Thanks a bunch for the review, guys! We absolutely love getting feedback from our backers and customers! To clarify a couple points, our pieces are all made not only in the US, but are actually injection moldered in our own shop. We design and make everything in-house. In fact, the only things we do not physically make are the boxes themselves. The pieces are made with 30% recycled plastics mixed with coconut or pine fibers (depending on the piece) to give them texture so they are not just a matte finish. This makes each of our pieces not only paintable for those that want too, but also makes them cleanable with isopropyl alcohol without damaging the part. Great for players that want to add some customization to their sets. As for the price point, here is a quick comparison: DCD comparables (unpainted and without free shipping- cheapest version of competitors) Dwarven Forge unpainted: $89/100sqin = $0.89/sqin Etsy typical D&D Terrain Tiles: $35/64sqin = $0.55sqin Wizkids unpainted: $79/168sqin = $0.47/sqin Rampage Dungeons smaller, unpainted: $59/144sqin = $0.41/sqin Ender’s Toys unpainted: $30/80sqin = $0.38/TVsqin CZYY Laser Cut MDF unpainted: $16/48sqin = $0.30/sqin Rampage Dungeons larger, unpainted: $195/720sqin = $0.28/sqin 2 Wave Laser Cut MDF unpainted: $145/576sqin = $0.26/sqin Adventure Terrain: $30/144sqin = $0.21/sqin DCD Base Colorized version and with Free US Shipping DCD Squire Set: $50/202sqin = $0.25/sqin DCD Rogue Set: $95/505sqin = $0.19/sqin DCD Knight Set: $175/1008sqin = $0.17/sqin DCD Legend Set: $250/2016sqin = $0.12/sqin These are obviously for our Dungeon Sets, but we keep as closely to this ratio as we can. As you said, Dwarven Forge makes some beautiful pieces, but we try to be a much more affordable, modular, and portable option for people, while still adding the ability to customize and paint the pieces how they want. Once again, thank you guys so much for the review and the feedback. We would love to hear your suggestions about making our pieces work better with systems like Battletech! Oh, and the reason the picture on the back includes the trees and minis that are not included are to give people a size reference, as some people are can identify more with a visual comparison than to us just listing the size. Cheers, DCD
I have always had a problem with hills to scale. There are some fine ones out there for 1/285 scale miniatures, beyond that, I don't think they look like hills. Cliffs maybe, but for the most part, the slope is the problem. I don't believe I will be adding this to my collection of terrain.
I've never heard of Dirt Cheap Dungeons before. Looks like a useful company, though I don't know how "dirt cheap" it is if this product costs $50. Then again, it's a mix of plastics, so there might be extra labor involved. Plus, apparently the plastic is at least partially recycled. I like the stackable nature of the hills. Not only gives elevation changes, but the rounded tops can also be used for minor mounds. I also like that you get plenty of small scatter pieces. The branches I can take or leave, but all the swords and shields and boots, etc, have a variety of uses.
I think the "cheap" part is relative, mainly to Dwarven Forge. I believe they are making these here in the U.S. using a new kind of system (siocast I believe) so there is increased cost from that.

Totally fair and valid.
