Earthquake: The Big One is Back at Universal Studios Hollywood, and we’re here to celebrate its return! #universalstudioshollywood #universalstudios #studiotour
1:36 The gas truck falling never looked like a realistic fall and slide, but I remember it being a bit faster and more realistically than that. They really went slow and steady with the truck on this refurbishment though 😂
Probably less stress on the equipment. I think the main reason is to not freak too many people out with it despite the fact it just a simulation. It's a bummer they removed the official BART logos from this ride. Probably to avoid copyrights. I only been to the one in Florida. Not sure if they did the same thing there.
Definitely looks like a fresh modern day subway/bart station. Even the train color looks more like the new bart trains. It was looking so dim and dusty before 😄
It's cool that the Tram sticks around for a it to see Earthquake reset. You get a great appreciation on how things work. Next try to sit in Car 3, best seat in house. BTW it is so good to have Earthquake back, awesome update (next please bring back the OG Kong Encounter ad The Collapsing Bridge).
From a business standpoint I can see why they got rid of it lol. Barely any reaction from anyone on the ride and the effects are antiquated, but really that lies with the execution of the ride's reinstatement, and not with the ride's concept innately. I'm glad they brought it back though. Old rides don't deserve to be pushed out. They deserve to be preserved and upgraded. Earthquake was always a favorite of mine, but I like highly thematic slower moving rides.
I miss the old attraction when it had the old subway train designs and the gas truck design and also there's a car and I hope they will scrap the new version because everyone hated it in the studio tour
I think they changed it because they didn’t want to be acually copyrighted by the Real Bay Area rapid transit for copying a station name So they changed it to waterfront and gave the ENTIRE a station a whole overhaul though the effects were toned down Many people hate it as they miss the origninal but I think it’s probably for the better instead of randomly loud sounds th st probably do nothing
The refurbishment is kinda nice acually They finally gave it proper sound effects And the subway train and gas tanker truck gets a new paint job. Although the original will be missed you can always make a replica of it
Don’t know why many people hate it like it’s a old ride and it was going to be refurbished Built back in the 80s it was probably gonna fall apart and meet the same fate the original earthquake did
Wow there's a difference from old to new , not sure why the second ceiling didn't fall , and not alot of fire in the front. Maybe I have to experience it soon
a want to start a remake of the movie earthquake to start with this attraction, then as the tram leaves this fake earthquake, they realize a real one has happened just outside.
Wow, that took a long time. Easily one of my favorite parts of the Studio Tour. SO GLAD it got a facelift - the old set dressing was very 90's. I wish the metro train looked a little more current, but this is undoubtedly the best the attraction has ever looked. All these haters in the comments are just jealous they haven't experienced it yet.
The sound design was completely different, the looks were changed quite a bit, movement wise, it was a lot smoother. These older attractions need refurbishments in order to maintain them. Mold grows, things break, it’s not an overnight thing :)
The ride system itself was completely replaced. It was running off the original for decades, but now uses the same technology as the newer attractions like King Kong and Fast and the Furious.
I want a tour style ride in Florida like the great movie ride but scenes from Universals previous rides. Loved Earthquake! Fast and Furious was an awful replacement
I hate this because I know it sucked I will ask them to change it back into the old designs like the truck has liquid gas on the tanker trailer and the subway car is supposed to have Bay Transit on each side and also on the front

I feel like that’s similar logic to: “we made this horror movie less scary because too many people were getting scared”
And wasnt there like an electricity pole thats suppsoed to swing when the trucks coming
Lots of new paint & lighting. Looks great! Thanks for sharing.
Fr looks better old paint was eh
But gonna miss the old paint
ITS FINALLY BACK!!
if only they bring this ride back to the Florida Park.
miss that ride so much ☹️
Same, but I doubt they will.
The Earthquake the Big One was Old. Now It's a New Earthquake The Big One! 😊
I still miss the original sound effects of this attraction but it still looks incredible how they did it.
Thank God!!!!!!! No stupid screens 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wait... What are the upgrades again? New paint jobs and some new sound effects? I was expecting faster truck drops and maybe more fire sparks!
???
Yeah, they touched up the paint and called it new.
The truck and train look new, and it sounds like they added different sound effects.
No doubt. It still looks dated.
LOL AT 2:17 THE MAN YELLED TIDAL WAVE that part really made me laugh
Definitely looks like a fresh modern day subway/bart station. Even the train color looks more like the new bart trains. It was looking so dim and dusty before 😄

Still missing the Tesla Coil effect in the electrical cabinet
It looks like that the track where the team drives on doesn't shake as much as the last one looks like a gentle shake now
If I have to say, it’s worth the wait

