I’ve been waiting for the whole interview to be posted all day
Man Oaktree is the business. Charles Oakley is still a guy who is beloved in Chicago. He is the truth. The MSG story is bananas!
im a Chicagoan born and bred, but man Oakley is my favorite Knick of all time as well. special place in our hearts for protecting baby MJ.
This COULD HAVE or SHOULD HAVE been a great interview - Oakley is an amazing listen & free speaking guest.
Eisen needs to LISTEN MORE to his guests there was a window to understand the rift the btw Oakley & Ewing,...when Oakley states Ewing left his soul in Georgetown & Rich just skipped over it! Could have....Would have.... Should have..... interview.
Shame this could have been a great rather than interesting interview!
That Ewing quip is definitely demanding a follow-up.
I agree.. Ariel Helwani interview with Oak is way better than this one. More about Ewing!
i thought the same thing...wanted to hear more of that story
Very glaring missed opportunity for a follow up. I find it hard to believe Rich was even listening at that point, yet I find it hard to believe he WASN’T listening at the same time.
Great Knicks player! He was the enforcer in the paint!
Awesome interview. Oak!!!!!
How tf does he have a Afro when he was just in the breakfast club with a haircut
The truth of the matter is pretty simple to understand. A lot of these owners are used to being treated like royalty. They get everything they want. But love and respect can't be bought. And that drives them insane. So when a made guy like Oakley walks into a room and they see other people fawn over him (many of whom they employ!) something snaps.
I live the way he stands his ground. Good for you Charles 👍
“Patrick’s body was there but he left his soul in Georgetown.”
“Tell me about your relationship with Michael Jordan.”
“Ewing didn’t have my back”
“So you knew LeBron was going to Miami before he announced it?”
Rich is terrified of Oakley. In his defense, I probably would be too
Nah man
I respect Oakley, but what he said about Patrick Ewing was unfair. Patrick Ewing gave everything to that Knicks organization. Oakley should be grateful he was able to play with an all-time great center and Hall of Famer like Ewing. Ewing took prime if not peak Jordan to 7 games in 92 and came within a last second 3 point attempt by John Starks in game 6 of the 94 finals, that was blocked by Olajuwon, from most likely WINNING the Knicks and Oakley a championship, had the shot gone in. That doesn’t seem a like a player who left his soul at Georgetown.
What a legend and he’s the real enforcer in New York
Rich came across more as a fan in this interview than as an interviewer.
Love Oakley
Love Oakley!
The Knicks won’t win anything as long as James Dolan is the majority owner.
Good luck with the book Oakley. Don't blame Ewing for not getting in between your Dolan drama. It would have not done anything.
The Garden with those Ewing/Oakley teams was epic. The franchise waited to late to surround Ewing with enough help to bring a nba trophy to nyc. That's bad juju!
James Dolan Ain't Right Seeing That Video Of The Oakley Fiasco Was Unbelievable. They did Spike Lee Dirty and Didn't Recognize Patrick Ewing.
I got the book I really liked it 👍 thumbs up oak tree!
Oak seems like a likable guy and very loyal, but damn he´s a bad interview!
Some people aren't good in front of camera probably gotta catch em off camera in his comfort zone
Disagree. He’s not the most articulate person in the world, but he’s usually always entertaining and unafraid to speak his mind.
MSG security famously didn’t recognize Patrick Ewing and treated him like shyt.
That was Spike Lee. How could anyone mistake Patrick Ewing??? He’s seven feet tall!!! 🤷🏻♂️🙄🤦🏻♂️
Oakley is lyning about the Dolan incident, the video I saw Oakley was verbally harassing Dolan at the arena,in public.Dolan got tired of it and had security manhandle him.He deserved it.The bully got BULLIED!!! LOL.
The knicks don’t care about winning. Great teams look after their players especially guys like Oak who are beloved by their fans. This is just crazy. Oak was right, Dolan has a small man complex who needs to control the narrative…
I’m glad to hear Oakley give some credit to Jerry Krause for putting those championship Bulls teams together.
Well Jerry didn't do himself favors by apparently demanding or wanting lots of credit -
But yes good to see Charles show some support ..... Jerry made a lot of good moves: The Cartwright trade, Kukoc, drafting BJ Armstrong, Dennis Rodman's acquisition
... OBviously the major piece though had nothing to do with Jerry - Michael's ego was a bit inflated/ incredibly large too....
@@MrLarryLessor - He still completely re-shaped the team after Jordan retired and came back again. Only Jordan and Pippen were left from those first three championships when they won the second three rings. He should be in the Hall of Fame.
