I feel like I’m in the minority that doesn’t mind Kong without 3D, but I think certain rides that have it (Spider-Man, Transformers, Gringotts) should keep it because it plays such a key role with how those rides work. I can’t imagine a world without a 3D Spider-Man 😭😭
I like Kong as 2D too!
Nice shades?
The 3D on Spiderman was done absolutely perfectly. The effect is immersive and very importantly doesn't make most people motion sick. The same can not be said for Forbidden Journey and The Simpsons Ride which unfortunately do tend to make a lot of people motion sick. Universal, even if you strip 3D from every other experience please don't ever take it away from Spiderman where it is implemented at its very best.
My problem is that the video is obviously intended to have 3D effects. If they are leaving out the 3D, they should update some sequences of the video.
Kong was better in 3D
I wish Simpsons got a refresh. That projection really needs a HD update, it's so blurry.
Dude, for real man, and it’s amazing the 3D but really dated.
On Forbidden Journey a Dementor would get close to your vehicle and take your photo. It would display your photo on the "fog screen" at the end of the Dementor portion. Now you see four 'generic' skulls displayed on tye fog. I really miss that part!
They used to have arms too.
Aw man thats lame. It was so cool to see your photo
Dang, that sucks. I remember riding that ride with my mom and seeing her face all scrunched up with her eyes closed during that part X'D
Stan Lee appearances: dump truck driver, entering the movie theater, & after Spider-Man catches you with the web. His voice comes on at the end.
6:08 the IOA Marvel contract allows Universal to use any depictions of Marvel Characters that existed prior to the 2009 Disney buyout of Marvel. So yes, pretty much all of the Disney MCU stuff would be off limits.
I loved Hulks old story, but the updates are super cool too
Very true, but if I have to pick a ride experience, I’m picking the one with the music every time. It’s just so good you forget or may not even realize it didn’t always have it!
Yes, we were there last month and were a little disappointed the dramatic build up before the launch was removed. We assumed it was to cutdown on ride time but it was still a great ride. #2 best ride at the park. Velocicoaster #1 best ride hands down.
Adding a major X-Men ride would be dope especially with the popularity of X-men 97 plus Deadpool and wolverine comin’ out (with Logan in the classic yellow and blue)
All Disney stuff though!
@@VincentVision yeah but they could get away with it with just theming it to comic X-men since the designs are the same 😂which would probably piss Disney off more
@@brandonpuerta3935 Comic themed or not they still need Disney Approval in order to add any attractions using Marvel IP. Dont forget Disney owns Marvel entirely, not just the MCU.
Think about it like this: Disney bought Marvel in 2009 but didnt aquire FOX (who owned the movie rights to X-Men/Fantastic Four etc) until 2019. If the theme park licensing was based solely on MCU IP Universal could have put any attraction featuing the X-Men from the Fox movies (like First Class or Days of Future Past) into the parks had they wanted. But they couldnt because the licensing is for all of Marvel IP, regardless of source material (comics, cartoon, theatrical)
@@keithgray8222 ah got it that makes sense
There is an x-men themed ride (storm scrambler I think?), but it's often overlooked
Kong is so strange with no 3D. Now Kate is awkwardly massive when the bat picks her up, the tentacle monsters don't get closer to you when they lunge at you, etc. Just odd. I feel like I'm just watching TV and being moved around now.
They should put it back 😭
My first job at Universal Studios Hollywood was a ride operator at FJ when it first opened in 2016. I can’t tell you how obnoxious the 3D was, not just from a team member perspective but also from a guest perspective. Besides the motion sickness, the ride itself wasn’t designed to be in 3D the way Kong or Spider-Man was. Plus it made the ride’s practical sets so dark that you couldn’t see all the details.
I haven't ridden Kong in 2D yet, but Minions was so much better in 3D with all the stuff flying around and coming at you it was meant to be in 3D. "Make Minions 3D again !"
I've ridden it in both 3D and 2D, and I have to say it felt a lot less immersive without the glasses, because without the 3D the people on the screen look MASSIVE when the perspective makes it look like they're only a few feet away from the cars. also the distinction between the physical sets and the screen are much more obvious without the glasses. it's a real shame, as the 3D effects of the monsters throwing themselves at you were kinda the biggest selling point of the ride outside the giant Kong animatronic at the end
just happened across your video and its incredible!
