing because both rosaries and chaplets are strings of beads used to pray the "Our Father" and "Hail Mary" prayers. This video shows how they are different.

If you get devoted to praying the Rosary everyday, that's one of the BEST decisions you've ever, and will ever make in your life.
Same goes for the chaplet of Divine Mercy.
I beg you, do not miss a single day without praying at least the Rosary just once...

I never knew anything about a chaplet. I have received Rosaries from America Needs Fatima. This morning I was going to pray the rosary and I found a St. Michael the Archangel chaplet. I wanted to find out how to pray using this chapter and I thank you for this video. It's very informative. Stay in prayer people! Especially these day's!

Hi Isabella, all Catholic rosaries have ten beads in a decade, however, there are other strings of beads called chaplets for various devotions, while these are not true rosaries, they do have Catholic prayers associated with them (for example, the St. Michael Chaplet, or the Our Lady of Sorrows chaplet). While the Episcopalians may have prayer beads, it is not the same origin or prayer structure as the rosary.

The rosaries has it's origin from paganism "Prayer beads originated with the Hindu faith. Using beads for devotions dates to the 8th century BC in the cult of Shiva. In India sandstone sculptures, statues ca 185 BC, show Hindus with prayer beads. The names of Hindu gods and prayers are repeated on stringed beads, called mala, separated by larger or different colored beads" (Patricia A. Dilley, A History of Praying on Beads). "Hindu converts kept their traditional use of prayer beads. Buddhist monks always carry a strand of prayer beads, or rosary, usually of 108 beads" (Patricia A. Dilley, ibid). Also Jesus Christ spoke against vain repetition which is basically babbling like pagans "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking." (Matthew 6:7) The Catholic Church contradicts the whole Bible, when you pray to God you pray to him as a friend. "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:15

@@rolanddeschain5937 Beads are a method of counting. Try praying the Our Father 150 times and you'll soon need a method to count it. The early Catholics also use knotted ropes. I use my rosary on other prayers that need counting.
Back in the day, the monks used to pray the Psalms. Since the lay people want to pray with the monks but they can't read and write, the monks suggested that they pray 150 Our Fathers in place of the Psalm.
Eventually, it evolved into 1 Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, and one Glory Be as we meditate on the 4 sets of 5 mysteries dedicated on life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

I think the Episcopalian Rosary has 7 beads where the Catholic Rosary has 10(or a decade). How was wondering how one can tell the difference? Is Mary always on the back of the Crucifix of the Chaplet? My brother bought a Rosary at an Episcopalian church that has 7 beads, he said it was their Rosary that they pray. I was just wondering.

roland deschain, actually the rosary if said with love and good concentration brings us closer to Christ, his Passion on the cross and sufferings he went through for our sake. The rosary is a powerful weapon, I can see why Satan hates it and brings much confusion and hatred towards it. Mary always guides and points us to her beloved son, Jesus.

r u living ur life according to God's teachings or r u loyal to the contradictions to what ur religion teaches? God told u in the 2nd Commandment NOT to 'make' idols or images. Jn 14:15 “If you love ME, keep my Commands. scapulars, rosaries, medals, relics, religious statues, pictures, Christ 'perpetually' hanging on a cross are all idols/images. the religion u chose teaches u idolatry by wearing, bowing before or praying on an image forbidden by God. Jn 14:23 “Anyone who loves ME will obey MY teaching. ur religion teaches u to pray to dead men & women who ONLY God knows if they r in heaven or hell. the bible very clearly tells u NOT to pray to angels. God's very first Command is to NOT have any other god's sharing his glory. how many thousands of dead people do u pray to that may be in hell? Prov 13:1-25 A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. do u live by what ur religion teaches u or do u back up every word with what the bible teaches? Mt 12:36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak," not only are u practicing idolatry you are 'teaching thousands of others' to be idolaters, which makes 'u' responsible for their souls. Not one single thing u are teaching to the world is truthful or found in any scripture. the assumption or ascention is 'nowhere' in scripture, but made up by the rcc > (Deut12:32). "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you 'shall not add to it nor take away' from it" u just add in a bunch of lies that contradict God, which is very grievous sin. that rosary, medal, & cross w/Jesus on it is satanic & has NO power to 'do' anything. u teach fiction meant to contradict God & make the rcc religeon a higher authority than God. Do not listen to this woman's lies, do not pray to the dead, especially who may be in hell. > "Then you will call on ME & you will come & pray to ME & I will hear [your voice] & I will listen to you. Then you will seek ME & require ME & you will find ME when you search for ME with ALL your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord," "Is God a liar"? Isa 6:3, or is man a liar? Jesus loves u, but if u don't repent, ur not going to live with him in heaven for eternity. "you have to believe what > I < say or you will never be acknowledged." Isa 7:9