@@johnbrowntheprophet
I agree. I'm not sure if Jerry is or is not in the Hall.
I thought he may have been in - but of course its posthumous.
Bottom line though: All those players Jerry brought in that 2nd three-peat.... they all left and pretty much did nothing outside of Chicago (Sure Kerr won another title as a role player..... but it was Jordan pretty much who made that team distinctive.
Even Kukoc, Pippen, Wennington, Longley, Kerr.... Buechler, Rodman.
Even Rodman - all those guys are pretty much role players. Kukoc had a special something.
But Michael was the special sauce..... even Pippen couldn't win a title without MJ.
That's just the plain truth - Pip went to Houston, went to Portland... it didn't matter... he was not a closer. Jordan was one of the best closers in the game's history.
People trying to contradict that - many of them are just trying to falsify/ rewrite history.
I would argue the NBA was watered down by the late 90s: Those 1997 Bulls would not have beaten the deep teams of the early 80s full of 3 or 4 or more hall of famers:
- 1983 - The sixers SWEPT the Lakers... that Laker team was loaded (Kareem, Magic, Cooper, )...
So just imagine how jaw-dropping good that SIXER team was: Moses, Dr J, Andrew Toney, Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones...
The late 90s Bulls woould have no answer for Moses and Bobby Jones down low....Pippen cannot guard Moses LOOOL.
Malone would tear the Bulls interior defense apart all night. JOrdan at 6 ft 5 isn't stopping moses even with Pippen's help
- 1987 - That Laker team was so long, athletic and fast... again the Bulls would have no answer: Kareem? AC Green, Sam Perkins, AND MAGIC with Rambis and James Worthy??
Too much talent for the late 90s Bulls.... Those bulls looked good against thinner UTah Jazz teams... but that wouldn't fly in the early 80s back when the NBA had DEEEEEEP Teams. As the league expanded, it became more about making money and less quality teams. And that's when JOrdan rose and became the superstar that he did...
Jordan is to me tied for 4th best player in NBA history - he can't guard a center like Wilt, Kareem, BIll Russell etc. Even Magic can play center.... Jordan cannot.
There are other guys who can be a great wing somewhat like Jordan..... (Elgin Baylor, Kobe, etc).
So to me people who TRULY understand the history of basketball can live without michael and actually see him as one of the best -but not necessarily THE NUMBER 1 player.
That’s a nice lid
Knicks didn't retire Benard King number?? wtf
“You don’t know who’s racist” og
i love charles oakley. i just wished he spoke english
😂😂😂
Charles Oakley is one of the toughest New York Knicks ever. I hope to read his book one day. Hoping him and James Dolan can make amends and we see Charles Oakley in MSG again.
Correction: James ''cokehead" Dolan should make "AMENDS" with NY Knick legend Charles Oakley!
@@Blaqmench Making amends is a two way street regardless who's guilty. One person can't make amends with themself.
John solkley is a real name that's what real men do, but all I haters out there. Charles Oakley go find something to do with your life you Gothe like because I heard nicknames on the TV fan, said Charles Oakley was drunk and on this a man wasn't drunk, Charles Oakley didn't do nothing. You don't he? Was the hot and soul of the New York Knicks and the 90s at the New York Mets today? Play the wait, I'm guys playing. We don't want 2 or 3 Championships by now.
See, I understand true nicknames stick by their players.
Nicknames that call us out true nickname. That aint, that's what they do. They criticized Charles Oakley that he was drunk on TV fan. Next t v fan, the man wasn't drunk I'm on with Charles Oakley.
I lived in NYC (Manhattan) all my entire life an I can say Charles Oakley is a good guy & LEGEND, BUT Patrick Ewing never gave young fans autographs after games & LOUSY HUMAN BEING!
Anyone wanna be a cartoon character?
Congratulations to Charles Oakley for writing one more book than he has read
😂😂😂
Bet you wouldn't say that to his face. Let me guess you are a Trump supporter
Oakley has a great head of Grey hair.
Oakley should have accepted his Chicago role and stayed to win a few rings.
I give the a-hole J. Krause credit for putting the Bulls together. I really dislike him for screwing up a great Chicago team at it's peak. And, J. Reinsdorf failed to immediately pull rank as the owner and keep his team together. Reinsdorf let the situation get out of hand as the leader of the franchise. His Bulls immediately went to crap for decades. For harpooning his great team, Jerry's team is most likely🤬 crursed for life.
Pepsi? That was mistake #1
Rich is soft, letting the mention of another mans name makes him shake and get angry.
Go rockets 🚀