Having been coming to these parks since birth in 02 its great to relive the nostalgia and learn more about the history!
Many thanks
so i KNEW i wasn't going crazy with the audio in forbidden journey. I was wondering the whole time if Harry always sounded so...echo-y. I've been going to universal for years and never noticed this before. This video is giving me nostalgia.
This makes so much sense now! I remember when the Hulk was so much louder as a kid, but as a returning adult, I thought I just imagined that lol. Love the fun facts Vincent!
First time I rode that, had no idea it would shout you out of the “cannon”. I distinctly remember not hearing the traditional clanking when going up the hill, thinking “why does this sound so quiet?”
there's a lot of small details I didn't know!! great video :^)
When the parks start to add holograms, rides will enter a whole other realm, very excited for that
Even with the changes from 3D to 2D I still get nauseous 😨 on Forbidden Journey.
Love the changes videos. Keep it up Vincent!❤
You forgot about along how it doesn’t take you outside anymore. A minor change but to me it dramatically changes the ride experience. Supposedly from what I heard is the track outside got damaged and they just never replaced it, but there’s no word of it being fixed or not. For the longest time now it just goes directly inside.
Which ride?
Probably Kong
Awesome video as usual Vincent 🤙
i always loved the spiderman and hulk rides as a kid. heck i remember going opening summer for the HP ride and it broke down on me mid ride XD
man i wanna go back someday
I love 3d rides
Fun video. I was able to ride Hulk and Spiderman before and after changes. Hulk did get somewhat better, and Spiderman lots better visually
Footnote: A really cool video on engineering changes of Rip Ride Rockit over the years can be found on Eltoro Ryan (past week). He charts the design issues that lead to minor chaos in load station, issues with onride evacuation, etc. Even claims x3 or more cost for all the redesigns; and good explanation for the head banging and discomfort. I will never look at RRR the same.
Love these historical videos
On forbidden journey I also remember that at the very end of the ride, once dumbledore tell you to tuck your elbows in, that the transition video afterward before you get off the ride used to be some sort of brick-textured animation. Now it’s like a green plasma/magic kind of visual animation
As a universal person once a year I love all the youruber park videos but found the park changes super interesting but the thing I hate is I heard kong doesn't drive you outside anymore.... it didn't last year but I blamed it on weather.... I'm not a fan if they just don't do it anymore 😢
I rememberd riding both the Harry Potter ride and Rip Ride Rockit once
Was on the Hulk earlier this year (2024) and it was so uncomfortable. My head was shaking side-to-side the entire time, even though I kept it back against the headrest. Not sure what happened there. Never experienced it in the past. Was sitting in one of the middle rows on the outside chair
Been on it twice in the past year and got a headache the first time and the second time I had to take a minute because I was dizzy from my head thrashing around. Not sure what it’s about I think it’s something with the coaster going into corners too hard. But my whole party felt the same
Love the content you’ve been putting out lately! All the other vloggers don’t cover / have the same ideas you do! Keep them coming!
I was there grade reopening day for Spider-Man. It was so exciting!!
Whenever I went on rip ride rock it My go to song was always stronger by Kanye west 😂😂
Only right choice
Stellar Video
Criminally underrated creator. Thanks for another bomb ass video 🫡
I stayed at royal pacific with my school yesterday and the day before and we were FAR away from the park and we could hear hulks roar😂
great video! one thing you missed was that when forbidden journey first opened, for at least a year, there were more than double physical dementors you see on the ride that come out and fly by. i have a friend who was a ride attendant during the opening year who pointed it out to me. they can actually still be seen today through those scenes if you look up towards the ceiling of the ride at those parts. just a bunch of disabled dementor animatronics. they were disabled due to guests complaining the ride was too scary for children to enjoy. i argue they’re more scary just sitting there! check it out next time if you didn’t know!
