    Recently I demonstrated how to use a classic horse racing strategy called Lay The Field. This takes advantage of the market volatility on Betfair and can allow some low risk, high reward profits.
    However, it is a strategy that looks easy but making a long term profit with it is not so easy.
    So I put together this video to give you guys some extra tips on how you can make money using this method.
    Watch the video and take the tips on board. The important thing with this strategy is finding your own edge in the market since if we all try this on the same courses and at the same odds then none of us will profit.
    You also have to consider different odds formulas and laying at different levels which I demonstrate in a trade that netted us £125 Profit for 3 minutes work!

    The idea of only entering the lays once you see how the race is unfolding is a good tip, hadnt thought you could do that. thanks

      Probably the best way to get an edge on this these days, you can avoid the races with a clear winner and improve your strike rate

    También usaría diferentes tipos de cuotas: 3,2 - 2,5 - 1,8 al ser cuotas relativamente altas hay más posibilidades de que se igualen y además no garantizaría la victoria del caballo al ser cuotas tan altas.

    I used this strategy and the ending was very competetive, but for some reason, the market froze, and I was only matched with a winner. Don't think it's fair when actually there were like 4 horses who could have won as well.

  • @JMiguelmartins
    @JMiguelmartins Před 3 lety +3

    After trying this strategy in more then 20 races, following strictly the information in this video, the winning streak was less then 20%. The markets allow the odd go down to 1.5 (to be matched) only when a horse has practically won the race already. Because of this it's very unusual that we can get that sort of odds in a different horse during the same race. This tactic doesn't work in the long run. Not worth using.

    • @arthurpewtey
      @arthurpewtey Před 2 lety +1

      I'm not convinced a statistician would think that "more than 20" races means you gave the strategy a fair shot. But, each to their own and all that....

    • @jamesalexander3893
      @jamesalexander3893 Před 2 lety +1

    Hi Ben, I am completely new to horse racing and I am trying to implement this strategy. Right now I am only seeing races mainly in USA and Australia. I am trying my best to research the different courses but do you have any specific race tracks that you can recommend me to use for profit as a complete newbie? Thanks Ben

    • @ndukaolise
      @ndukaolise Před 2 lety +1

      Liquidity in USA & Aus races tends to be much lower than UK & Irish racing, the price movements are also far worse (sometimes horrendously bad price movements). This will work well on larger field sprint races with no clear fav, good strategy to use but shouldn’t be solely relied on 👍🏾

  • @master4eva
    @master4eva Před 4 lety +2

    Hi Ben iwhat do you think about laying the field at 1.05 in play when you feel a horse from the back may come on to win on the line? as i saw in your video a few horses losing at 1.01 i know it will be long waits for it to hit but when it does you will get a massive payday!!

    • @SportsTradingLife
      @SportsTradingLife  Před 4 lety +4

      If the data suggests it happens enough on that course to be profitable then it can definitely work, you would need a lot of patience as I can imagine you would easily go many races in a row with no winners.

    • @melvynburchell
      @melvynburchell Před 4 lety +2

      One for bigger stakes due to such low liability... Nice payday when it does come up... But then the problem will be that the only time you are fully matched will be when the selection goes on to win... Good to get your LTF bets in early so they are near the front of the queue to get matched - another tip :) But then they are visible - another tip!

    • @SportsTradingLife
      @SportsTradingLife  Před 4 lety +4

      @@melvynburchell Yes a problem with laying at say 1.03 is there are a bunch of others already doing that. Your horse might hit 1.03 and lose but you can't guarantee your money will have been taken.

    @bengrimshaw4811 Před 4 lety +2

    Hey Ben, thanks for this, great content as ever and well explained as ever! Just wondered, on the race where you LTD in play to see if it had got competitive, did you have all the lays and prices on your bet slip PRERACE, and did it let you keep them there?

    • @SportsTradingLife
      @SportsTradingLife  Před 4 lety +1

      Good question Ben. I actually just put the bets up at the start of the race then you are ready on the button. If you do it before the race you have to press keep then once it begins you will have to "unkeep" all the bets so getting it done in-play is better.
      With software it can be done with one click too.

      @@SportsTradingLife Thanks Ben. I did a couple of races 'blind' yesterday in US that looked competitive just for £20 each and got 2 from 3 races with two 1.5s matched for a little profit. Worth looking into for sure and was quite fun as you said.

      @SportsTradingLife  Před 4 lety +2

      @@bengrimshaw4811 Nice start. So you can see what can happen as you start to narrow things down. The US races have been quite good for it since not as much in-play competition like the UK races.

    • @SportsTradingLife
      @SportsTradingLife  Před 4 lety +3

      You would only need enough to cover the ONE losing lay since only 1 horse can win the race so that is all Betfair needs to cover the liability.

    Hi Ben I have a question, So yesterday I layed the field on Tampa bay earlier in the day all at 1.5 then pressed keep and updated I then double checked all was correct following your guidlines.
    Later on I checked back to see if I made a profit and noticed all the odds were changed to 1.2 and only made a tiny profit.
    My question is how could these odds have changed even though I pressed keep ? Im at a loss with this as you did say you can do this strategy in advance ?

    • @SportsTradingLife
      @SportsTradingLife  Před 4 lety

      Yes something I should have covered is that if a horse is withdrawn they adjust your bets accordingly. Very annoying and can't find a workaround for that.

    NOT GOOD,you was laying Soaring Now at 1.5 and 1.25 to win £125 if he went on to win you lose £75 ok, as it was Segnatawnee got up to win and you won £125 BUT when Soaring Now was fully matched and all remaining bets was to be canceled at that time you would of won £200 because Segnatawnee got up to win,also Soaring Now was trading as low as 1.02 1.03 1.04 which means at least 96 out of a 100 times you would of lost the £75 so why not cancel all bets when matched
