BC banning drug use in public spaces in major pullback of decriminalization

  • The B.C. government says it will ban drug use in all public spaces, including parks and hospitals, as part of a major overhaul of its drug decriminalization pilot project.
The move comes amid a raging debate over the province’s approach to the ongoing deadly toxic drug crisis, including decriminalization and “safe supply.”
Possession of up to 2.5 grams of a variety of drugs - including heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine - will remain decriminalized in private residences, places where people are legally sheltering plus overdose prevention and drug-checking sites.
Richard Zussman and Keith Baldrey have more on the reasons for the changes.

There is only one solution to the drug situation in BC and it is sobriety. How about this idea, Bonnie Henry and David Eby put our taxpayer monies into an exit plan to help people overcome addiction so they can have their lives back. Stop trying to normalize addiction as it is NOT normal and it is no way to live. And to make it clear if the citizens of this province were allowed to have an opinion on Safe Supply we would not be in this situation in the first place. John Rustad for Premier.
