    This COULD HAVE or SHOULD HAVE been a great interview - Oakley is an amazing listen & free speaking guest.
    Eisen needs to LISTEN MORE to his guests there was a window to understand the rift the btw Oakley & Ewing,...when Oakley states Ewing left his soul in Georgetown & Rich just skipped over it! Could have....Would have.... Should have..... interview.
    Shame this could have been a great rather than interesting interview!

    The truth of the matter is pretty simple to understand. A lot of these owners are used to being treated like royalty. They get everything they want. But love and respect can't be bought. And that drives them insane. So when a made guy like Oakley walks into a room and they see other people fawn over him (many of whom they employ!) something snaps.

  • @Riles3152
    @Riles3152 Před 2 lety +1

    I respect Oakley, but what he said about Patrick Ewing was unfair. Patrick Ewing gave everything to that Knicks organization. Oakley should be grateful he was able to play with an all-time great center and Hall of Famer like Ewing. Ewing took prime if not peak Jordan to 7 games in 92 and came within a last second 3 point attempt by John Starks in game 6 of the 94 finals, that was blocked by Olajuwon, from most likely WINNING the Knicks and Oakley a championship, had the shot gone in. That doesn’t seem a like a player who left his soul at Georgetown.

    I’m glad to hear Oakley give some credit to Jerry Krause for putting those championship Bulls teams together.

    • @MrLarryLessor
      @MrLarryLessor Před 2 lety

      Well Jerry didn't do himself favors by apparently demanding or wanting lots of credit -
      But yes good to see Charles show some support ..... Jerry made a lot of good moves: The Cartwright trade, Kukoc, drafting BJ Armstrong, Dennis Rodman's acquisition
      ... OBviously the major piece though had nothing to do with Jerry - Michael's ego was a bit inflated/ incredibly large too....

    • @johnbrowntheprophet
      @johnbrowntheprophet Před 2 lety

      @@MrLarryLessor - He still completely re-shaped the team after Jordan retired and came back again. Only Jordan and Pippen were left from those first three championships when they won the second three rings. He should be in the Hall of Fame.

    • @MrLarryLessor
      @MrLarryLessor Před 2 lety

      @@johnbrowntheprophet
      I agree. I'm not sure if Jerry is or is not in the Hall.
      I thought he may have been in - but of course its posthumous.
      Bottom line though: All those players Jerry brought in that 2nd three-peat.... they all left and pretty much did nothing outside of Chicago (Sure Kerr won another title as a role player..... but it was Jordan pretty much who made that team distinctive.
      Even Kukoc, Pippen, Wennington, Longley, Kerr.... Buechler, Rodman.
      Even Rodman - all those guys are pretty much role players. Kukoc had a special something.
      But Michael was the special sauce..... even Pippen couldn't win a title without MJ.
      That's just the plain truth - Pip went to Houston, went to Portland... it didn't matter... he was not a closer. Jordan was one of the best closers in the game's history.
      People trying to contradict that - many of them are just trying to falsify/ rewrite history.
      I would argue the NBA was watered down by the late 90s: Those 1997 Bulls would not have beaten the deep teams of the early 80s full of 3 or 4 or more hall of famers:
      - 1983 - The sixers SWEPT the Lakers... that Laker team was loaded (Kareem, Magic, Cooper, )...
      So just imagine how jaw-dropping good that SIXER team was: Moses, Dr J, Andrew Toney, Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones...
      The late 90s Bulls woould have no answer for Moses and Bobby Jones down low....Pippen cannot guard Moses LOOOL.
      Malone would tear the Bulls interior defense apart all night. JOrdan at 6 ft 5 isn't stopping moses even with Pippen's help
      - 1987 - That Laker team was so long, athletic and fast... again the Bulls would have no answer: Kareem? AC Green, Sam Perkins, AND MAGIC with Rambis and James Worthy??
      Too much talent for the late 90s Bulls.... Those bulls looked good against thinner UTah Jazz teams... but that wouldn't fly in the early 80s back when the NBA had DEEEEEEP Teams. As the league expanded, it became more about making money and less quality teams. And that's when JOrdan rose and became the superstar that he did...
      Jordan is to me tied for 4th best player in NBA history - he can't guard a center like Wilt, Kareem, BIll Russell etc. Even Magic can play center.... Jordan cannot.
      There are other guys who can be a great wing somewhat like Jordan..... (Elgin Baylor, Kobe, etc).
      So to me people who TRULY understand the history of basketball can live without michael and actually see him as one of the best -but not necessarily THE NUMBER 1 player.

Charles Oakley go find something to do with your life you Gothe like because I heard nicknames on the TV fan, said Charles Oakley was drunk and on this a man wasn't drunk, Charles Oakley didn't do nothing. You don't he? Was the hot and soul of the New York Knicks and the 90s at the New York Mets today? Play the wait, I'm guys playing. We don't want 2 or 3 Championships by now.

    Oakley has a great head of Grey hair.
    Oakley should have accepted his Chicago role and stayed to win a few rings.
    I give the a-hole J. Krause credit for putting the Bulls together. I really dislike him for screwing up a great Chicago team at it's peak. And, J. Reinsdorf failed to immediately pull rank as the owner and keep his team together. Reinsdorf let the situation get out of hand as the leader of the franchise. His Bulls immediately went to crap for decades. For harpooning his great team, Jerry's team is most likely🤬 crursed for life.