Great video, very informative
I'm lucky enough to have experienced both versions of the Spider-Man ride. He's my favorite hero, and hearing Stan Lee when I was there 2 years ago was amazing. Not to mention, Dr. Doom threatening me and the Green Goblin trying to choke me (not really, tho lol)
Great video 👌🏼👌🏼
Excellent video
I miss the old hulk roar !!!!!
Lol. The MCR song left me very confused. 😄
A couple more changes that was done recently to Spiderman most do not know about (because they are not major changes as for visually) Projection was changed out about a year ago so a sharper and brighter image, and ther RV,s are currently in the process of being replaced. It has also went away from using servers and using purpose built hardware for the Media player.(binloops)
Oooh, nice! Could you explain to me the last part of your comment? What difference does that make for the ride experience?
@VincentVision with the video coming from the servers it was compressed. With binloopes, the video is uncompressed, giving you better color and a sharper image.
I miss the original Hulk launch. Iconic.
Please don’t take away the 3D rides, it literally what makes it interesting. Otherwise you’re just in a jeep watching tv. It takes away the immersion
Vincent, I’ve been to Orlando, Florida this month for ten days. Do you know that “The Land of Make Believe” was filmed at Universal Orlando Resort and Discovery Cove?
Yeah they changed the Harry Potter ride in Japan to 3D and then dropped it but kept the goofier looking dragon that forces itself in your face right before you get a close up of it.
I went in 2022 and I noticed the field of all these rides we're different I just couldn't put my finger on what it was 🔥 thank you for letting me know I'm not crazy 🤣
Stan lee apperiences:
The truck driver,
Running into a movie theater with a girl,
After spiderman saves you,
Talking to the police before spider man takes a picture of you.
Great video! But more importantly…where is that awesome shirt from that you’re wearing?!
Only downside to Secret Playlist on Rip Ride Rockit is that they don’t tape you on the rollercoaster.
Also Rainbow Connection on the ride is a total experience! That’s the song I choose for my first time on the ride and I was laughing the entire time!
Thanks on the marvel clarification. I thought they would have to get rid of I because of Disney.
Nope, Universal has the Marvel rights FOREVER
Stan also runs away with a lady in the city scene, then almost gets hit when You drop into the web and then he is talking to the police at the very end. And his voice welcoming You back at ride closure is spectacular as well.
Vincent what is your favorite song from the secret menu on RRR? I always choose the Kermit song about Rainbows
Between lines, family members, and refurbishments, I've missed out on the hulk so many times
Yeah… it used to say “I think it’s going to work” and it was LOUD! I can’t believe they made it less loud, that explains why it was less impressive the last time I rode it. I couldn’t put my finger on what had changed, it’s Quiet now…
Vincent posts….. I click 🤠
You’re an outstanding CZcams channel.
5:50 if i remember correctly he appears at the end in J. Jonah Jameson office above riders heads
Fun fact universal also quieted down the Hulk coaster so they would not get the noise ordinance violation fine they got every day running the ride early or late in the day
pretty sure it's still loud enough that they still have to pay the noise ordinance fee which is why Hulk is never (rarely) open for early park admission.
Minions was fun as 3D. Kong I liked with 3D but so much was happening so maybe the 2D would be more helpful
On Hollywood’s Rip Ride Rockit if you put in the code 904 you will get a Disney song
We’re here at the moment and I normally love rip ride rocket but this time it was so so shaky it made my brain hurt :( I really hope they can smooth it out
I think removing 3D from Kong is a major downgrade. It makes it feel so much less immersive and puts in on par with F&F Supercharged, especially now that the ride vehicles don’t do the outside portion of the track. Taking something that was made for 3D and un-3Ding it seems like a budget cut because they don’t feel like paying people to clean the glasses. I rode it a few times this past week without the 3D and every scene was blurry. I’ve added it to my “not worth riding” list.
i like this video
I swear, when Forbidden Journey first got updated, when the dragon was roaring and breathing fire at you before the scene ends, there was no roaring sounds there…!
ElToroRyan just published an in depth video on RipRideRocket.
I swear they nerfed The Mummy ride.
