I'm still undecided, but part of me wants him for the 2003 CW season 2 look.Thats were the armor and cape come from. He wears his AOTC look until he gets Knighted, then has the long hair and starts to wear the armor.

Re-using the headsculpt is a good idea because the look of determination/anger always helps figures with the Hayden likeness. His likeness is pretty hard to nail. So having the furrowed brows is the best way to capture his vibe and presence.

Old video, but I think the Clone Wars costume design for both Obi-Wan and Anakin is some of the best of all time. Like they write such a story with their costumes. Anakin foreshadowing Vader’s look and having Obi-Wan with a military general persona, adds to the mythic of these two when you watch Episode IV

as someone with like a million hours in the game, i cant believe that i didnt realize the secondary armor is the shape from battlefront. it definitely also works as vader foreshadowing, but it’s cool to know that they got the specific reference from the game. great catch.

I’m actually pretty sure that the “battlefront” style armour is actually from the animation. I have no idea where the bluer looking armour is meant to be from. If you look at pictures of the animation that’s what I think.
All in all, awesome review, and I can’t wait to get mine!!

The "battlefront" style armour is for sure the version thats based off the animation as the shoulders flare out a bit. I think the bluer one is an extra that's supposed to be a call back to darth vader once the cape is attached.

The flared shoulders are the animated ones, the other one is the battlefront 2 ones. Both look so awesome!!

Dang I gotta admit, the LEDs in the STAP turbines almost FOMO'ed me.
His swap out armor choices are my favorite feature of the figure itself.

Fantastic figure review Justin! I love what they were able to accomplish and translate here. I really hope we see a clone wars flashback in the kenobi series with Anakin wearing this costume

If anyone is having trouble with the right hand gauntlet on their figure ive found a fix:
If you remove the gauntlet, smooth out the forearm fabric and put a fold in it, it fills more space once you put the gaunt back on (dont slide it on wrap it around his forearm to put it on) then when you clip it together it should lock together and have no issues of unclipping again because the fabric is pressing up against it on the inside. Worked a treat with mine and looks seamless 👍
Even when off the arm entirely mine doesn’t clip together
@@JustinsCollection Dang! What a shame, must just be moulded/ pressed in a slightly different tolerance. To be honest, im contemplating a little bit of e3000 in that inside seam of the clip just to hold it together, but can be removed later. I received clone wars maul today and his gaunt is marginally worse. They should just include 2 gaunts tbh

22:00 There was no overlap with Rex’s phase II armor and Anakin’s earlier seasons look, but rather the other way around! The Jedi seemed to get their new wardrobe in before the clones. Damn space shipping! Lol

3:23 it's the other way around. The one with the shoulder flare and articulation is based on the animation version. The one with flat rigid armor is the one based on Battlefront. A key detail you can focus on to tell the difference is the curved vs flat shoulders, among other smaller details. Here's a comparison: i.imgur.com/4539E1d.jpg

@@JustinsCollection The same features largely apply to the 2003 animated version as the 2008 3D version, as the 2D Tartakovsky designs directly inspired the 2008 early 3D designs: i.imgur.com/rdaayH7.jpg The flared shoulders, the smooth curves, the wider center chest area, the larger shoulder pauldrons. Either way, the one with the curved up shoulders is the "clone wars" version, both 2d and 3d. Of course there's some variation due to the flexible nature of 2d animation, so the 3D series introduced the articulation to allow the same range of movement: i.imgur.com/d4doFAt.jpg The 2003 series is indeed where the cape here comes from though.

Not huge fan of this particular figure, but the STAP with the battle droid looks awesome.
The color of the fabric was a nice touch. I could easily see it standing out from the crowd in a clone wars HT Star Wars collection.

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to attach the lightsaber arm without breaking anything? For me, the normal arm was difficult to get out of the mount and the lightsaber arm was just as difficult to get in and is now quite loose and wobbly.

Had him PO'd for a long time. Still I was on the fence recently mostly due to my concerns regarding face sculpt and I had doubts about animated torso combined with Hayden's likeness. But in your review he looks so good I think I will hit the confirmation button. :)

The STAP looks amazing. I ended up going for Anakin on his own though due to the size of the STAP, it would have taken up too much space for me and I'm saving £100 as well

The "animated" chest piece definitely makes his neck look too short in my opinion, but the more realistic "battlefront" version looks pretty great. I also like the new hair style.

Great review! I'm collecting my first Hot Toys ever which is Clone Wars Anakin and I am super excited, but I decided to get the regular version without the STAP since I wouldn't have enough room to display it.

Yeah man this is my 1st Hot Toy and I ended up doing the same with getting the regular release.
The secondary chest armor and cape are from his 2003 2D animated "Clone Wars" appearance.

He looks incredible. I wish I didn't have to cancel mine. With the head sculpt it looks like the hair is shorter but the face is my favorite Anakin the Revenge of the Sith one. Hopefully I can get him before he sells outs. Jango can't be to far behind him.

For phase 2 anakin I don't think they would have to release a hole new figure they would just need to do an accessory pack with a glove and a headsculpt simular to the phase 1 one but with slitley longer hair for the rots anakin figure

I think you have the Bsttlefront and animated armors mixed up. The flexible one that looks more scuffed up is actually the animated look and the other armor piece is pulled straight from Battlefront

I think they are making the lightsabers lighter because they want them to glow brighter. I honestly wish they would switch to colored plastics. Like a red lightsaber made out of red plasticl ike a hasbro figure. I think it would look more realistic in the daylight.

I totally agree about the head Sculpt. The Revenge of the Sith Anakin is spot-on I'd have to say that head sculpt the Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi all-perfect. They look exactly like the actors. We got some different hair so that's something I guess but it doesn't bother me in the least bit that they use the same Face sculpt. Unlike the Clone Wars a crimson Dawn Darth Maul which are exactly the same I spent a lot of time looking over both of them and comparing and the only thing different is the red on the Crimson Dawn Maul is brighter. I ended up switching the heads to my figures so now my Crimson Dawn head is on my Clone Wars Darth Maul. And I think it fits so much better because of the color on the body the Clone Wars Maul is brighter than the head sculpt he came with and with the Crimson Dawn one the body paint is darker so it fits his body paint much better. In my opinion.

Idk what episode or season but it’s one of the earlier seasons where him and obiwan are chasing asaj ventress and they ride those bc the big spider droid fell off the top of the building ( this doesn’t make sense but watch the episode it tells it better)

In the clone wars movie, Anakin knocks a droid off a STAP and uses it to get to the top of the fortress above and in an episode, he does the same thing in order to escappe from Ventress. While I do understand that people like TCW, I would prefer that they made a STAP in the ROTS color palate in order to make it accurate to the prequel trilogy however.

Hey Justin! Do you recommend buying from Toys Wonderland or Sideshow Collectables when you live in AUS, I do too haha.
Nice! You have to weigh up your options based on budget, timeframes, etc. If you want things sooner but pay a premium, buy direct from HK. Otherwise, wait for PopCultcha to get it as they get Sideshow’s stock but timeframes are very unpredictable.
Fun fact: Anakin used the STAP in The Clone Wars Movie (2008) at the B’Omarr Monastery.