2:01 I like the old coming beep train sound which was used in 1989 until 2008
Welcome back earthquake!
Yay that's so cool that they have upgraded it
My childhood! I remember when this was in FL.
Orale jp gracias carnal ive been waiting for this
When the world needed it most, it returned.
Stop hating on this ride people and enjoy it even is still around
We must enjoy what it still has to offer
it honestly looks so much better than last time. am gonna miss the old one but the new one is better.
Yay!
Earthquake is so underrated
Fr
@@brianorozco1074 and the fact that the studio tour’s “grand finale” is fast and furious is trash
I'm going here sometime in June so I can experience the 60th Anniversary
I Was Here ❤
hopefully twister makes a comeback because of the new twisters movie
Classic reborn. Like it
Nice video jpland21
I miss the old earthquake effects.
No way, Earthquake: The Big One got refurbished?!? That's new.. (idk why some people hate it...)
What happened to the electricity in the cabinet and the swinging electric pole above the semi?
I went on this ride as a kid and it scared me so bad, this ride open new fears in my life.
Why does it look way less realistic than before, like the colors are too bright, doesn't looked lived in and more.
It was modernized
@@imsocool5932It was lameized.
@@imsocool5932it was indeed modernized as it was old build back in the 80s
The tram cars look less shakey compared to the past and they removed the tesla coil :(
Loved the TM Preview today! What photo ops did you do?
Yes...more PRACTICAL EFFECTS please!
I was jelly that I didn't get to see it on the tour but I like that they're keeping it in good condition
AWWW MANNN MY PASS JUST EXPIRED TODAY MAYBE NEXT TIME THOUGH BUT I DONT EXPEREINCE THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY
I get butterflies in my stomach when JP posts😮💨🙂↕️🥴
LETS GO
Wish they had kept this in universal orlando
I miss the old attraction when it had the old subway train designs and the gas truck design and also there's a car and I hope they will scrap the new version because everyone hated it in the studio tour

what movie was this earthquake from?
This Earthquake have at least 35 years.
Don’t know why many people hate it like it’s a old ride and it was going to be refurbished
Built back in the 80s it was probably gonna fall apart and meet the same fate the original earthquake did
Doesn't have quite the same oomph as the original here in Florida (which was fairly terrifying), but certainly better than endless screens.
Wow there's a difference from old to new , not sure why the second ceiling didn't fall , and not alot of fire in the front. Maybe I have to experience it soon
Yo I saw you pass by water world yesterday
Yes finally it reopens for refurbishment
they toned down the shaking i went day 2 and the water effect was not working on my experience
And I hope they will add a new sound effect called let's get out of here the water main just broke. Mp3
But, What If There Was An Actual Earthquake During This
Like On “Beverly Hills Cop III”
Just went to US. Did the tour this ride was not apart of it😢
I was there last Friday they didn’t show us this 😫
Still under renovation
I think the tram is acting like the one from 1999
Does the VIP tour trolley go into here or is it just Tram ?
Both do!
To be honest, the new paint jobs remove the realism compared to the original set. Also missed the dim lighting :( but this is still cool though!
Lived thru too many quakes since '71. No thanks on the sim.
I prefer the old colour scheme green and yellow
a want to start a remake of the movie earthquake to start with this attraction, then as the tram leaves this fake earthquake, they realize a real one has happened just outside.
And why modern sound effects
Wow, that took a long time. Easily one of my favorite parts of the Studio Tour. SO GLAD it got a facelift - the old set dressing was very 90's. I wish the metro train looked a little more current, but this is undoubtedly the best the attraction has ever looked. The Metro train look like Bart Simpson train
@@sebastianaguinaldo2243the Bart simson train? Not a simson refrence for the Bay Area rapid transit
You mean the bay transit version from the old version from 1975 release @@gabrielquinones3343
So………
Why did the refurbishment take like 7 months? Lol it looks literally the same. I’m glad nothing was changed but it looks, moves, sounds the same
The sound design was completely different, the looks were changed quite a bit, movement wise, it was a lot smoother. These older attractions need refurbishments in order to maintain them. Mold grows, things break, it’s not an overnight thing :)
The ride system itself was completely replaced. It was running off the original for decades, but now uses the same technology as the newer attractions like King Kong and Fast and the Furious.
It doesn't seem a lot different. Maybe a new coat of paint and some screen doors but not much has changed.
Why don't u ever so Magic Mountain videos?
I want a tour style ride in Florida like the great movie ride but scenes from Universals previous rides. Loved Earthquake! Fast and Furious was an awful replacement
So... they painted it. Its the same.
And why is it UMT That's a rip off of Bart transport
Bay Area rapid transit ?
I hate this because I know it sucked I will ask them to change it back into the old designs like the truck has liquid gas on the tanker trailer and the subway car is supposed to have Bay Transit on each side and also on the front
I hope it's going to be replaced into Metro trans
It isn’t it just got refurbished
The way everything moves so slow in slow motion lol so cheesy 😊
earlyyyyyy
Nobody CARES
I don’t like this version I liked the older version but I do like the sound effects
Well, I am looking forward to see this Refurbished Attraction.
I wish they would bring this back to Orlando. Fast and Furious sucks!
This makes no sense. A hot set with a subway and a falling truck 😂🤡
I just farted.
I'd much rather pay to see this in Orlando vs fast and furious. Sorry US you made a mistake FF sucks The Big One 😉
It looks like a f****** cartoon design that's just bad cartoon designs
Meh they dumbed this down and it's less scary
All they did was repaint stuff. Let down.
I hate the new version of this people hated it everyone rated one out of 10
I’d give it 10/10 stop hating on a old ride
Like your hating on a peice of history that was repaired and upgraded ?
Your life must be pathetic just to hate on a peice of history
I hope they will get rid of it because it sucked
What sucked the fast and furious
Disappointing
This is dumb