I really wish they’d nix the 3D glasses at Gringotts! The ride is too rough for them and even if they don’t fall off (they have) it’s still distracting worrying about them
Just got back from a trip to Orlando, and I had a blast, but I was VERY upset that Kong was no longer in 3D and they had cut out the whole first section outside. It very much felt underwhelming without the 3D, I could tell from the mud worm that comes right at you before the girl starts shooting them.
3d was awesome on the minions and when they took it away it made it alot worse but it works for kong
A new Transformers ride would be awesome
Forgot to mention that spider man has been getting updated RVs
I didn’t notice! I take it they’re from Japan?
@@VincentVision yeah they are pretty similar. Same design just an updated version 3 model
The Kong ride should alter some scenes now that the 3D effect is retired. Seeing the monsters and other objects just get humongous on screen for the 3D effect is jarring.
Exactly. I was laughing at the massive Kate and my sister didn't understand why I found it humorous
I wear glasses and any way I could not wear 3D glasses would be great.
The Spider-Man is a masterpiece of an attraction. There’s not ONE flaw!
Wow I had no idea they made Kong worse than before 😅 I will continue to skip it as well as Fast & Furious, and the new minions
Didn't they reduce some of the jerkness on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey as well so it would be less nausea inducing? I still get a little motion sickness when riding it, can't imagine how bad it was before.
I also get really bad motion sickness when I go on this ride 😅
Do they still have glamorous?
Does universal own marvel cartoons like X-men 97 ?? That show is a huge hit and could add so much to the land with those characters if they do 😊
They do not, but the show is clearly inspired by pre-MCU visuals, which is what the Marvel Superhero Island is all based off. It all comes full circle for Universal! 🔄
But what about *The Jurassic Park River Adventure?*
Rip ride hearing that it is getting phased out it’s ready for the typical coaster refurb but apparently not a popular ride so they dumped the licensing on the music prob getting dumped
Beastie Boys - Sabotage is the only track I pick on RRR.
Most important question, where the hell did you get that shirt man?? It's awesome
Thank you! It’s a RSVLTS shirt, they actually sell it in the park!
Does Universal not offer the 3-D cancelling glasses on those rides? They are polarized the same way in each lens and let folks that have issues with 3-D see a 2-D image.
Not that I’m aware, but that would be very cool!
My girlfriend and I road Rip Ride to Paranoid. It's great in theory, but a lot of the secret songs aren't synced well unfortunately.
Wait, King Kong got RID of the 3D this year!?
But I was just there and they had us wear 3D Glasses!
I saw him on the ride 4 times
Better with 3d
In harry potter you use to have your picture taken and then projected in fog, now its gone
Another change on Forbidden Journey was the projection at the very beginning and end of the ride, czcams.com/video/Zx3gn6cU2CY/video.htmlsi=YrH3CvI8NY7_3_Q0&t=581. It used to be travelling thru a stone brick hallway but it caused a lot of nausea so eventually they replaced the projection with the floo powder (I think, not actually to sure what it is) projection. I remember riding the ride around when it first opened and I remember the old beginning being much more immersive.
I like it without the 3D glasses. As someone that wears glasses, wearing the additional glasses are uncomfortable and I think makes you dizzy from that double lense effect.
Skull Island was such a huge let down - the queue is better than the ride. As a general rule, screen rides suck. Spider-Man uses screens in a great way though.
Disney or universal should make a thanos roller coaster
Spider-Man without the glasses I would not support. It’s necessary. It would also ruin the “nice shades” line. I also wouldn’t support the change on girngotts because of the snake scene
I think they need to get rid of most the 3d rides and go back practical effects. My best memories at universal are the practical effects rides.
I thought the Spider-Man update was 2010 not 2012?
I still find Hulk too painful, it rattles my head so much. I last rode it in October 2023, but unless they do something to make it smoother, I won't ride it again.
Can’t wait til they get rid of rocket
It would be nice if they updated their seats adult sized. As a guy with a big chest, I can barely get one click on the pull down bar on Forbidden Journey. If you’re a chick with a little extra thigh baggage, good luck sitting in most ride seats.
Kong ride is meh with or without 3D, Spider-Man should should stay 3D... Oh yeah tear down fast and furious ride!
